I think it's starting to slowly fade cause right now the hot trend is racism. But people always seem to somehow find something to complain about.
Anyways I've never understood the fat acceptance thing. I think it's a terrible mentality to have that you expect people to look at you as beautiful and healthy. When you're overweight and is more susceptible to diseases and heart issues.
If you're fat and you're ok with it that's fine. I don't think you should be forcing the world to accept your ideology. And even worst telling kids it's ok...
Last thing we need is to raise obese kids and then keep telling them that they're beautiful and healthy just the way they are...
I like the idea as long as it's small and doesn't spiral. I follow a lot of small body positivity accounts on Instagram which is good, as almost all celebrities on Instagram are incredibly plastic and photoshopped to either look unexplainably big or impossibly curvaceous. I like seeing posts talking about the wrong ideas behind 'summer bodies' or pictures of short men and tall women together. As long as they don't act as if obesity or anorexia are healthy, I say go for it
I think it's great you do that, especially for your mental health. Big celebrities and influencers most of them try to normalize a certain beauty standard or that only a size 2 is beautiful when that's not true and not how real humans look.
You know how the saying "just be yourself and accept who you are" is heavily perpetuated too many times. There's a double edge sword to that saying because not everyone is really is going to accept the person just because they "feel good" about where they are. Body positive individuals really shall not take their health lightly. I mean who am I to tell them what they want to do with their lives. But if they are unhappy and feel contempt with their predicaments and wonder why people won't accept them, they are going to have to get themselves a hard reality check eventually.
To be positive about the body is a good thing. Everyone wants to feel that way and be considered beautiful. And we must show some sensitivity to the feelings of others and not insult them about their appearance. But it's time someone told the truth, even if no one wants to hear it. If you're so heavy that you could hardly breathe right, or get out of your own way, you need a doctor---right away. You are not attractive, you are not sexy, you are ill--- critically ill. You should not be wearing a bikini, you should not be on the beach, you should be in the hospital. In the end, the best way to be and stay positive about your body is to try to keep it healthy.
frankly, why do you care about what others do with their life? i'll maintain my 125 lbs, and they can do whatever they want. the only time i'll care about what an overweight individual does is if that individual is my child, mother, father, etc. because i care about their health. everything else is none of my business. they are adults, capable of rationalizing on their own and making their own decisions. i don't need to denigrate them with my "educational opinions." i used to be chubby (145 lbs) and people loved to "educate" me about being healthy. just let people be. the only time i'd care is if they said something about my own weight without being asked.
As I said, body positivity was meant for people who had disabilities they couldn't get rid of. Missing limbs, scars, birthmarks... Things those people had to live with because they don't have a choice, and body positivity was there to help them accept it and live with it. But it has since then been taken over by the fat cows to force people to accept they're fat and discard any critic. Being fat isn't part of body positivity. This is something you can change, and not wanting to change it is in fact an insult to all the people who have real disabilities and can't get rid of it.
It's an excuse for being obese. They act as if it is really good. I mean do whatever you want but if you're gonna call fit bodies ugly and working out wrong, I won't allow that because I love my health and my immunity. It's just how it is. I mean it's not easy to get a body like that. In fact I used to be a little overweight before but instead of saying I love my body and I'm satisfied with itI worked hard day in and out to transform myself and now I'm normal.
They want all of us to be fat. Only in white America. For real. You know what i been wondering. Are we āreallyā reallyā a FREE country or are we brainwashed to think we have rights. Always seems there authority can handcuff us.
To me Iām against it, but not at all to do with health. Its just because the confidence is almost always fake. Overweight people are commonly caught doing positive affirmations about themselves because they are put down. And instead of choosing to lose weight, they want to feel beautiful within their own community. But here is the biggest reason itās fake... Almost all plus size models and influencers are working out cuz they wanna be thinner. If you ask an overweight person to take a pill and theyāll lose 20lbs overnight... they will be the FIRST to take it.
Therefore I donāt believe In it. And this is coming from a bigger girl... I would take that pill to drop 20lbs overnight. Therefore Iām not body positive.
I donāt shame people on their body, but I also donāt condone being unhealthy. Thereās a lot of plus size models that are very healthy and active and then thereās people who are on that show āmy 600 pound lifeā who are severely unhealthy. I love all body types as long as their healthy. Sometimes being super skinny is also u healthy.
I think the body positive movement is great aka saying you should be proud of the things you can't help. I howver do not like the fat positive bc they lie. There are plenty of people in that movement that will say being over weight is perfectly healthy.

