Would you put on the police uniform today, in the USA?

No, I wouldn't. Never interest me. Put on uniform sure for fun.
I don't envy, but I have a lot of respect for them. They keep us safe, protect the citizen. They put their lives on the line of duty. I hear a lot of stories from my cowrokers... lots married to cops. Its dangerous and dirty job dealing with criminals, walk the streets.
I don't know why so many people fear cops. I don't fear them, but truly respect them. They have always been nice to me.
I am kinda sick and sad with whats going with the curruptions and the racis nonsense.. people hurting ea. other... what for?
Thanks for MHO
I would sign up in a real democracy that respects the citizen but not in the US.
The entire system is based on violence and race profiling. Police officers do a dangerous job for the wage they are paid for and I am sorry for every wife, child, parent or relative of a police officer that loses his/her life in the line of duty but so do I for those victims a police officer killed because of the toxic social society that is the true reflection of the US mentality.
Not if I have to work where I live.
Its pretty violent here. There are shootings regularly, a lot of fentanyl being trafficked and just criminality all around.
And then when college kids come back, its a huge mess with all the drunks everywhere.
If I was in a working in a predominately white city, It would be a pretty sweet gig. And yes everyone white neighborhoods are safer than any other neighborhoods. Lets just be honest here.
I think some truth to that, more culture of the area. there are dangerous white areas, some safe "black" areas. But I'd work in my city which is mostly white, I wouldn't want to work in some other areas... where the drugs, crime is rampant.
In L. A many police officers and deputies are affiliated with gangs
I’m not really a proponent of modern human society, despite its comforts to us, it’s just unnatural in the scheme of nature. A big part of that is the concept of objective right and wrong, organized governmental law & order, etc, so I would not wish to perpetuate that.
interesting, so you are saying everyone be enforcement of law/order, group order?
I've seen/heard of social chaos in some cities... I wouldn't go to because there is a lack of support/enforcement due to social fear (e. g. police are affraid to act). I can't walk around with a gun, travel with one, etc.. So society starts goign back to 1900's Chicago and the wild west. Not sure that works well... but maybe I don't understand.
Well, I’d say we’re probably a thousand-plus years too late by the time the Wild West and gangland Chicago rolled around. I’d contend humans were never intended to develop past small tribes. Everything kind of snowballed from there. Don’t misunderstand me, I enjoy living in climate-controlled dwellings, entertainment out the wazoo, easily obtained nourishment, NOT dying of small pox and polio, etc, etc, etc. It’s VERY comfortable for us, I’m impressed by the innovation and efforts that went into these developments, I’m not necessarily knocking the achievements in and of themselves. I just can’t logically make sense of humans reaching this level of population and dominance of the landscape. There’s just no way this could be “right” in terms of the destiny of the planet. Many people hold the self-important view that humans are the #1 species of animal on the planet, and everything has to fall in line behind us, and that’s just inconsistent with any other evidence I see. My belief is that everything is just part of the same system, no one species’ needs or desires should supersede the needs or desires of any other species. People might argue that humans do a lot FOR nature, but when you think about it, it’s all just cleaning up messes we’ve made: pollution, habitat destruction, etc... all because humans want to play by different rules and cheat life. Again, VERRRRYYYYY comfortable for us, we’ll never actually see the reversion I think is necessary, no one will ever forfeit greatly enhanced comfort and survival. Like George Carlin said, “everyone wants a cellphone that rubs their balls and makes pancakes.” So I’m basically crowing for nothing, but I’m just at the point where I view social problems as a manifestation of the futility of human society. We’ve oversurvived, there are way too many of us, and a clean 90% are absolute dolts lmfao. I guess maybe “within this system” law & order is needed. But I’m a guy who doesn’t just fall in line, I do what I think is right.
He has a great way of simplifying human beings, should go to every high school! He's right, we don't want to change...
we could easily exasperate a lot of population, I doubt we make 20 billion humans.
As Jesus said... I'll write my law on their hearts... that's the right place for it. But we haven't evolved so much since he said that...

