Probably going to jail tomorrow, any advice?

So i got caught up in a little trouble, got busted in a car with some drugs, I am in court tomorrow and my solicitors saying i could get possible prison time. So now I am quite scared and wondering if womens jails are really that bad?
Few people are telling me womans jails are worse then mens? Any advice of anyone who has been in jail female or male would also be appreciated on what to expect.

When you get to jail, you will be booked, fingerprinted, searched everywhere, and dressed out in orange if that is what your county uses. You will be searched often, usually strip searched. As for having problems while locked up, it mostly depends on how you carry yourself and how you act. If you have an attitude, it will be addressed. If you behave yourself it won't be quite so unpleasant. It is not a good place to be, but you will learn a lot about yourself and others. I would suggest that you have people on the outside to write to and send you money to get the things you need. If you have a drug problem address it while you are locked up so you don't make bad choices in the future.

That sounds really really scary, I was stripseached the night I was arrested and that was bad enough

Good luck. Basically listen to what they tell you. Always watch out. Dont borrow anything of an inmate's, usually they want double. Dont drawl attention to your cell. Stay to yourself unless you get approached. Some say the best way to survive is get into a little click or get some friends. Depends on the prison really and the security levels. Some you dont have to worry. Some you do. Everyone experiences it differently.

Well you could ask for some less time and ask the court to give you another chance if at all this is your first time. If it's jail then try to behave good they might send you out soon. Inmates might be bully and there will be gangs too. Just don't end up being more worst that you would love to get back there again.

It's damn easy to tell now. The people who are regular or have been there long time don't give up easily on new people and tend to make them feel low like death or get them involved.

Hmmm. I guess it's better to not worry and rather hope to ask the judge for a minimal sentence or to give you chance or leave you on patrol where in you would be within the limits of a city or job. If not just stay and positive and try reaching us and be good.

I work with inmates, both male and female. Keep your head down, obey orders from guards and don't snitch for anything. If you do that, your times will be easier. Don't do what I say and your life will probably be cut short before your trial/sentencing is done.

In my experience in working in prisons women tend to form “families,” whereas men join gangs, kill other gang members. Believe it or not women prisoners are nasty as fuck compared to men when it comes to hygiene. Throwing used pads at one another in “fights.” For men you’re expected to go w your race, regardless of whether you were involved in it to begin w. I would say avoid favors, keep a low profile and don’t turn into a rat.

Wear multiple pairs of underwear, socks and bras if possible. They rarely ever let you wash your undergarments or give you new stuff so take more than one that way you can take turns wearing one etc. Dip the cornbread in the koolaid. Or warm it up with a piece of cheese then add ham. Never smell the food.

Take cheap shoes.

You'll be treated like shit by the gaurds, not allowed any extra pads or tampons even if you need them. Its going to be an awful punishment, with inhumane treatment on top of that. Be sure to say thanks to the privatized prison system.

@Shamalien well, not run by the current state no, but give it an impeachment and a progressive leadership and yes it would end up being better. Right now prisons are deplorably unregulated and over-capitalistic nightmares. Remember joe arpaio? And all the shit he got away with? I know inmates are a hard crowd to draw sympathy for, but many of them are merely victims of drug addiction who end up recieving all punishment and no rehabilitation.
