I'm not talking about Hillary Clinton in particular, but just a woman as a president in general. How would you feel about that? Do you think you could handle it?
I started out with very high regards for women. There's times I thought women could and did vote for women or women tickets, and times I thought... they should not. I've seen some very talented women, that are exceptional and stable.. personally. I've also seen women who may have some great gift, but are so moody, manipulative, or other flaws... I wouldn't want them in charge of anything. I literally said that to prior GFs... that after seeing what I saw of their god awful mood swings and emotional lack of control, I would never vote for a woman president. Maybe that wasn't fair as it was a projection from those few people and doesn't apply to all women. They can be really awful in my experience... and do I want them in charge of men if their mood shifts that much? Note that there are males with these issues but my perception is men have more emotional regulation. This is a top position over the military.
That said... women excel at multi tasking, memory, empathy, relating to certain groups, etc.. can be excellent in some military roles... and lets not forget... this is the top military person!
I think a woman could do a decent job and it will happen in our lifetimes. There's a select few, it's more about character and personality, and heart.
I actually like Tulsi Gabbard, of what I've heard her say, in how she communications, how she carries herself. Laugh if you will, she strikes me as having more quality than most. But... light on experience in politics.
Elizabeth Warren used to be high on my list, but not so sure at this point. I'm not a left leaner and... I just don't see it at this point.
Lastly... I think there is some risk to having a woman over a male. No way around it, there is a power situation. Some countries may thnk they can "test" and "push" us. If they perceive that, it gets us into shooting wars and people get killed. With Trump, they back down... he projects "I'm an ass". That has worked so far in general minimzing use of force. If one projects weakness... others may pounce... and any change from Trump is going to be a major change...
Name me the female President, I'll tell you if I would want one. The gender mattering less than what the gender has going on inside his or her head.
Give me an American version of Lady Margaret Thatcher, and I would take her in a heartbeat. Knows her own mind, extremely hard working, utterly disdainful of can't and the "flower power" lingo of her time. In no doubt of what is right and what is wrong and not being at all afraid to express it.
While I cannot say that I shared her views in every detail, and while her lack of tact and diplomacy was sometimes her own worst enemy, she was 1 in a million. She spoke her mind and was not only not afraid to tell you what she thinks, she would sometimes tell you what you thought too.
This is in contrast to the shrill Senator Warren or the drippy Senator Harris - the latter of whom, when serving as California's AG, did her best impression of being Margaret Thatcher until it became inconvenient. Both women affect to be principled but are as trendy and superficial as any high school sophomore.
In a better time, these two women would not have been taken seriously. Warren, who has careened from one party to the other and panders to the most base instincts of envy and resentment. Harris, of whom it can be fairly said - paraphrasing a line from a British play - "I'm a woman of no convictions at least I think I am."
There are and have been some seriously impressive women who might have been superb Presidents. Most recently the likes of Condelezza Rice and - arguably - Nikki Haley. Senator Klobuchar also has something to be said for her. However, for the most part, it is the curse of a populist age that it tends to elevate the shrill and the superficial in place of the principled and the intellectual.
Thus, the current spate of candidates - Klobuchar excepted. Tinny, brittle, artificial and singularly unimpressive. The problem then being not their gender but their character.
It is not a question of wanting a female President. It is rather a problem of getting the right female President.

Honestly I could care less. I don't vote by party, gender, or race. I go by policy. What are you going to do for me. My mindset is mostly libertarian, but frankly some of them are straight crazy like the tea party.
Who cares about the wrapping, what have they done in the past and what do they promise to do. They're not going to the NFL, or shooting a porn. They're directing policy makers and interacting with world leaders to position our nation, and our people to have better lives hopefully.

I flourished in that time as pre-existing conditions were lifted and I got a government job, opened a business and bought a house. Just like during the housing crisis I dealt in debt and alcohol because they were winners. You have to adapt even if a situation isn't ideal for you.
Does that have to be my only other option? No. I don't have to vote for a climate denying scapegoat with the philosophical identity of the Koch brothers or a woke sherbert haired genderless alien. Do I agree with everything AOC says? No. But do we share similar beliefs? In aggregate, yes. Housing as a right, green new deal, universal healthcare, eliminating debt for students, lowering loan interest rates; all yes. Her stances on immigration, no. I vehemently disagree with her on immigration. But she isn't thr most PC of them. She shot down charged comments thrown at her she was asked why she endorsed an old white guy. She said policy mattered. He was a policy driven candidate with an unwavering track record. So she supported Bernie. Not Warren. Not Tulsi. Who are similar in ideology but different. She certainly wouldn't support Harris. They have vastly different opinions.

According to the United States Constitution, only Congress can enact legislation. Once the bill has cleared both the House and the Senate it goes before the President for his signature or veto. The President can issue Executive Orders.
@joeblow123 There is no error there. Legislation can be written by anyone, but only a member of congress can introduce a bill for consideration. A draft is any piece of written legislation, at whatever stage of preparation, that has not yet been introduced. Presidents and their cabinets often contribute there ideas for legislation that match their own platforms by drafting legislation when they are negotiating with congress and building political alliances. From there members of congress modify the draft to get to something they feel is better suited to represent their constituents and those of other members of congress, but still close enough that the president will sign it into law when it hits his desk. Not only dose the president write legislation and negotiate in this way, many lobbyist for special interest groups do as well. Everyone can technically participate in this way if they have the gumption to do so, but ultimately it is up to members of congress which ideas they choose to pursue, introduce, and debate, and pass while in office as representatives for the people.
@joeblow123 Executive orders have limited legitimate legal scope. When abused they are easily shut down and overturned by judicial review and anything that requires funding can be stalled via the appropriations bill in the legislature. There is a right way to do things (via congress) and if a President tries to go his own way like a dictator he ends up in checkmate by checks and balances and ends up an impotent isolated wimp that will be ridiculed endlessly by congress and in the media. If you want to be an effective leader, you have to work with people.

