Germans killed millions of their citizens and raped millions of women and children, and they are still forgiving them and hating on Russians for occupying them. Russia never commited mass rapes or murders of children. Germans did.

1) people here saying the soviets were worse than the nazis have no idea what they're talking about. the nazi treatment of eastern Europe was almost as bad as what the third world is accustomed to under formerly european and now American rule. no, the soviet did not starve their eastern Europe and while their treatment of east germany was impolite it wasn't genocidal and compared to, for example, american-controlled states (latin america, congo, the philippines...) and the plans the nazis had for eastern Europe (extermination) east germany enjoyed heavenly standards of living. it may as well also be worth remembering that the soviet union defeated germany almost single-handedly and suffered by far the heaviest losses (its male population was almost reduced to a half and much of the country was destroyed).
2) to try to answer your question, the soviet rule is more recent and fresher in their memories than the lastest german invasion, so here you might have a reason, but if you're trying to make a rhetorical point, i agree with you fully. still, the dissolution of the soviet union, while terrible and tragic for it's own population, doesn't seem to have impacted its satellite states in a negative way. it was overall a tragedy if you look at any objective metric, but only for people who live within the former soviet union. i don't condone the european integration of eastern Europe (because it was accompanied by severing the ties eastern european countries had with each other and which are now reforming), but it's not an inaccurate observation of a non-soviet Easter european that things took a turn for the better after their detachment from the soviet sphere.

Still the majority of them hate communism more and because so many now live in Germany, have been educated in Germany or have worked in Germany there's less bad feeling. It's a thing with older folks from eastern bloc countries who survived socialism that they all can speak Russian, now the younger speak either German or English as a 2nd language.

Germany after WW2 wasn't supposed to remained divided just like eastern Europe wasn't meant to subjugate under socialism but barring starting WW3 there was little the western allies could do.
German reunification was more a case of west Germany taking over eastern Germany with the east more than willing to let it happen, which nearly broke west Germany building the east up after 45 years of the ravages of socialism. If Austria and Germany decided Democratically to reunite then there's nothing really to stop them. Germany is the economic powerhouse of Europe and basically props up the other European countries apart from France. Germany does not honor their NATO commitments. You likely know all this and their military equipment is antiquated and falling apart which is surprising considering how strong the German armaments industry is. Russia made a deal with the nazis for Lithuania, Latvia Estonia and Finland as well.
