It's the thought that counts, I guess; but this doesn't really do anything. Arguably it raises awareness, but I wonder how much change that is going to inspire.

Thats retarded, women need men in their community to take an active role protecting them, not brass knuckles.
Yes it's helpful.

This is not really helpful for a couple of reasons:
1. Sex traffickers are unlikely to be unarmed. If you're carrying brass knuckles and they're carrying guns, well you're screwed.
2. Women given free brass knuckles might use these for reasons unrelated to protecting themselves from traffickers. These women could get into fights and use these as weapons. While I'm not in any form or fashion diminishing the problem of sex trafficking, ask yourself, what is more common, women getting kidnapped and sold into sex slavery or (young) women getting into fights? Do we really want to arm these women with something that could potentially result in them hurting other women worse?
3. Sex traffickers are unlikely to work alone. Even if sex traffickers were unarmed, if they wanted to kidnap women, they're likely to travel with more than one person. Not even brass knuckles can fight off a group of men.
4. Sex traffickers are more likely to be more crafty. Not all sex traffickers simply kidnap women and force them against their will. Many gain the trust of women and subdue them when they drop their guard, and the woman might not have enough time to use her brass knuckles. Unfortunately, some women even get trafficked by their own family and they might not see it coming.
5. It fails to mention the young children sold into sex slavery. It's not always grown women that are forced into sex slavery. Much too often, it's usually some little girl that gets kidnapped and trafficked. Little girls, even with brass knuckles, are unlikely to defend themselves and kids shouldn't have them anyway.
I say the best way to protect yourself from sex trafficking is to be wise. First, do not trust strange men. Sure, plenty of good men exist, but as we know, bad ones do too. Don't take any chances trying to determine whether or not a person is good or bad. Don't do things such as getting in a car with any strange man. If you need a ride or something, call a taxi or Uber and make sure it is legit. If you don't have money, call a family member or person you can trust. Second, stay out of prostitution. It's easy that the guys that you serve as a prostitute can kidnap you and force you into sex slavery. There are safer and more honorable ways to make money, girls. Third, never go out alone. If you do, well, make sure to stay in public places. Make sure people are able to witness something bad going down and don't be afraid to ask for help if you feel you need it. Fourth, If you have children, keep an eye on them at all times. Too many sick pedophiles exist out here that view your children as sex objects and gold mines. Always protect your kids.People who think a majority of women will somehow be able to save themselves using a couple self-defense classes or 3D printed brass knuckles are idiots. Generally most women do not possess the strength, size, or constant training needed to protect themselves from a halfway competent man, as many men already have trouble defending themselves when attacked by hand.
Women need things like tasers, pepper spray, or guns for self-defense, and even then if she doesn't have said tool on her all the time it really doesn't matter. They realized this generations ago as there were specifically marketed firearms just for women and prostitutes that they could use to shoot and then run.
You aren't going to protect yourself against a kidnapper with these rainbow brass knuckles, you'll hit him, he'll sock you up against the face and break your cheekbone, then deliver a blow to your abdomen that will instantly incapacitate you. Now you're in the same position as you would have been otherwise but most likely even more damaged because he got angry. This isn't meant to be a "scary" story, nor is it meant to say men shouldn't care to help protect women, but this is reality. Until we face the cruel reality that women who are victimized rarely escape from it with their fists, nothing will change and we will keep marketing pink brass knuckles.First, brass knuckles are useless if you can't throw a proper punch in the first place, and most people don't know how to properly punch, especially women. Besides, punching is not the only skill that you would need to defend yourself. Furthermore, would you even have time to put it on if someone attacked you by surprise? Second, brass knuckles are illegal in many countries while some better alternatives are available. Third, brass knuckles improve punching by adding weight so I doubt the effectiveness of plastic bass knuckles.
Not helpful. He should pass out Mace or tazers. Brass knuckles imply a woman is willing to throw a punch and actually arm herself with something that has to be lined up with fingers.
Hey, they're free though 🤷. I just don't see how exactly most of the females would fare with them.So many things wrong with that. First of all if you actually want to stop the problem you do not do it by arming the victims, that just creates an escalation like some of the gun problems in USA. You need to address the actual sex trafficking.
Secondly its even harmful since people who self defense training or weapons often put themselves into more danger than they would otherwise have instead of simply running away resulting in worse results. It's only helpful to create more awareness around the issue. I wouldn't feel safer with brass knuckles if I had never thrown a punch and I was likely to be up against two or more experienced criminals.
A better solution is to have a concealed firearm and know how to use it. Also carry pepper spray, and/or if you can help it, never walk alone.I think it's a bit odd to give only women weapons (it implies that women cannot be traffickers, and that men cannot be victims of crime).
In this particular case, it looks like they're 3D printed. Plastic knuckles seem like they may break apart in a punch or two. I worry that they would only annoy the attacker and not incapacitate them.would be better to just give them a gun though most sex trafficking uses tricks and such (date rape drugs, a woman to lull them into a sense of security and seem nonthreatening (they found most sex traffickers where actually women (especially in places like asia)) etc.).
I can't vote one way or the other.
This man's heart seems to be in the right place.
Assuming that the person using brass knuckles knows how to throw a punch, then yes it's a good idea.
Honestly, if there is a risk of human trafficking, giving women brass knuckles is a fine first step, but I think pepper spray, or a pistol would be far more effective. They are better options out there than this, also I am leery on how painful they are to the user to be used compared to the person receiving the punches. Pepper spray and ir a taser (not a stun gun) would be easier for her to use.
But I don't think that these should be here only line of defense. If these fail then as long as they are old enough (atleast 21 years of age) then a Concealed firearm would be the final line of defense.
This could be helpful, but there are way better options that don't require physical contact. Those are plastic not brass and no it's not gonna help them they aren't trained fighters nor do they possess the strength or technique to do anything effective with them. I doubt those women even know the proper way to use brass knuckles.
Not only that but the people who deal with sex trafficking are violent killers usually armed with knives and firearms.Plastic kncuckles? Cute but worthless.
Brass knuckles will be more effective... but unless you have a go punch its useless.
I'd rather see free defensive martial arts training instead. Honestly.Women aren't being kidnapped from the streets. They are being lured to the US and other developed countries on a promise of legitimate work, then forced into prostitution. Asian "massage" parlors are notorious for this.
It's better then nothing, thankfully getting kidnapped is really rare and most of use never will. I think a gun would do a lot better or some free martial art classes.
Those would be completely worthless against a man. Also, in spite of the stupid movies and the media propaganda, there is no sex trafficking in the USA unless the girl is willing. I can't think of any situation where you could sell her body and for her not to ask some guy for help or to ask him to call the police. Not only that; but, aside from the risk of life imprisonment for kidnapping, hiring guards to watch the girls 24/7 would be necessary or they would leave and that would cost too much; especially since there are a huge number of willing girls that would work for a percentage.
Brass knuckles are illegal in a lot of states, and they're useless unless you already know how defend yourself with your fists. At least give people something thats a force multiplier and extends your reach like a baton or something.
I'd hand out these claws for pulled pork.
where does this story originate from? if he was giving them out here he would be arrested and most likely the women carrying them would be too. maybe a rape alarm would be a more sensible option
we women need something to protect us with out it being used against us and killing us too ! I do not know of another weapon we women can use to protect ourselves against some men whos main interest is harming females
the illusion of protection is worse than no protection, because if you believe you have protection when you don't, you won't seek real protection.
