The thought never came to me. It bears some logic.
But... did anyone win or lose here?
Or were the missiles in question silently just brought somewhere else (and possibly nearby)?
I meanwhile see the cold war rather as a procedure of BOTH sides to frighten their respective allies into submission. Obviously, they had been sufficiently successful with this... for a while.
The present preparations for the next cold war should be carefully looked at by the non-leading public. It's possible that 'they' try to fuck around with us again.
Strategically at the time both had fewer ICBMs and missles in Cuba or Turkey meant they could give a potential strike advantage before the other could respond in kind.
Russia wanted US missles out of Turkey and they us refused and set the stage with the Cuban missle crisis to achieve that and succeeded.
@gespenster_division With the Submarine-based nuclear, Multiple-target Missiles, it was a PLACATING action, a political thing, that made both sides "Save Face"
The end result, is that there are submarines, with enough weapons, STILL, to destroy the surface of the planet, so Good Comrade who really wins?
Such a BULLSHIT POST, for anyone that knows history! Don't you have something better to do, than remember some minor, "maybe" Communist 'victory"?
If it wasn't for the Soviets, and the US, in WWII, you would be speaking Russian, now, so what is your point, really?
@JackSmy if it wasn't for British and us involvement in ww2. There would be no Russia
America made a lot of mistakes in the cold war. And this missiles put there was a mistake, which JFK agreed it was a mistake. So really it was just a Win Win, they got to clean up there mistake through the use of looking like they made a deal with russia.
Which at the time deals like this came off more important due to the high tension.
Well strategically it made sense, they didn't expect the soviet counter in cuba
Hmm i thought that would be obvious tbf. If you move your pawn in chess your opponent then moves there's. If you put missiles in place to threaten there country they do the same back. Pretty sure JFK realized this was a dumb mistake with this obvious result aka why the obvious answer was for both to pull out and say they made a good deal.
Tbh from strat wise it makes zero sense unless they wanted to raise tension during the cold war for no reason. Because there is no way any even half competent person wouldn't figure out the logic would be we move missiles then so do they nvm a strategy set up in a military service.
Well the US put them in Turkey in 59 around the time Cuba became communist. The bay of pigs invasion was in 61 and the Cuban missle crisis in 62 so castro probably wouldn't never agreed to Soviet missles in his country except for the threat of the US government. The failure to overthrow castro and supporting a corrupt Cuban government through the 50s was the strategic mistake.
What were U. S. missiles doing in Turkey to begin with? That was right across the Soviet border.

One more chapter in an angry German's rant about why he hates America.
Will you also address the collapse of the USSR while the USA continues? Yeah, I didn't think so.
No because the US is about to collapse just like the USSR did.
Because you say so.
No because your bridges are collapsing
"“Our bridges are rotting dangerously, and the risk of collapse can no longer be ruled out,” architect Richard J. Dietrich told the Hanoversche Allgemeine Zeitung.
A report last March by the Federal Highway Research Institute (BASt) concluded that only 12.5 percent of Germany’s motorway bridges were in good condition, while 12.4 percent were in poor condition.
Many bridges were built in the 1960’s and 1970’s, and were therefore not designed to sustain the weight of traffic seen today, the Hanoversche Allgemeine reported.
In general, bridges are in better condition in the former East Germany, due to a mass wave of renovations after reunification, the newspaper said.
In the last few years, the Leverkusen bridge over the Rhine was subject to strict controls on large vehicles, and the bridge is set to be completely rebuilt by 2020. Former North Rhine Westphalia transport minister Michael Groschek once described it as a “monument to the fatal state of German infrastructure”.
www.thelocal.de/.../
Yes but we have higher standards for our bridges, railways etc. Check out the video and you will see.
Your "higher standards" didn't prevent the collapse of the bridge on the autobahn referenced in the article.
Did Soviet Russia build half of your bridges?
So now you are admitting that you DO have an infrastructure problem. . . but there is a reason?
