Seeing the notification that you got a like releases dopamine. It makes you feel good to have attention. The very purpose of social media is to create device addiction
Because worrld is jn need of little appreciation for each other. they re obssessed.
It's a numeric way to quantify how desirable something in our lives is.
Self-validation is not enough do we seek others validation to feel good
Cause there's a lot of losers out there that want there to be meaning in their lives.

to answer your update and q, people liking your post and those little like buttons have a psychological effect that people like, they get obsessed with this like virtual currency that they get
Not all of us are, it is just clicks on an icon after all
Because most people love the feeling of being seen by others it makes then feel good
and that can get adictive
Depends, are you looking for singles out there or you want to show off your great body. But for most it's that want to feel loved like real life models. like the one's from vogue or swimsuit edition

I'm a guy, I don't know. I consume social media content for personal gratification, I don't the need to produce it for personal validation.
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that you definitely didn't intend to subtly suggest that girls are more subject to this issue then guys
They have a higher presence on the platforms of course they are going to be more subject to the issue.
If I say guys are more likely to die at work that doesn't imply guys work unsafely it just implies more of them work in dangerous jobs.

Girls and guys are equally subject to this issue. It's not even a gender thing. A guy is no less immune to today's addictive technology than a girl.
