Why Do Dress Codes Tend To Be So Strict For Girls?

Afaik generally speaking people just tend to be more conservative towards girls clothing.
Though, there is also the argument that girls have more options, which come with more restrictions.
Guys, for example, have the choice to wear a tie or no tie. Or long jeans, shorts or 3/4 jeans that nobody wears. Girls have lots of things between them.
But I don't really think that's a fair argument as that does not cover the rather prevalent rules of not showing knees and/or shoulders.
That, afaik, is just because people are often culturally ingrained (one could call it sexism) to think that we hold a higher standard of girls dressing more modestly than guys. I just think it's more or less a culmination of a long while of sexism (I guess it fits here idk) which ebbs in current day standards, in spite of people usually arguing against it.
Women violate dress codes more easily and have a wider range of clothing. Its incredibly difficult for a man to violate dress codes unless he specifically goes out of his way to do so.
I don’t know but it’s honestly so stupid. If my shoulders distract you then you need to figure out your own problems instead of restricting what I wear.
YESSS
Because i haven't seen a guy dress in really short skirts or indecent shirts there are rules against guys in croptops tho

Most of the policies you will see at your school that seem oppressive and overly control are there to prevent the school from getting sued.
Their reasoning is probably that if no one can dress in a revealing way no one can be accused of sexual harassment by staring at someone the wrong way.
This is not the reason they will say, but it's the real reason.
We have a society where it is incredibly easy to get sued and because of the sensationalist news if a school was even accused of something it would damage their reputation. By the time the trial started and they got a chance to defend themselves the damage would have already been done.
The school is trying to cover it's ass and the students suffer from it.
Whether or not the pic on the left is considered revealing or not varies heavily depending on the society. I don't think so. Furthermore there are lots of instances where a guy only wearing a tank top is considered inappropriate or at least insufficient when out and about. I've been told so myself when wanting to go out like that, sharply.
And the pic on the right, that's just a normal attire, not really comparable with the girl one. The guy isn't, "revealing" anything there.
Yeah I know I didn't find that many images to describe this topic
My schools dress code was unisex, but guys generally don't try to wear tops without shoulders.
And it wasn't because it was "distracting" it was because of provocative thinking/high schoolers being high schoolers (retarded). This was before PC became so ridiculous.
Why do female youth complain so much about this topic? The work world has a dress code. Many countries live by their codes. Americans and Canadians all pathetically complain because they wanna wear whatever the Hell they want with no consequences.
I'm not complaining, just wanna know why.
Didn't accuse you. Accusing the ones that complain about it.
Oh okie
And the entire military has a dress code.
@EclipseoftheHeart Yeah, I have female family members in the military. They don't/didn't complain about the dress code. They liked what they wore. Very stylish and professional.
Cause men get a hard-on and bad thoughts for every single thing... women don’t
even if we find someone attractive we don’t automatically want sexual stuff on the spot with them...
but men can’t control themselves or Their thoughts
so they decide they have to make us change... our clothes... bleh.
We can control ourself easily but some choose not to
Yup unfortunately :/
I believe they always find ways to make dress codes
when i was a teenager they had strict dress codes
i think their policies are set in place so when head of
education comes around they don't shut the school
districts down. Yes i wish they didn't have strict dress
codes i believe if a teenager can protect herself from
guys than she should be allowed to dress the way she
wishes as long as it's decent.
Guys tend to not who shoulders. Or thighs, for bellies. Thats why we have no dress code.
Yeah, but it still shouldn't be that much of a big deal. Especially if a girl wants to show her shoulders.
Girls need to put on their Big Girl Panties and stop complaining that they can't go around dressing like lamp post hookers. You're in a school to learn, not make a hook up.
What I was describing definitely didn't entail girls dressing up like hookers, just wanna know why some girls can't show their shoulder or even knees.
You could be wearing school uniforms so you at least have a choice. Dress codes are just part of life. You have them in most jobs. If they didn't have them some would wear nothing at all I bet.
I dont know but its honestly stupid i got dress coded for my shoulders once
That's ridiculous
So that boys have a better chance of concentrating on their studies instead of "other things" ... lol
I wish i had that teacher lol
Boys tend to not wear booty shorts or halter tops, that's why people tend to think dress codes unfairly target girls. The "bare shoulders" strawman is also not a thing.
Ehh... more traditional parents complaints to the school.
You wouldn’t believe the amount of power parents have on schools.
Really?
That sucks.
Trust me, it was a whole lot worse like in 2009.
Where I went to school, the guy in the picture listed as athletic would have violated the dress code because his sides need to be covered. And the girl needs her stomach covered.
In work they Alos has dress code. Eg like Sainsbury's, Tesco , Subway, police/cops, hospital and dentist. In my work place in Watlon lea I wear work school eg boots that very safe. In Cat protection. I wear plastic apron.
Walking boots or steal cap boots.
At my school guys and girls have the same dress code
Dress-codes?
In a number of nations (even democracies), uniforms are mandatory in schools.
If people just dressed conservatively, dress-codes would be driven to obsolescence.
Exactly. Dress codes are strict on girls cuz they go out with everything showing.
@InTimoreDei Yup.
Chances of finding scantily-clad boys is almost 0% for most of us. For scantily-clad men, the probability rises mostly in beaches, gay-pride rallies, B. D. S. M. meetings, or the like.
Where can we see scantily-clad girls & women? Just about anywhere… including some churches.
Because the people that right them are usually on the Board of Education, and have little or no actual experience or training in either fairness or young adults/teens.
girls like to try to get away with showing off a lot of skin
Yes it's true girls dress a lot more revealing than guys
But shoulders and knees aren't a big deal
in the middle east it is, under sharia law muslim
I'm not talking about the middle east
I mean more the west, like countries like America and Canada
Dress codes in America are very strict especially for girls from what I hear
and thats why. girls LIKE TO DO IT
Because they like to rebel against the strict dress code, you mean?
yeah
Its a double standard in society where men cannot be sluts but girls are sluts if they show skin or will “distract” the whole class
I actually have seen a guy get dress coded for having shorts that were too short. But yea a lot of it is arbitrary, especially the shoulder thing.
Because the schools are usually run by men and our society is slow to transition from its narrow minded past.
It has the same reasons for pixelated nipple syndrome. Exclusive for women and girls.
Girls violate dress code all the time a lot is don’t gaf
''athletic'' no. that whats douchbag wear
Guys can't wear sleeveless shirts just saying