Yes, I disagree with a number of her domestic-policies, but her foreign-policy is exactly what the Union needs, and she is civil enough to listen to fellow-citizens, but of different persuasion. Reasoning with her should not be hopeless, as compared to her 'Democratic' rivals, who simply live in bubbles, think fallicious ad hominem attacks are actual valid arguments, and refuse to do the very basic for any functional democracy to work: peaceably exchange ideas.
Why not? If she is competent, and has experience with international relations, and has a solid platform, oh, but nobody really has a platform, anymore. They just crap on the others! I think like a majority of men, it doesn't bother me to have a female president. I think so many women think that we as men are scared that "strong, independent" women are taking over. Never bothered me one bit, many women have been strong as well as independent long before all this, including my mom as well as hundreds of thousands of single mom's making it on their own. I just hope that whatever lady becomes our first president is nothing like the women I've worked w in numerous businesses. Catty, always talking behind each other's back, holding a grudge for life. I work in the medical industry, run entirely by women employee wise as well as management wise, who tend to break down crying, arguing w one another, etc., etc. It's good for me cause I'm one of the few males who works here who is left alone. Maybe because I work a lot of OT that many of the women won't. So yes I'm good w a female president, let them take the blame for once lol
Where I live we don't have presidents, we have prime ministers. We did have a female prime minister but she only became prime minister via a power play within her own party where they knifed the sitting prime minister in the back (figuratively speaking) and scrapped his best policies. As a result her party tanked in the polls and were forced to reinstate the original guy as prime minister again. Unfortunately it was too late and they lost the election to one of the most right wing chauvinistic bastards of all time. It was a real shame because the guy she usurped was one of the smartest people ever to be prime minister and he could've changed the country for the better.
If a woman were to run for office, I would vote for her if I agreed with her policies. The gender of the leader doesn't matter to me at all.

I never want to have a female president because she's a female. I want a competent president who is able to do their duty and do it well. If she happens to be a female, then okay, but never because she's a female.
I wouldn't mind for a change for once. I mean we had someone of color as President, that started a whole new movement of change. Who knows what a woman will do to our country as a whole? And it'll probably make other countries respect us more because we're pretty much a joke to others.

I don't care about the gender. But I'm not sure everyone else is ready for it. In particular the leftists. Anyone that went along with the Hilary campaign saying the "I'm with her" or "it's time" slogan's is not ready. Not because it's Hilary, but because if you can't divorce yourself from the gender of the candidate then the problem is with you. That's what I say to them; it's the feminist and the progressive that isn't ready for a female president.
Someone like Tulsi Gabbard ain't bad, but even with Tulsi I think you'll still get psychos that will accuse you of sexism after you disagree with a policy they like. So there would need to be few enough progressive degenerates in order to say the country is ready.

The problem I have with female candidates is that they often rely on their sex to be elected. "If you elect me, I'll be a female president and it's nice and progressive" "If you don't elect me, you're a sexist" They also tend to subscribe more to identity politics.

I'm not too fond of it, mainly because pretty much all women striving for positions of power I've met and/or observed tend to be worse people than their male counterparts. I wouldn’t be opposed to a female president at all, provided she is the best candidate. If she is the most qualified candidate, and appears to represent my beliefs, then by all means I would vote for one.
However, Im not going to vote for a woman for the sake of saying “I witnessed our first female president.”

I wouldn't hesitate to vote for a candidate who just happened to be a woman if I agreed with her on the major issues and her vision for the country. But I would never vote for a candidate because she was a woman.
While I don't think we "need" a female president or that "it's about time we did", I'd be ok with a woman as president as long as she's a constitutional originalist and socially conservative. Stances on issues and loyalty to the constitution are infinitely more important than a candidate's sex.

I don't care what gender the president is as long as they have the right values and the right abilities to get things done. The fact is that person is just far more likely to be a man. But if the most qualified candidate is a woman I would absolutely vote for her.
Gender doesn't matter, i want a president who has a past with actions to back up what they say, and a well thought out plan to back up what they promise. Someone who doesn't shill for corporations and be their mouth piece. One who will make our government run as a social maintenance system and not like a wall street capitalist organization. One who cares about the people of poverty class and wants to help them out of it, and some who knows what the fuck they are doing when it comes to politics

No. I don't respect a woman who isn't a good wife and mom with a family. And if she is President she will not be home with the kids or cooking a meal for her husband so she isn't being a good wife and mom. Therefore I could not respect a woman trying to be, or being President.

Where Joan Allen is being considered for the vice presidency and has heated dialogue with her nemesis played by Gary Oldman who made an off-color comment and she responded that we should be glad for her sexual activities because the last thing we would is a woman with her finger on the button who isn't getting any.