Under this admin? Yes, because they're allowed to do their job, instead of just being target practice for armed felons. Under the previous admin? No, because they were thrown under the bus, by guys like Eric Holder. It's ironic... a rich, Ivy League ahole telling everyone else THEY'RE cowards... while himself going to 1,000 dollar a plate dinners.😏
I agree from what I know and saw!!!
I wouldn't do it, but only because I lean toward libertarian more than fascist (personality wise; I'm not talking about politics!). And don't take this to mean that I'm calling police officers fascist, because I'm not. They just have a different approach to life than I do. Judges are the same (and referees, but to a much lesser degree.)
I learn libertarian as well. so your thinking is more... if someone steals my package and I know who it is, I go take it back. If there's an argument, I bring superior power and they lose... like law of nature? vs law and order control? Has to be some order, but if there is not enough regard for law and respect for it, then police don't work.. not enough of them.
I can see that now evolving in the streets with some dude just hijacking a car and getting beat to death this week.
No, it's more like I might not want to arrest someone because I would rather just give them a stern talking-to and then let them go.
But if he hijacked someone's car then he deserves to be beat to death. Jmo. (Not by the police, but by the person whose vehicle he stole.)
Well,... maybe "to death" is a bit extreme.
Yeah it's the easiest job in a America you dont need a degree and can get it in 9 months I believe. You'll only have to deal with real danger maybe twice in your life. By real danger I mean a shoot out.
Its literally no different from being a security guard at a movie theater or something
Not true. Most places require at least an Associate's degree or military service. It is more difficult to get into most police agencies than it is the military because the background is more thorough and the military allows more stuff because they completely own your life. As for danger, just because some cops shoot their weapons does not mean they don't face danger everyday. They can get hit by a car during a traffic stop, can get exposed to crazy diseases, can get hurt with a lucky hit from a drunk, typically are reacting to situations where a crime has already occured compared to the prevention mission of a guard, heat stroke from the heavy armor they are required to wear, and all kinds of other stuff most people do not consider typical dangers. Also, they have to deal with the darkest side of humans on a daily basis. Not an easy job.
Everything you said sounds like a regular manual labor job with 24 hour course for a guard card. Fused with a busy day at McDonalds that a cashier had to deal with.
So again not that special. A cashier at Starbucks is more at danger kicking homeless people out then cops. If your a fit Male with a badge and a gun people fear you and 90% will do what you say
What about the other 10%? Also have you been through an academy? I have been in the military, an armed guard and attended an academy. Of all of them, trying to get into the academy was the most difficult. I have 5 friends who made it as SEALs and they still said the academy was more intense. I have much respect for armed guards, again having been one myself, but they have NOTHING on police. When it comes to weapons usage and lethal force they are similar, but that is where the similarities end.
What's the academy climbing a wall lol. Memeriozing miranda rights. It's just basics customer service fused with armed security I'm sorry you think otherwise. Except if they dont do what you say you can beat/shoot/arrest them.
I don't think, I know considering my whole life revolves around law enforcement and I have been an armed guard who has worked with police. And your comment proves you have not been through an academy. The police academy heavily mirrors military bootcamp, but waaaaaaaaay more physical and academic. I challenge you to make it through the academy AND FTO training. Then you would know what you are talking about. Finally, every academy has different events so trying to generalise them all is foolish.
@jgokgotit Interesting, I had no idea it was so tough. The requirements listed seem very lax. They must filter out during academy. I thought about it for a few minutes, but I'm small, not intimidating, and a bit older. Might be hard to survive training...
I'm not suggesting that police officers don't have a dangerous job, but there are many jobs that are actually quite a bit more dangerous than being a police officer.
It's almost the safest time in US history to be a police officer. Not saying it's the safest job in the world but screw off with that stupid narrative
This is actually my dream job that I am aiming for.
Yes only 57 cops died in the line of duty last year In the usa so you're talking the same danger level as shark attacks
I respect the police, but I don't want to be an officer.
Yeah I think so. USA is a cool place. If I would get an invite to their police force, it would be cool. 😀
No because cops need to get paid more. $40,000 is not enough a year as a cop. No wonder they do such a shitty job. Would you be a good cop for that much?
