Karens are just entitled, bossy, miserable white upper-middle-class feminist types whose parents failed them. A male Karen would just be a male feminist; the soy-boy beta who "defies gender roles" cause "masculinity is, like, hard and toxic and stuff." Think of Paul Feig, Rian Johnson, or JJ Abrams. He'd probably be named Xander.
I don't think that works, because a Karen is not someone who is inherently political. Instead, pick some overly fastidious guy who doesn't have his life together and thinks that he needs to complain about everyone else

Sometimes they are, though. Sometimes people working customer service need yelled at, there's a lot of incompetent buffoons working CS who deserve to be formally slapped. I wish formal slapping was legal. Nothing violent, just like a formal gesture of disgrace as you slap them across the face for poor service.
No? If people are bad at their jobs that's not your place it's their manager's job to fix that. I have been scolded and corrected so many times for things I've been doing correctly.
Then you label us as Karen for calling your manager. Make formal slapping a thing, and it will make customers very happy, and workers weary of slacking off. Your job in customer service in not to be a stickler for "the rules" but to make sure the customer is always right, even if they are wrong. Hey, it's not your company, it's your job. Just make the customer happy and avoid stirring up a Karen. Or welcome formal slapping.
But the customer isn't always right. If you're demanding I do something that is against my policy to do so, im not gonna do it. So do I just get slapped then?
That's what you're not understanding... well, in training they used to say "the customer is always right". That means you are on the side of the angry Karen, even if you can't do what they want, they're still "right" in your opinion. That's why you go to your own manager and see if they can do anything about it so that Karen doesn't feel like you don't actually want to help. It's not your job to defend a crap policy of the company, and it's not your job to defend the speed or efficiency of the service.
If you work at BK and you laugh at a customer when they ask to buy a single slice of cheese because you've never heard of that before, just slap yourself. Because it's a thing and so before insulting the customer, go and figure out how you can do that. I've wanted to slap a BK employee for this reason before and she would have deserved it.
But if you order something that I'm not allowed to put through the till, and you keep insisting I do so, how is that my fault?
It's your fault if it looks like it's your fault. Ask for assistance in figuring that out. If you just assume it's not possible and just tell them no, then you run the risk of being wrong and coming across as unhelpful and frankly useless to Karen, at which point she raises her voice to Karen levels. Hence Karen is always right.
That's so stupid that you're defending and promoting the verbal and sometimes physical abuse that retail and fast food workers amongst many other have to endure.
I'm saying you not being on their side the issue that brings about the verbal abuse. I'm trying to tell you how to circumvent that with a classic philosophy of the customer is always right. You will deal with many dumbasses yes, and sometimes it's you who will be dumb. Just follow this philosophy and you will have far lesser problems.

It’s something of a stereotype but many people have seen someone who fits it. A Karen is usually a type of woman you see in public that is mad about something and she wants everyone to know it. She is typically a mid 30s to late 40s white woman. She often has short hair because as a busy, active and super involved mom, long hair is too much upkeep. She demands to speak to the manager and the rules should change. She’s the reason why the line is held up for 15 minutes. Then she guzzles wine or Whiteclaw when she puts the kids to bed. I shop at Target often and I see this type of woman every so often.

A Karen is a self-important, nosy woman who demands that someone else changes the rules for her or enforces a rule she made up or she'll report you too. Karen is forever demanding to "speak to a manager" over some minor, often imagined slight, or is calling the police because her neighbor's TV was audible for 3 seconds while their front door is open, or because their car is parked half an inch too far from the curb (by her estimate - which is often wrong).
Karen can be any woman, but is usually an upper-middle class woman who is completely offended and feels personally disrespected any time ANYTHING isn't exactly her way, and she's going to make a big scene about it because she usually gets her way when she does - and loses her mind when she doesn't.
Karen will call the cops on you because you car leaked oil on the street in front of her house (except it was just water from condensation build up from the air conditioner) and will demand that the police charge you with "crimes against the environment" - and lets you know that she's calling the EPA next.
Karen will take her kids soccer team for pizza and demand that they move other customers from "her area" because "we always come here" and "my husband is a lawyer" because she doesn't want to sit by the window. She hasn't been to that pizza place for 9 months, she insisted non combining 3 coupons, and left the place a huge mess - and then leaves a negative Yelp review.

@Hermes-Paris I lived in Cleveland for a year in 2009-10, but the truth is that Karens are everywhere. That's why they've been given a name - the phenomenon is so common that we had to have a term for it.
