This is a terrible idea, which creates situations like the Salem Witch Trials and similar witch hunts, or the killing fields of Cambodia under the Khmer Rouge.
It's a nice idea that everyone is faithful to their country, but the problem with governments (the representation of the country) is that they are just as prone to making mistakes as the humans who are responsible for their operation.
In the larger picture, countries are just ways humans have of dividing themselves. Isn't it a better idea to find what we have in common rather than to keep fear and anger about differences?
Depends on the extent of treason.
That being said - the question isn't that there are people who deserve the death penalty. That's a clear yes. The question is, if we want government to have that amount of power to be able to kill their own citizen under certain circumstances. And there the answer is most likely no.
That's why I have theorised for a while that it probably would be better to just ship people who would normally receive the death penalty onto some lonely island and they then have the chance to either build up their own society or murder each other. Some sort of exile pretty much.

Shooting traitors lets them off way too easily.
This old soldier has more creative and slower things in mind.
Make the punishment fit the crime.
It depends on the circumstances but as someone who firmly believes that humans are evil by nature I would say we alldeserve execution that doesn't mean that we should execute someone. To take a life especially when its execution or murder (as oppsed to self defense) is not something a human righteous enough to do. Its not up for us to determine who should live or die. Thats what I think anyways.
What if your country is evil? Like North Korea evil with super power?
You don't fight for your country. You don't fight for freedom and justice or whatever. Sometimes, you don't even fight for your family. When you are in the trench, you fight for the guy sitting next to you.
The "in any way" is a little harsh. Like, trump committed treason and if he got the firing squad, fine. But the people who voted for him are responsible for enabling him. So are then also not in some small way guilty of treason? Granted, frog marching all 72 million of them in front of a firing squad would cut a lot of hate and toxicity out of this country, but it wouldn't be right to do it that way.
fireing squad is a humane execution but thats not a good reason then helping syria kill isis would be considdered treason because america doesn't like gassing isis but they let israel gas muslim christain hospitals. america will consider speaking out against any side or form government worthy of treason if this came out.
It depends on what is called "treason." I'm sure China would list everything that isn't full obedience "treason." But mainly, I;m thinking of Edward Snowden, who I support.
Oh this is how I feel about when other dudes say citizens of their own country shouldn’t vote but are okay with illegal immigrants voting due to the draft. They are too stupid to realize the vote was open to men prior to the draft. It is treason in my opinion.
I think the USA's lack of punishment for citizens who are anti-patriots who are trying to attack the country itself is why the liberal left go to be the way it is.
Treason is a really loosely term, what is treason at some point in time will be celebrated and glorified as a horic task at another point in time.
Hell no... If that were the case, line up Trump and every fucking politician before him.
Funny when you think that the exact same people who keep wanting to secede and commit mass shootings over race are the ones who keep trying to paint themselves as patriots
Why should they when their own country turns their backs on them?
Who makes the decision on what’s traitorous? Cuz half the country would see Trump swing.
Only 23 countries out of 195 practice executions, and it's just the tarded ones like china and usa.
I agree if the charges are valid. It is too easy to manipulate the rules to get rid of threats to a politician that is in charge. Too many ways to cheat the intent of the rule.
No. That's how a country becomes north korea.
I disagree. Poor people who fire
Sure, if you're a psychopath.
Absolutely not. Edward Snowden is a hero!
Who gets to define treason?
They should be incarcerated
