I think the wet markets and associated poor biosecurity is to blame. The lab theory is plausible but most people seem to be backing it purely for political reasons which is always a red flag. The reality is markets, even those well run are a common disease hot spots. Given coronavirus is brilliant at mutation and jumping the species barrier I think the odds point to the market theory.

No idea. The only clue that it might have escaped from a lab was that the initial outbreak was a 40 minute drive from a research facility. It doesn’t help that the internet is full of fake stories and conspiracy theories about the origins of the pandemic.
