Do you think happy people are boring?

I'm a bit a mess at the moment, but somehow it's me and there's something interesting about it, sometimes I'm afraid to get better in case I become too boring. And it seems like the troubled souls are the most interesting ones, what do you think?

Thats a good question. I'm not sure how to answer this completely, but I'll try.

It depends on what makes you interesting to begin with. "Troubled soul." That's a vague term so I don't know specifically what you mean that. If you have serious emotional problems, depression, etc. and that contributes to what people find interesting about you, then yes obviously if those issues disappear that specific source of appeal is going to fade. however, that doesn't mean you don't have other things that make you interesting as well. I will admit. Most of the greatest artists, muscians, thinkers, and philosophers of the world have been "troubled souls" of one kind or another. It's very true. I think struggle in life creates something extra that you just don't have when everything is peachy. However, that doesn't mean you have to live with that struggle forever. Your journey away from whatever you're dealing with will lead you to new places. The road of recovery is something interesting all on its own. A while from now when you are a happy man (whatever that means) you have years and years of whatever journey that lead you to that point. Your experiences are what make you interesting and what you choose to do with them. You can choose to fix your life and end up doing something amazing because of what you went through.

Different people find different things interesting. You haven't given any examples or explanation of what you mean so I don't know what "boring" is to you.

What is happiness? This is my main problem with questions like this. I think true happiness at its core is something extremely rare, if not impossible to attain. If someone asks am I happy, I can say yes or no depending on what aspect of my life I'm referencing. If someone asks are you a happy person, then no. I believe happiness is only part of your life, and not an identifier of what kind of person you are. The people who are identified as happy people in our society are the people who are bubbly all the time, and come off as completely content with life and everything that is going on. Obviously, most of them are not this way beneath the surface. The people who are genuinely, completely happy are ignorant. ignorance is required to be such a person. with all the horrible things going on in the world, in our country, in every state, all the questions to ponder about humanity and existence, all the struggle everywhere around us, I can't possibly see how you could be completely happy unless you are ignorant and simply choose to live in a surface world. Your happiness is reliant on breezing the surface of emotions, pain, struggle, and life. You have to be distant in a sense emotionally, so as not to have your happiness ruined. This is kind of interesting in itself, but just not my kind of person generally. Its a complicated idea, or one that many people won't accept, but I think to live fundamentally involves unhappiness, unless you create the illusion that it doesnt.

I don't know if living involves fundamentally 'unhappiness'. I do believe it does imply suffering. but recently I've experienced, in my recovery process, moment where I was really fully in touch with my sadness, yet it was not making me unhappy, I felt a sense of me, like, wow, this is my real sadness, it's me, and I like it. But I'm very close to you in opinion, like I've had to stop worrying about climate change, overpopulation etc to start feeling better.

Well coolness. :) Its not even just the cultural, historical, political,etc issues that I'm personally interested in.The average person doesn't have a job they enjoy and usually lives in complacency. I include things on a smaller scale too. Happiness is pleasure, contentment, and bliss. I don't see most people living lives where they can truly see all that they wanted for themselves in career, family, relationships, etc. and actually be "happy people." But yeah Great Question by the way :]

yes with pleasure.i'm growing up I guess.i'm on a mental trip, was heavy suicidal 2 years ago and looking for a reason to live.and my reason is that in the deep of my desperation I did not have a reason,but just I wanted to live.I started the 'know thyself' journey,was/am pretty screwed up because of all the masks I had used over years,so it's like I don't even know who myself is&don't know where I'm heading and what will happen.will I be a f***ing braindamaged idiot if I'll feel ok? LOL :D

Hmm, well maybe you agree with this or not, but I don't think there is a purpose or reason inherent in life. That's the beauty of it, you create your own reason and purpose in this world and I think just living and growing and evolving is a great reason to be alive. I'm sorry to hear that though. You should get to know yourself. It can't be that hard, unless you're like a sociopath or something then it might be, because your life IS wearing masks daily, but its possible to get better. don't give up

hi sorry for being a bit nosy, but I think not knowing who you are, where you come from and where you are going is a normal feeling that every human being has in the back of their mind, and it usually comes up when you either don't have a goal in life or feel suspended.

I don't want to force any ideas, but that is why many people beileve in a God. what ever they do, they say I am doing this for my God and I hope to keep him happy and hopefully I will get ALL the happiness in the here after.

I personally did go through that phase, but now that I have made my goal of what I want to do for the next 10 years I guess that is what keeps the fire of striving.

I guess I started believing in a God and came to read so many books so to get to know him. What I've learned so far is that Who am I where do I come from and Where am I going is the question in EVERY human being's head. and answerer said above, you have to make a goal in your life.

You're right. It does seems like the trouble souls are the more interesting ones. I'm usually a pretty happy person! =) This semester there was this incredibly obnoxious boy who annoyed the crap out of everyone but I took upon myself to get to know him, possibly understand him, and help him be friendlier. What an epic fail!

My point is, I think people are attracted to troubled ones because we feel like we should help them. Somehow, someway we fall for them and there is turbulent relationship that forms that becomes addicting and impossible to escape from.

If your life is a mess, you should try fixing that. Everyone has bad moments but don't let that stretch out to a bad life!

My ex was a wildly eccentric creative professional who could draw people by his passion, stories, and talent. He was also a troubled soul who battled alcoholism and depression. He was afraid anti depressants and obriety would flatline his creativity. Quite the contrary. Once he was sober and over depression he was productive like no other time in his life. And he sstopped having huge mood swings so he had even more friends.

boring=no interest in no one, or nothing

not boring, exciting life= interested in people and things

it doesn't mean exciting people are troubled!

some people who are exciting have cool lives because they feel happy about their life, they have cool hobbies they are really into, or they really love their partner and do cool stuff for their partner or with their partner all the time. that makes them exciting, they are always up for something that interests them.

Happy people are fun to be around, but all people have their sad days, and nobody is happy all the time. Happy generally are more positive about things I guess
