Do you think China deliberately created and released COVID-19 and if so how do you make sense of the way they went about doing it?

Some people have argued that the CCP created and released the virus to cripple the worlds' economy so they could rise as a superpower but quite a few things about that narrative don't add up.

Most notably, why would they make a virus by hybridizing a pangolin and bat virus and release it by a wet market where pangolins had been held? The reason pangolins can be held is because China amended the wildlife protection act allowing people to farm and keep endangered animals in a wet market. So why make it seem like the virus came about as a result of their policies; that's terrible PR and would also hurt their rise to power. Second, why even start it in China? Why not develop a virus by crossing viruses that infect North American bats and have an undercover agent posing as a tourist release the virus in the U. S? Third, why release a virus as a bioweapon without developing a vaccine first?

I believe they created this virus. They wanted to weaken all the other countries, so they rest of the world would depend on them. Also they wanted to emerge as a superpower and they're getting there. There are new strains and the rest of the world is fighting against the COVID-19 while the Chinese economy is growing and life is almost normal there.

Okay no. First of all, the US economy will be just fine in the long run and that has been super obvious since the very beginning of the pandemic. Main concern for the long term tends to revolve around changed consumer behaviour and higher debt as opposed to a shrinking economy.

It has very little to worry about in the long term in terms of GDP. That China would eventually overtake the USA in pure PPP GDP was inevitable 10 years ago.

And by the way, China has been paying taxes on trade. Their loss by Trump trade ban was relatively small to what the USA incurred itself from it.

And if we are talking about affecting other countries economies, this virus harms countries China is trying to get close to way way way more than it harms the developed competitors of China

Also not really political expert. You can literally look at the projections for GDP growth at the FED, ECB, World Bank, OECD and such and easily verify Western economies in terms of pure GDP would recover quite quickly.

There is no empirical evidence about How it was released. “If it came from a lab”. But there is definitely evidence that the wuhan lab was doing ‘gain of function’ research on corona viruses.

As for whether it came from a lab, let's examine just the facts:
- Wuhan is the only city in entire China that has a BSL4 lab (lab qualified to work with such viruses)
- They work with coronaviruses regularly
- They had a research about coronaviruses in bats, that ended in 2019.
- French Nobel Prize winning virologist, Luc Montagnier, after examining the virus said it was modified beyond any shadow of a doubt.

Now my opinion: It goes beyond China, let's not forget that Anthony Fauci funded Wuhan lab's research that was mentioned above, and now he's instructing people how to "stay safe". I think they created it, but it's release was accidental, or at very least, not something the CCP planned to do. I don't think it was designed to be a bio-weapon, either.
