She's only 34% black so she's not even a black person, she's multi-racial, also you know black people come in a lot of shades right? so you can have a lot of light skin people and they have no white in them, besides then saying that you would mean if they have something else in them they would be lighter. Latinos have European ancestry in them why don't you look up your research before commenting. A lot of people are mix races due to slavery if you had a black parent you are black and that is how people of African ancestry come in different shades just because one person has a lot of African ancestry and looks light doesn't mean that they dont have a relative they are connected to through blood has European ancestry. Hispanic is a made up race it doesn't come from one group of people

When it comes to race, people are obsessed with only the portion of the genetic code responsible for looks. And not a person's entire genetic make up which shows ancestry. The weird thing is, we all have far more ancestors who did not contribute anything to our genetic makeup whatsoever.

All of these folks have one "Black" parent and one "White" one. They could pass as being "White" only. . . but they identify as being "Black". . . or as "Black" and "White".







No one knows their genetic make up until they take a test. Mariah may be 60% African. . . we have no idea. Because the passing of genetic traits is not an exact science. There are recessive traits your parents carry from their parents and so on. Genes for eye color, thickness of lips, curly hair, I mean they taught all this stuff in high school right?

I thought it was fairly obvious that if your a lighter skin black person you are more then likely a mix (though to be fair almost every one is a mix to some degree or another). I mean I suppose if we consider African black, then you could just be north African (but they are not what most would consider black to begin with). Is some one suggesting otherwise?

I didn't realize you had to actually clarify that to people. I mean is it because your being called black? People usually use the most defining trait to describe a person so that might be why they would call you black as well as the fact that I think for what ever reason, calling some one mulato or what have you is considered offensive which puts people in an awkward position when trying to describe another person. Otherwise it just seems odd to me that this would need to be clarified.

Not really. Black people will naturally become lighter skinned in higher latitude places in the world. As skin color is the result of the latitude of your ancestors. But having a white parent does make the process happen quicker.
