Both but mostly nurture. I believe it’s engrained in all of us from a young age. We go shopping for girl toys and boy toys, girl clothes and boy clothes, they are always separated and the boys toys are always cars and tools while girls have jewelry and barbies. Dads put their sons in sports like football when they get in late elementary school and cub scouts while moms Put their daughters in cheer and Girl Scouts. In Cub scouts boys learn how to survive in nature and in girl scouts you make bracelets and sell cookies. Makeup has always been marketed towards women only until around 2016 and packaging for many toiletries are flowery and pink while men’s are always the “rough and wild” type of themes. It’s very gendered everywhere you go so ofcourse that’s why they exists. I was raised with both masculine and feminine influences because my parents had two daughters so they equally put femininity and masculinity into me and my sister. I personally turned out in the middle, I love “girly” things like makeup and clothes but I also love hard work and labor, playing sports with my friends, I’m a huge geek, and workouts (like weights and stuff). I have a mix of friends that are guys and girls. I do believe a lot us to do with nurture and if I was raised purely feminine I would be completely different. That’s also why some men like dominant women aswell is because three don’t think of gender roles and why most people split checks and both genders work in families now. It all has to do with societal gender roles. I do believe the nature though has to do with childbirth and protection because even in nature the mama bird takes care of her young while the dad bird protects them. But after that they both live care free without any sort of gender roles after that. I believe it’s the same with humans but society made it was more gendered.

Guys aren't born emotionless. Girls aren't born making a sandwhich. These are nurtured. Nature? Nature is us ladies being emotional thinkers and men being logical thinkers. But somehow being told that, society goes and says, 'Oh so girls should only be used for sex and food and men are the only ones who should work. Why? Oh, because they think logically. That must mean they're smart. And women will just cry if they get in a quarrel- keep her away from any job'. Toxic thoughts like these are why sexism exists. Society was told one basic fact, made up a bunch of lies that we're finally starting to breed out. Until the 60s, these forms still existed.
There are a lot of natural differences between men and women, but there are a lot of things that are taught. There are even more things that are different from individual to individual.
Gender roles are largely nature. Risk taking is individually and genetically more beneficial for men than for women. That's why you see men take more risks, get more results, and die more often, as a result. That's also why, for genetic reasons, men are less stable than women. This means that there are more male geniuses than female geniuses, but also more male idiots than female idiots. This is true for other genetic conditions as well.
It's all relative of course, since physical resistance, strength, intelligence, and other attributes can be trained and practiced as well. A lot of the differences we see between men and women are about expectations. From early childhood, boys and girls both get different ideas about what is expected of them, both from their parents and seeing how older men and women behave differently. This will vary from society to society, but in all societies these expectations usually have some basis on the biological tendency differences.
So nature more than nurture, but nurture is definitely a factor as well.
It's a bit of both. To put it this way the women was probably seen as the house person starting back when we were hunter gather bands. Guys tend to be stronger physically and braver/dumber depending on your opinion. So society placed as not rules but like a pressure that yeah to take on this sabertooth we are going to take 5 guys and do this stupid dangerous thing. Eventually we probably started sexually selecting people who exaggerated these tendencies so stronger men and more home care taker women. That is my idea of what may have happened.

Societal pressures, if someone steps out of them, notice how quick most people are to ridicule them.
If a man is dependant, he is treated like he is a waste of space, and a burden, if a woman is independent, she is accused of "trying to be a man".
Really though, take any trait considered to be for one gender and give it to the other, and watch how many will judge them for it.Chimpanzees and gorillas naturally assume roles by gender and this is a basic survival arrangement. In human society and contemporary nurture, human gender roles are programmed out mostly since we are not currently in a survival mode of existence. However if the populations reduce greatly due to this and we are thrust back into survival mode, natural roles will be assumed again to survive.
Nature its how we propagate the species. Now as we as a species evolve so do gender roles. What most fail to realise is that the female of or species is the sex that is of utmost importance or you can take a very few men long as you have enough women of childbearing age and species survived turned around the species dies gender roles at the cord must always put the safety of the female first men are given the gifts of aggression and upper body strength to protect not to harm or subjugate
I think they have existed since the stone age because of territory wars and men being stronger than females. They just became the superior species cause in the animal kingdom it's the survival of the fittest and the weak depends on the strong. This got cultivated over the years but once we started to think it started changing if we didn't have our human brain and think we would still be like the old days
It's partwise a intelligent construct.
It doesn't need to be the stereotypical way how people think it should be.
It's up to each person how they want it to be.
Just have in mind that it will effect your dating pool who that will be available. We're naturally different. We were just smart enough to accept it and adapted over time. Feminism tried to destroyed it. But some of the things listed is biased also. Social pressure just twisted the roles and made it worse.
Almost all gender roles exist because of nature, but modern technology now allows women to participate in society in ways that were not possible in the past, so they are able to fill many traditionally male roles now.
But if you remove those modern technologies, and the laws that force people to behave in certain ways, people will naturally fall back into the natural gender roles that nature intended.Nurture. Humans have been seperated from nature for at least 200 years, when the industrial revolution made everything available in masses.
There are some traits that may have roots in nature.Definitely nurture. The way the world has been conditioned is responsible for it. For eg, women are supposed to be this way, they shouldn't do that etc. Both are capable of doing wonders in just about everything.
Gender roles should always have some relevance in life but shouldn’t determine anything. I think they’re there because it makes sense. Men are stronger, smarter and more dominant than women. Women are losing respect for men nowadays because they realise that they want equality but still want a dominant men. They’re confused
Nature, it's only because people judge the past on present society that we have this idea that the stereotype of the American 50s was the "before".
Why don't people realise that gender roles weren't about power or oppression, it was about maximising survival in a time where a splinter was life threatening.
Anyway after that rant are you sure you mean gender roles and not stereotypes because that's what the question has.nature. we have plenty of studies that ask children to draw and children across all cultures draw the same things by sex
men draw motion, weapons, and fights, girls draw smiles, faces, and flowers
we even have studies where we give toys to wild monkeys and the girl monkeys pick up dolls and the boy monkeys pick up trucks and action figures... why? because they have wheels and make motion.
gender roles are built into even monkeysWhat about both? More nurture than nature but evolutionary psychology also has a role.
Social pressure
Is the main reason
I'm happy being enjoying the benefits of both genders. I love womens clothing and women.
Plus I like to be submissive and a dominate to women. They call that a switchGender rolls come from nature and are typically reinforced by nurture. Its just hormones testosterone makes emotionally dull but physically strong and estrogen makes you emotional and there for more empathetic. But there by no means needed to be followed
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂ur mentality deficient if you think I’ll do that. You disgust me.
Each gender has both masculine and feminine qualities
It's just masculine qualities dominate over feminine in males and vice versa in females which is purely natural
The nurturing is derived from the natural anatomyNature
Men are naturally stronger and work better in teams
We would dominate women in nature completely
The nurture was a reflection of our nature for millenia. It harnessed our nature for the good. Instead of denying itLittle bit of both. But nature first. Good question.
It's both. Nurture that builds on or contradicts nature.
