Yeah, it's most definitely the real world. Prison is filled with the realest people you'll ever meet. (But you won't personally meet them, because you're not going there, and I'm certainly glad for that.)

I think others here have answered that question in their own comments. It's because most people -- even criminals -- actually care about children and don't want to see them harmed.
It’s the worst crime possible, besides murder and the lowest of the low.
If you would accept my opinion then I would say that it is probably seen as one if not the less "honorable" crime. There is no respect for them
because most other inmates are parents.
All I will say is my cell mate is a kiddy rapist, he better not spout that bullshit to me and I'm not gonna die if i can't help him and not get killed.

But here people commit crimes to support thelselves and family, and they value the idea of family more than local laws.
Sure there are genuine bad people, but most people have soft spots for children, and would not tolerate abuse.