They make more than that around my area. But to answer your question, no that is poverty level. the ones I know have a good retirement and seem to do ok with $ but also... they are glad to be done with it, loss of respect for police is... bad.
nope, i dont like cops.
do you like robbers? just being funny
why not like cops. I don't think anyone does, they are supposed to be intimidating.. that's part of the power. if people were all well behaved, wouldn't need them.
i am friends with a lot of people that would be considered "criminals" or past "criminals" so you could say that. no, my mom used cops for a long while to intimidate me into blindly following her, (if you go outside im calling the cops etc.) and she called the cops on me twice (once after she KICKED me out and thought i would come back begging for forgiveness). also i smoke weed a lot and cops are not big on that.
yea so probably not a dad engaged? So mom has to amp up the control with "cops" to keep you out of trouble, that you don't know is trouble.
Personally, I don't care about the natural drugs... shouldn't be an issue.. we send 18 year olds into combat, I think most can handle a plant. But it's a tough age... and the brain not fully formed yet but it thinks it knows everything... and is fueled with testosterone. It's a wicked combination! I'd drink water and run a dirt bike... no drugs.. and honor mom. but everyone gotta chart their own course, it's your reality... and hope turns out ok.
yea dad was an asshole and no longer in the picture. she never caught me smoking weed so never threatened cops on it. what she would threaten is i would go on walks before fights would start (to avoid fighting) or after (to clear my head) and she would get mad at this and say she would call the cops.
ooo... that not good, controlling. that's probably hear fear of loss of control... which is her issue projected onto you.
I'm not a professional therapist I just try to think like one... that's what I see. I'd definitely have heart to heart talks with mom, and get outside help if you can. your leaving the nest won't be easy on her nor you. not easy being a mother... nor the child.
cops in this case, are definitely not the problem, you might call one some day to avoid a domestic... I hope not.
i understand why she is controlling as her mom was too. and she wants to protect me as being the son of an abusive dad she thinks if she doesn't control me i will turn into him (which i won't, i am nothing like him) so i understand where she is coming from with her control, and some of it is my fault, as i am not the most obediant son, but there is no middle ground with my mom, so stepping away from her rules is necessary fro my own mental health and to have a normal teenage life (as in her perfect world i am homeschooled, christian, only have christian friends, do everything she says, dont listen to the music i like, talk to her about everything, etc.) she isn't super controlling as i can go on walks and have different friends, but thats only because i told her i was going to do it no matter what she said, and then went on walks.
interesting! she's a good mom, but yea, I know the desire to have some space.
oh yea she did the best she could under the circumstances, but rn im doing the same
that's all anyone can ask. dad does make a big impression, you'll be alright. stay out of big trouble, and learn to discern the spirit of people. it helps... to avoid the big trouble:)
thats good advice, i think im over my big trouble phase, now all i do is smoke weed and hangout w friends. nothing crazy
that's only so bad. just don't do motorized stuff nor ride in anything motorized w someone who does that. uncle almost killed himself doing that. probably better than alcohol. I still say chocolate, chocolate cake with something extra? and ice cream is better, but to each his own! I've personally never touched it, but I'd eat it as a plant baked into something if was legal.
oh yea, im very cautious. and i used to eat a lot and wa s obese, lost it all so i try to myself healthy n fit
Good, keep up the good work. habits form now last long time. Mom just diagnosed with lung cancer... personally, I wouldn't smoke stuff. But that's a long term thing, maybe the natural stuff is a cure. ltr.
oh that sucks, my aunt n favorite uncle have cancer. luckily for me weed only causes cancer if u use wraps, and i use pipes or natural leaf wraps.
They wouldn't like me as a cop. I'd call to many cops out on there shit.
Na because they are not police today they are Nazis
Yes. I have a clean record and the interest.
It would actually be honorable to be a police officer.
Yes. Bodycameras are A great thing
I would rather die...
I don't have a desire to be a cop.
I woudn't wanna work in law enforcement
Nope but my fiancée wears one in the bedroom hehe
No. Nor am I a fan of police officers.
