The Japanese have a history of adopting certain looks or even putting together English words that make absolutely no sense for the sole purpose of it looking or sounding cool to them. They don’t have any idea the history or reputation of these people they’re emulating nor do they care

The Japanese have always had a culture of copying others. I don't have any problem with it, people will always copy! It's just a human thing that can't be stopped. At least they aren't burning Mexicans in the street!

Well Japanese people long have been known to dress up in all kinds of strange, unique costumes. They are very creative with it. This example is very mild to what you can find in Japanese outfits I would say.

Lol its really interesting, I know Japan often imitates other cultures they find "cool" but I wasn't aware that cholo style was one of them. As a Mexican in south cali where I personally know cholos and some gangs by my school its pretty weird to see some people just be essentially posers.

It's a different culture. What they perceive to be right and wrong differs from the western idea. There was also a trend where they'd dress up in black face but to my knowledge it wasn't intended to be racist so there's no point in getting upset.

It’s interesting. They like some of our subcultures which is cool. Turns out Greaser subculture is a big thing in an area there too.

Japanese are good at accepting other cultures, but still keeping their own and keeping it above. Also, they don't take cultures as they are, but often an idealized version of it.
