Hmmmm
Well, I don't think that people that speak in such a way are necessarily "stupid"
Though I will also agree that there is a bit of a pessimism and negative attitude towards education in the Black community... and some of these issues intertwine with each other... BUT that is more influenced by their culture, than any natural ineptitude at education.
However! I will say there is a certain standard that must be upheld in a professional setting. Speaking in such a vernacular would be counterproductive in many scenarios (for example being a principal of a high school), and there is a reason why many professional Blacks (scientists, politicians, educators, etc) outside of the Entertainment industry do not communicate in such a way.
Yes they are less educated. Not all are less intelligent but they are less educated or are trying to sound less educated. They absolutely sound unintelligent. I'm not saying you can't have slang or what have you, but when you butcher every word in the language that is goin to make you sound like your stupid and uneducated.
I assume these people attend the same schools as everyone else and have received the same education regarding the correct use of English. To choose not to use it and thrust their abomination upon us is nothing short of bad manners and they should not expect respect if they won't communicate in the common tongue.
Yes I do 100%. Learn proper fucking grammar and actually use it.
Thanks for MHO girl! <3

Vocabulary is a large part of our casual assessment of each other's intelligence. An uneducated, limited vocabulary leads me to doubt a person's intelligence.
It depends on the situation. If they are among friends, then there is no issue; however, if they are in a formal or professional setting and continue to use the same language characteristics, then I do feel that is makes people look and sound less intelligent. Every language has an informal and a formal manner of speech. If you choose to use less formal speech in a formal setting, then you are obviously ignorant of the situation, acting intentionally in a disrespectful manner, or of low intelligence. There is no other reason.
I use AAVE, or "Ebonics" and I'm fairly smart... Enough.. So not necessarily.. It's just somethin I grew up with and I happen to like it.. Now I agree that proper English is best, but I wouldn't attribute intelligence and to a certain extent education to it.. And well we know most people don't really speak totally proper English.. 😅..
I think it's their desire to separate themselves culturally from whites and other races. While we praise that as individuality and freedom, it's also a divide that continues to separate them from the rest of society, and those among them who support it are doing their race more disservice than anything else, but I get it. No easy answer to this.
Overall? No. But on average, yes. Even if not, they're glorifying poor education. Ebonics originated because way back when, black people were denied the ability to get books or an education. They couldn't speak properly because they were denied the ability to learn correctly.
Self-evidently they are less educated.
Published science* says that they are, on average, less intelligent.

Less educated. The less education you have the less vocabulary a person will have.
Intelligence is determined by your intellectual capacity, not wheather you know how to speak properly.
America overall has pretty much raped the original English language.
So... yes.
I don't necessarily *believe* it when it comes to it, but the language does give off those vibes, so subconsciously you might assume so.
Yes, it's very ghetto and I can't name an instance where someone talked like that and had anything more than hilariously stupid come out of their mouth.
not necessarily... but it can send that kind of message as a first impression...
but education isn't a facsimilie for intelligence... intelligence can be found anywhere
Most likely less educated.
Intelligence is individual based.
No, because I’ve heard them immediately straighten up and talk like a white boy when the boss walks in.
"Stupid is as stupid does" is the correct quote. Not because the vocabulary or jargon is different.
Is that not obvious?
I think it's more like their way of speaking English... everyone has different type of English.. Brits have different.. Americans have different... Indians have different..
Not less intelligent but less educated. They haven't been taught to speak English.
No, just cause one who speaks that language is just as intelligent as me or even more intelligent?
Probably not. I think ebonics was probably created by more educated African-Americans. And since it's not widespread, they and their peers would be more likely to speak it. I could be wrong though. How come?
Back in the 70's, wasn't this known as "Jive"?
Ebonics is gibberish.
