According to various dictionaries, "racism" refers to "a belief that race is a fundamental determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race ," "a policy, system of government, etc., based upon or fostering such a doctrine; discrimination," "abusive or aggressive behavior towards members of another race on the basis of such a belief," and/or "hatred or intolerance of another race or other races." While knowing the definitions of racism, sure, the possibility definitely exists that White people can be victims of racism. Non-Whites could have the opinion that White people are biologically inferior to other races, enact and/or support policies that discriminate against White people, be abusive or aggressive towards White people on the basis of their race, and/or hate people because they're White. However, how often this stuff happens to White people compared to non-Whites is up for debate. In addition, when people say that others can't be racist to Whites, they're referring to systemic racism, which refers to a systematic method of oppressing people based on their race, usually through public and private institutions. White people can potentially be victims of systemic racism only in places where they collectively lack power. However, no such place seems to exist at the time.
Yes, of course people can be racist and discriminatory towards white people. I'm white, and have certainly had it happen to me from non-whites. The difference is that there is no systemic racism towards whites, so I may be able to shrug off the situation and find solace in other things that I don't have to worry about.
It doesn't change the fact that the racism or discrimination a white person has experienced isn't as hurtful, but their lives aren't doomed for constant discrimination over and over from the same things as much as other races who do experience systemic racism. It's all about perspective and definitions. In college I remember them telling me that racism only applies to races that are in minority. But, prejudice does not. So, in the USA, you can't be racist to white people because they are the majority, but you can be prejudicial. If I was in Japan however where white people are only a very small amount of the population, then people could be racist to white people. It is kinda dumb, but I believe this mindset was created to combat the idea of reverse-racism which some people say does not exist and is just a product of white pity. Honestly, it is one of those arguments that comes down to small details and is very frustrating. Kinda like the Assault rifle vs. Machine gun argument. It is just stupid definitions.
Yes and no, but ultimately not really. There are some people who donât like white people. But they ultimately donât have any real power to affect their lives. In the U. S. white people have held most of the power for centuries and were able to establish racist systems to keep minorities (especially black people) down. The system is rigged against us. Prejudice against whites people simply offends them. Prejudice against people of color can literally ruin or even end our lives. There arenât even any real slurs for white people. The words âcrackerâ, âKarenâ, and âcolonizerâ will never hold the same weight as the âN-wordâ for instance.
White is a race. So yes.
I've never understood what people think is co complicated about this. If it's a race and you discriminate against it, well, that's the definition of racism. It's that simple. No you can. You can be racist to anyone. Actually let me rephrase that. While it is extremely mean and rude, you could be racist to anyone. Let me give you a scenario: White person gets an A in school. Black person also gets an A. Black person says," At least I had to work for my A." Meanwhile this is the first A the white person has gotten. And they worked very hard for it. AND BAM!!! The white person just got bullied for their race. RACISM. Now my favorite teacher always told me, "It's not just about the blacks getting equality, it's not just about the native American getting equality. It ain't just about girls getting equality." he said, "It's about every last boy and girl in this world getting the fair and equal treatment we all deserve."
*my apologies if anyone was offended. I was just giving a possible scenario.No. It's not legally recognised. It's not taken seriously. But it should be.
A black kid in my child's class was calling all the kids "white trash"and when my daughter told two different teachers, she told her to just ignore it. One of the boys in her class retailitated and called the black boy "black trash" after he called him "white trash", and the white boy was suspended from school. The black kid wasn't. I took my daughter out of the school because of the prejudice stance they took. The definition of racism is "Predjudice, discrimination or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior."
There's no reason that a white person can't be a victim of racism if someone of a different race discriminates, antagonizes or claims superiority.Yes you can. Other black people have critiqued me for saying that anybody can be racist. That's just a fact. Everybody can't be a white supremist or beneficiary of White Supremacy however, only white people get that luxury. Racism and white supremacy are in the same conceptual realm but two separate phenomena, that's where the crux of the critique you are referring to lives, most people just can't articulate it. Due to global and worldwide colonialism, this is a white person's world. If you go around to all 4 corners, 5 oceans, 7 continents and violently impose social orders with you as god, what do you think is the logical conclusion of that?
There is no such thing as racism in the United States, only victimism. The problem is that the Democrat party relies on keeping blacks and minorities dependent on them and feeling like helpless victims. That's how they get their votes. They promise them a free ride. But they NEVER deliver. So on and on it goes.
There has been no nation in history that offers more opportunities for blacks and other minorities than America. It's the least racist place on planet earth. But if you are a victim of victimism and buy into the phony systemic racism crap, you will never succeed. It's not racism that is holding you back, it's believing a lie.It depends on what your definition of racism is. If racism can only be executed by a demographic with a distinct advantage in the power dynamic, then no, currently, at least in America, as white people still constitute the racial majority and it can be argued that the majority of people with money and/or power in America are white. If racism to someone else is just a word synonymous with any form of racial prejudice, anybody can be a victim of that.
Of course you can be racist to white people, it happens everyday.
When people say that âyou canât be racist to white peopleâ... what they mean is that, âsystemic Racismâ Canât apply to white people. If your in a country where the majority of people are white.
That too is completely false, though. Racist laws can be written by anyone and about anyone... Affirmative action is a good example of racism against white people in this country.Technically yes you can be racist towards white people, you can be racist towards any race. People like to use the dictionary definition of racism, which states being superior to another race and since white people are technically not the minority then you can't be racist to them, but you that's not true you can be a racist to a majority race.
I don't understand why "racism" is held in such high regard. People can pick out the chess club nerd in school and bully the hell out of him. People can make the disabled girl suicidal. People can make the fat person feel like jumping off a cliff. They can do it for the poor, sometimes even the rich, and make a jackass out of the guy who dresses real nice at some informal place Outside an era of slavery and genocide, I only see it as self-absorption to concentrate on racism and racism that. People suffer from bigotry. That's that. And you don't have to have certain skin color or ethnic background for other people to make someone feel like slitting their wrists. And if we were actually conscientious creatures rather than one so eager to point fingers at each other in hopes of gaining attention and power, we'd see that.
Sure you can.
White people experience every bit as much racism as every other race. People just don't pay attention to it because they are white. People of color will often openly be racist towards them thinking it's no big deal, all while talking about how bad racism is. Don't even realize they are doing it. It's like sexism towards men. Hardly taken seriously unless it's towards women. The statement "You can't be racist to white people" is treating white people differently on the basis of race. The sentence itself disproves it argument.
I think racism in the west was seen as the product of white people because of the genocide and the slavery. But in general racism is in every race. The main source is ignorance. It is the same ignorant motive when your mommy tells you that you're better than that lady's children just for being her child. And so, it sticks with all our elder generations they try to pass it to us, we don't hate them, we just smile at them and love them because we know it's source is ignorance.
The term "racist" has no more bearing, as nobody knows what the definition truly is. Class warfare is where it's at. Yep! There are assholes in the world. White, black, etc. Doesn't matter. Assholes.
As far as people being racist, yes, anybody can be racist to anybody. Just doesn't happen on the level they want us to believe. Are there still problems? Yes. Never gonna completely get rid of it. But mostly it isn't nearly the issue they want us to believe it is.Black people are racist toward white people too. Black people keep making racism one sided. Black people do hateful things to white people too. Black people need to Admit the problem is on both sides. Both sides Admitting Wrong is the only way to get to Right.
Of course you can.
But most people are GaG have no idea what racism even is.
Can you define racism?
Is it just mean words at folks based upon race? Was William Shockley being mean to non-"Whites" here?
Haha!!!
