People deny it because they don't know about the past of the LGBT community. Most of the leading queer theorists in the 80s argued that pedophiloa is just another sexual orientation and that they're unfairly discriminated against just like gay people.

Many people consider "Thinking Sex" by Gayle Rubin to be the founding document of queer theory. You can do a quick Google search and find that document. Have a look for yourself. A few pages in she starts talking about "boy lovers" and how they're treated unfairly.