I am a fat woman and eat more healthier than most skinny people. I am overweight for my height but I donāt have diabetes or high blood pressure and exercise a lot actually. You want to say promoting obesity is bad but no one ever promotes it just learning how to be comfortable in your own skin. Regardless of you negative Nancyās and negative Nickās yāall parents be fat too donāt forget that!! Your dad with a nasty beer gut and your mom with the fat ass calves. Or maybe not over weight but smoking cancer sticks

I see a lot of fat shaming more than anything. So normalizing a size 2 or less is normal? Letās be honest fat people are used for everyoneās joke so itās not wrong for us to encourage ourselves to like the skin weāre in. Everyone is acting like they donāt have obese family membersš but no one wants to talk about that. Just because someone doesnāt have their rib cage poking out like most of you do doesnāt mean weāre lazy or always eat horribly
I think you kinda missed the point in my question, I'm not saying a size 2 is normal or the only healthy/beautiful size. If you check the few replies I said from the start of this post, I said "you don't need to be a size 2 to be healthy or beautiful". Second, yes some overweight people are healthy and make good choices, it's just that they have some medical condition that causes the weight. But for the vast majority it's either food addiction or unhealthy habits. It's good to be comfortable in your own skin but you shouldn't be so comfortable that you think you are perfect and therefore don't need to lose weight. You should always try to better yourself, better your health. The movement doesn't promote obesity but it promotes ideas such as "obesity is beautiful" or "obesity is healthy" by saying that size doesn't matter when it does to a certain extent health or beauty wise.
Also side note, find it kinda ironic how you're against fat shaming but fat shamed to get your point across, "your dad with a nasty beer gut and your mom with the fat ass calves". You don't have to take this question personally, I'm not looking for a fight but a discussion on the topic
Online in all medical places it is written that anything above 30 ( BMI) is bad and I support that theory, doc sites should not lie...
Lately, they let to many odd ones out to sun light and give them right to shawt...
In my opinion it is originally for those girls who think that they are fat, but in reality they are borderline anorexic...
There is some people who love fatty ones in some country in Africa they think that it is beautiful and all men want them...
I don't care that some people think out something is wrong with them ( food addiction,..), when reality they just like to sit on their back side and eat a lot of junk food all day...
I don't mind unless the bodies are dangerously over/ underweight. In that case, those people should be guided in the right direction for their own health and happiness. But who cares if you're tall or short, a bit on the chubby or skinny side, you do you.
I will only hate if those fat girls start TEASING AND BODY SHAMING girls who are skinny or in normal shape. I hope that they don't turn it against normal girls and bully them. My ex roomie was a big FAT TANK. She was damn jealous of my body so she used to call me flat ass or boobless even though i had a normal size. I also called her MILK FACTORY.
I like what I like, don't like what I don't like, and that really settles it for me. Some people need movements and support groups to help with their self-esteem. I really do not. I would not be a member of mgtow because I can handle things on my own.
I think it's good to have positivity about you body no matter the size, or disability about it.. But they didn't need a movement for it.. Just tell people to be confident and be the best they can be, instead of tryna find other ways to gas people up and make them feel like they are better..
They just did studies on health and weight and they actually found that people are healthier when they are slightly over there BMI rating. I believe for men it was about 20 pounds over and well women I wouldn't know. They also have a doctor whom wrote a book about weight and He proved that athletes were actually less healthy than people whom were over weight. I need to talk to My brother about it and get it because it might be interesting.
If people are too fat and unhealthy and don't like being told it's tough, id want people telling me how ill I'm becoming if I was and that's what obesity is a forced illness on themselves. It is not that hard to eat right and do minimum of exercise everyday to not get like that.
While it's unhealthy, I don't mind fat people living by their lifestyle if they don't want to listen to others plus it can be hard getting back to a normal diet. But what gets me annoyed is the toxic ones that will call anything and anyone fat phobic, a lot of people in the fat positivite community will have the use the excuse "exercising for mental health" if they want to lose weight or work out and be healthy. Take Lizzo or Tess holiday for example. It's because you have a few people who will call losing weight, fat phobic
That's a brief point I had in my question, the whole body positivity is way too focused on overweight people, I don't see much on body positivity towards anorexic people but that's partly because people know it's unhealthy and harmful. I just don't see how on the flip side, obesity can get on the body positivity train.

2020 is too fuckin sensitive. If your fat and your not practicing healthy living , or healthy life choices then why promote obesity.
If your pretty in the face alright. But then I got people skinny and getting fake abs? I don't know it's all crazy to me 😂
š you can honestly offend someone in 2020 by just breathing, how sensitive people are getting
Lmao especially with corona right now. Can't breathe too close haha

I think if we people stopped eating processed food and switched to homemade healthy food like other countries they could solve this problem

I call it what it is, and hope people do for me it's only polite to
body positivity is a good thing. Normalising obesity or anorexia that can be very harmful is just idiotic

There's a lot towards anorexic people among younger people. Have you heard of Annie buddies?
Gahjhhhhh... sigh.
I throw my hands in air!!!
@Aak1980 what do you mean?
