I’m all for equality however, when the idea of equality is based off of ridiculous ideas then I’m not for it. Take manspreading for example. Some women think men sitting with their legs open is the rise of the patriarchy when in all honesty it’s because we have genitals down there that if we sit with our legs closed we are uncomfortable. I’m open to talk about gender wage gap and helping women get jobs that men mostly have but the crazy ideas make me not want to. (My opinion)
I don't hate feminism, but I typically just say I'm for gender equality. That way I'm supporting feminists who want gender equality, but not feminists who don't want gender equality. Some feminists have said some very awful stuff about men and I'd rather not associate myself with them
I think a lot of men get caught up in the generalisation... I. e all feminists = all women, so when they see a woman doing something a feminist would be against the brain goes "ahhh contradiction"
Take my post about "do you ask people out or wait" a few women said as they were women it was not up to them. Some Men see this and go "but thats not fair, you can't assume being a woman means you expect men to ask you out, I want girls to ask me out that's not equal..."
It has become a debate around the world whether men and women are equal. We have not tried to understood that they co exist. Men and women are complimentary to each other. Woman in some sense are different in biology than men as well as in terms of emotions. There is an unfortunate history where women were treated badly in past. But we should look in the issue in more broader way. Women shouldnot be in race with men but there strength should find in there own way
Sometimes even I hate feminism. There are girls who abuse it and have no idea what it really is and only makes it something awkard by others such as leaving armpit hairs
It only takes spending a few minutes listening to a modern feminist's platform to realize they care less about equality and more about raising women to some specific societal status that they see fit of. They also talk about wanting "strong" women in society yet create controversy over how men sit in chairs or how a female character is dressed in a video game.
If there was a movement that said they were for equality and it was called WLM (white lives matter) , you think people of colour would approve of it?
No, and yet feminists question why men don't approve of the movement.
Feminism is not equality, it only looks at the female side.
That's why egalitarianism is a better idea. 1. The name is much more friendly for everyone 2. For equality, both men's and women's rights need to be worked on.
I think the better question is "what incentive has feminism given men to support it?"
Personally I think feminism has done a lot of positive things for women's rights and gender equality (although other factors are involved-- society in general is more accommodating to people's needs today than in the past, but I digress..)
But I think a lot of feminist doctrine has becoming misguided in recent years. For some feminists, it seems equality wasn't enough, and now they want forced 50/50 equity across all strata of the workplace, in politics, and in society.
There are other issues with modern feminism-- which I've already spilled ink over on previous GaG posts so I won't get into them here.
So again, the question is "what has modern feminism done to bring modern men into the fold?" If you have a social or political cause you believe in, then the burden of proof is on you alone. You have to convince us of the value of your cause. Not the other way around. It's like if I wanted you to turn vegan, I wouldn't come on GaG and be like "why do so many meat eaters hate veganism?" And then list answers like "they hate animals and want them to suffer". I'd talk about how veganism improves my health, and how it might improve yours too. I'd talk about the reduced dependence on the meat industry, and how being a more informed consumer can make you feel more independent.
Oh and also, I have yet to meet a single feminist who can rationally explain to me the value of her position. I even posted in the r/feminism sub-reddit asking for a discussion with non-extreme feminists about what it is they do, and in response I got crickets. And yet every third post on that page is something bashing menor playing a victim role and it gets like 2k upvotes. I'm sure there are sensible feminists who want equality for both women AND men, but we just don't hear their voices. All we hear from are the 3rd/4th wave headcases who wanna spread victimhood and misandry. It doesn't make for a very compelling case of feminism's merits when that's all we're presented.
In the uk, a father dosen't have automatic rights to their child. So a mother can basically dictate everything about access and custody on a whim, and even when taken through courts they favour the mother in most cases. When i see a feminist talking about true equality and how this inequality needs addressing, then i'll believe that feminism isn't just about getting whats best for women. Inequality in all forms needs addressing, not selectively based on what suits
Feminism has a long history of stating that they are working towards equality and lobying quietly for laws and regulations that are explicitly anti male. Lying to congress, creating policy that is explicitly unfair and when caught blaming the "patriarchy" for their own misdeeds.
Feminism™ only supports equality when single, fat, broke, & slutty women benefit from it. Every other demographic is privileged and oppressors.
Under Feminism™ we need to increase taxes on the productive members of society in order to make things "equal"... (while ignoring the fact that triggered Susie is already paying NEGATIVE income taxes when you factor in the cost of welfare benefits she's inevitably consuming.)
Because Feminism is and always has been a hate movement base don deception. It uses half truths and double speak to push a radical hate agenda. BUT not all Feminists are bad people, plenty are good people who are being lied to, the term for that it "useful Idiots".
That is fact, plenty of evidence to support that claim. People have been making this exact same debate for about 100 years at least now. If you don't know this it's because you have not been looking hard or long enough.
Do you expect to have a real debate on the matter when you present the question in this immature way?
I'm looking for the option which is true, where feminism does not stand for equality and is but a veil for sexism, victimization complex and female entitlement.
The modern twisted version of feminism has nothing to do with equal rights and social standing. It's all about misandry, infantilizing women, authoritarianism, fearmongering, tearing men down instead of building women up, and double standards. Modern day "feminists" have taken a beautiful force for good and corrupted it in sn unbelievably awful manner. These people are making Susan B. Anthony and Betty Friedan turn over in their graves.
Egalitrianism is about equality of the sexes and I think everyone is in favour of that. The confusion creeps is because femanism is often and incorrectly used to mean egalitrianism. (Which if you think about is a bias towards women). Femanism is about promoting women above men which I think most women's and women would be against. So semantics is the answer.
Feminist are the worst kind of women lol. We’ve already reached social equality a while ago, and feminist are still pushing agendas that don’t need to be pushed. Their whole attitude is that they don’t need men. They’re just fine without men. And they have this delusion that they need to act masculine in an attempt to be equal. Biologically we will never be the same. They think otherwise. Why would a man want to date a woman like this? Give me one good reason lol.
Because most men confuse feminists with feminazis. As I see it feminists are for equality between men and women in every aspect of life, while feminazis are for the female over male dominion, and they express a negative attitude towards men. I think that's the reason why some men hate feminism- the confusion of the two types. And some men are just idiots.
I dont believe that a single ideology should have a monopoly on women's rights. I respect the right to self determination of men and women. I dont think its necessary that gender quotas exist. Individual men and women dont have to be equal if they dont want to.

i'm not white and i wouldn't want that name.
I agree with you
Exactly, I want equality but I hope you can see why men wouldn't want it to be named feminism.
An equality movement shouldn't focus on just one gender. That's a recipe for inequality.
While some feminists may want to help men the movement as a whole just ignores our issues.
Leading question.

How are they telling us they don't need men when they are constantly promoting having sex with many men?
