He disrespected our country and flag and I hate him for that... he should be executed for treason in my opinion.

First off, you don't "execute" people for treason. You arrest and try them in the criminal justice system. Yes, the system is flawed, but when due process breaks down, we all live in a world of terror. Of course, maybe you were just skipping steps, declaring your desired end result after a proper arrest and fair trial.

Should he be arrested for treason, then? Have you even READ the Constitution? Article 3, section 3: "Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort." He did not levy war against the US. He did not provide aid and comfort to the country's enemies. He knelt during a moment of jingoistic bombast. You can argue about what "levying war" specifically is, but it's a helluva lot more than "refusing to pay homage to a rag on a stick".

He can do what he wants. There is nothing treasonous about it. He is exercising a right. If anyone is treasonous, it's the people who want to take that right away from him. It's a form of free speech. If free speech only applies to people you agree with, then there is no free speech at all.