Infrastructure needs maintaing and invested in as well as modernisation. America is bombing goat herders rather than do this.
www.thelocal.de/.../
Look familiar?
"A 40-metre section of a new bridge being built on the A7 Autobahn collapsed on Wednesday while dozens of people were still working on it. the accident killed one person and injuring 15 others."
www.thelocal.de/.../
June, 2016. You Germans had Russia building this bridge for you?
Only 12.5% of your bridges are in good condition, according to your own government agency. And it didn't say that condition was just in the old East Germany. So you haven't built any bridges in the past 31 years? Yeah, that sounds like a GREAT infrastructure plan.
I am not denying that we have problems in the US, so why do you deny that you have problems in Germany?
I get it. You are just one more angry European who loves to hate America. And since you have taken your user name from the 7th Panzer Division, I assume you are still butthurt about WW II.
No country teacher the truth !!! None !
They all lie to us... Winner's make up the history. Most of you think that the Civil war was about slavery! Ha!!! It was about the north asking the southern states to become part of the union The southern states were Told, that if they didn’t like it, they could “ Secede from the Union”...
The north only wanted the southern states , because they had most of the shipping routes to Europe. The north were manufactured. The south said, we don’t like the Union and we’re Out. The north said, “fuck you buddy “! You can’t leave!
So began the Civil war.
it had Nothing to do with blacks or slavery!
Would you give your life ( even now) to free blacks? No!! So, this the true history!
It was a win for everyone.
A peacefull solution benifited everyone.
The other option like a third world war, with this much nuclear power would have resulted in a apocalyptic scenario, only seen in some dystopian future books, movies, games...
The world has won. We all won! Who knows if we would exist today if Kennedy had not agreed the secret promise to Khrushchev to withdraw the missiles from Turkey (and I think Italy as well). Very likely, we all would not exist!
Whatever you need to tell yourself to sleep, and however you choose to view history, in your fantasy, is just fine with me.
All historical fact. Like the US military being defeated in Vietnam
@gespenster_division And your point is what? That having our military controlled by civilian Politicians makes it a failure? Yeah, I agree. If the Military was in control of the strategy, and the objectives, the outcome would be different!
I really have no idea but I'd bang that Russian chick in the striped blue shirt up there.
Kasia on xvideos. Wall mounted dildo. Thank me later.
Sorry comrade. Redheat.
Thank you 👍🏻
everyone has nuclear missiles. i don't know why people don't understand this. world war !!! is the end of earth
Russia moved missles out of Cuba , victory US. The ones that lost the most were the Cuban people.
They moved thr missles out of Cuba after the US moved theirs out of Turkey, the Cuban missle crisis was their plan to get us missles out of Turkey so for Russia it was mission accomplished and victory.
Nope , last time I looked USSR failed as a state. Last time I looked Cuba was used for a prison colony. I would say US won the cold war.
Oh and Russians were stupid enough to hand over launch commands for nukes to common commanders on the ground. (Chuckle) So we almost had a nuclear annihilation...
No American in his'her right mind that Bay of Pigs or the removal of missles for startegic positions is a victory.
love the photo of The Cheeky Girls lol,,,
The US political lie machine seems to have no boundaries,,,
I have read several accounts of JFK coming out on top. It was before my time so I don't really know how it went down.
Basically the US put missiles in Turkey threatening Russia, Russia asked the US to remove them, the US refused so Russia to get missiles out of Turkey put missiles in Cuba. In agreement to get US missles out of Turkey the Russians agreed to remove their missles from Cuba.
The Cuban missile crisis was a stalemate.
Russia got what they wanted, the very reason they initiated the crisis.
You're nothing but a tool for Putin
In Soviet Russia you tool Putin
I don't care how shitty it is here in the USA, it will never be better in Russia. Never in a million fucking years.
Arguably a draw really
Not at all
Preach!
The only reason we lost Vietnam though was because the brass was not allowed to do what they wanted to do.. And also it was the first war in which the burgeoning Leftist media was able to report in real time and short public opinion with their editorializing.
