What price can you put on a life? What I heard about him, though was that he was on a drug-induced, self-destructive path.
I would have delayed the settlement until after the trial verdicts, and the evidence presented there.
Yeah, right now, I think they got way too much of my tax dollars, for something I have no control over! And yeah, that angers me!! My taxes are going to that, for whatever reason, and not schools, or infrastructure, that supports all.
If the Floyd family came out, after the judgement, and said they were donating all that money to the community, to more Peaceful Law enforcement, to the schools, to the benefit of all, in his name, that would be worthy, and worth praise. Yet, I have heard nothing like that, so maybe they just want to be rich, and live high.

I've always been more in favour of having a fund made available to the wronged rather than giving them a cash lump sum. The fund would cover loss of income and any particular financial needs incurred by the loss. Applications to the fund would need to be made and justified. It would not cover luxuries. Charitable donations would be automatically approved as long as it's a registered charity.
This would ensure the longevity of the care by ensuring that the funds are used appropriately and do not dry up too quickly.
I don't see how becoming rich is appropriate, nor does it replace a loss of life or limb.
They should’ve gave them 1 million and help them with the support they need. The rest can give it to poor people, elderlies, sick people and someone that really needs it. Giving too much money won’t bring back the dead or help heal the emotional wounds nor I guess that he was poor guy anyways.. 💕✨
How people can say any amount of money is too much or too little for a family losing a loved one is baffling to me.

The family did not deserve any payout at all. It is tragic that Floyd died, but he was a criminal who did not comply with officer commands when they were first given. Had he complied, he would be alive. I do believe his death was wrong, but that is what the criminal court is for. The family did nothing to earn the money. I would feel differently if Floyd was a truly innocent man who died, but he brought it on himself and Chauvin is paying the price for his actions.
They deserved nothing. If anything, Floyd shouldn't be dead but behind bars as we speak.
27 millions for the life of a piece of crap on the brink of dying of overdose is such a longshot to make Bob Lee Swagger sweat.they didn't deserve shit. they never tried to intervene in his career criminal lifestyle before it was too late. i kinda feel like the people he fucking robbed should get some of that money. but i'm racist because i don't glorify the lives of career criminals and drug addicts.
It's hard to put a price tag on human life. It does seem pretty arbitrary but I'm assuming there's a formula they follow... previous precedent from similar situations, court findings, etc.
Fuck no! He was a piece of shit and a drain on society. If anything, give the money to poor black families, and not that dumb bitch in charge of BLM, that keeps buying million dollar homes.
Most of the time they determine a settlement based on the earning potential of the individual. In George Floyd's case I would say ten bucks. and another ten bucks for pain and suffering.
They typically end up with half that, after the insurance companies fight it out. But he deserves more. I would sue ever SOB that stood there and watched.

better him than this punk.
Nope. Max they should have received would be a cardboard casket.
It’s a bit much, but perhaps even worse is that it happened before the trial was resolved. If it turns out we arrive at the conclusion that he overdosed on speedballs, do we pay out families for that? It’s weird.
I'm not sure what giving them THAT much money will solve or why it was necessary for it to be such a huge sum...
I think it was over the top, so many innocent people are killed by police but they don’t get given 27 million dollars.
It's a couple bucks too high..
.. give or take a dozen..
.. million. They're probably happy because he died. That's way way way too much.
People get killed everyday why their family don't get anything? Completely unfair
That much and more will not replace a family member they loved, ever.
If he were a White Republican.. would he have deserved 27 million dollars?
It’s more that the city deserved to be punished by that amount.
Far much. 27 mil, because your family member died being a dirt bag. No.
