5.7K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Don't worry about "children dying from hunger".
The Afghanistan War is over now, so America is no longer spending $120,000,00 each day on it and that money can be spent elsewhere... for example, to prevent "children dying from hunger".
Is it fair that George Floyd's family got $27,000,000?
$27 million is what the City of Minneapolis agreed to pay to settle their wrongful death settlement with Floyd's family. That means that the City of Minneapolis felt it was fair and the courts agreed. Case closed.
One reason for such a large amount is to send a message to both police and cities that something needs to be done about police abuse... especially when that abuse is disproportionately against persons of color and results in death.
Let me ask you something:
If it was your child or husband who was cavalierly killed by authorities, would you not sue so the authorities can help the "children dying of hunger"? Or, would you sue the shit out of them for wiping out a family member critical to your family's survival? Let's see how magnanimous you are then...
By the way, if you're really worried about "children dying from hunger", adopt some of them and feed them yourself. Then, you should be able to sleep at night without a guilty conscience knowing that you did something about "children dying from hunger" instead of whining about what others have done or failed to do. Or are you just a hypocrite?011 Reply- +1 y

Who knows how these things get decided. Shark of a lawyer; media coverage that influenced.
America is a very litigious society. Lots of people get lots of money over frivolous court cases.
But lots of people get slighted and great injustices done against them. Lives are ruined, often for no fault of their own.
George died unnecessarily. This amount seems excessive, but it is some form of justice.00 Reply

Whitney Houstan’s daughter committed suicide even though she was worth 30,000,000 and Paris Jackson attempted suicide even though she was worth over 100,000,000 because her father died and she was lonely.

And, short of going to war, it may not be possible to help all the starving children and adults in North Korea. That has been tried but the North Korean leaders keep the food or sell it to raise money for more weapons and the food doesn't get to the people.
02 Reply1.7K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. If cops slowly murdered my handcuffed wife, I'd want a hell of a lot more but I'd be willing to take that payment in blood using my own hands. Whether other families got screwed over is another issue and I wouldn't connect them.

Because they didn't donate to him they did to his family the reason being videos was posted of him dying to which many saw as unjust his cop was then tried and found guilty of him dying which would further push people to think that somting wrong was done I'm not even saying she deserved that much but like I said if she had a case to make I'm not suprised

The money should have come directly from police unions bank accounts.

@cryscrys1 I could say the same as to why these black people don't care if it's black on black crime same thing for another black person helping other black people. Rappers, NBA basket ball players. With all their money could help a lot of poor black families. In truth these rich black people know not to help their black communities because of how they perceive them.

+1 yWhat number "would be" acceptable in a wrongful death suit? Lets say it wasn't Floyd the criminal, but a preacher who led a good life. If the same thing happened, what would be a "good" number?
015 Reply- +1 y
I read the update, and I read how a judge tossed the case out. Wanna know why? Because it happened in the fucked up state of TEXAS, the people who brought you the latest citizen vigilante anti-abortion law. If the George Floyd incident took place in Texas, it would be a whole different scenario. Cops can do anything they want in Texas, as does the legislature.
- +1 y
You "speculate" that the outcome would be the same no matter what state it occurred in, but that's all it is - speculation. And the fact that the event with the white man occurred in Texas has EVERYTHING to do with the outcome of it --- everything. If that happened in Mass, or Vermont, those cops would be on trial. At it goes to point as to how courts handle police actions in the state of Texas.
- +1 y
Again, you "speculate" that things would have unfolded in exactly the same way. What I'M saying is that the mindset of Texas judges is not the same as Minnesota's when it comes to this, nor is it of their citizens. The fact that Tony's case was thrown out of court proves that. I'm saying it is NOT because he was white. I'm saying it would be no different in Texas if it were a black man, no matter WHO protested or for how long. They wouldn't give a shit in Texas. Of course, I'm speculating on that, just as YOU speculate there would be no difference because he was black. I say it has nothing to do with color - in Texas, in my opinion.
- +1 y
I didn't say they were in vain. There were protests in Texas over Timpa's death too - those were in vain. You would "think" there'd be MORE upset over a white guy getting killed in Texas by cops, but since he was "on drugs", sorry - next.
- +1 y
Why isn't anyone outraged? Why aren't right wing conservatives outraged that a white brother was killed, in a white Conservative state? Because they don't care. But they, the conservatives, sure DO care that Floyd's case got too much attention, and too much money. Now why is THAT?
- +1 y
Leftists are brainwashed robots. They mourn when they are told to.
Their cult doesn't say it is devastating when a white man is a victim of police brutality. So why would they feel bad for white victims if they are not told so?
Read Gloyd's "honorable" biography and compare him to Tony Timpa's. - +1 y
Think what you want about leftists, but I can say the exact same thing about the right-wing... totally brainwashed by all sorts of misinformation and disinformation. And though you didn't answer my question, you are proving my point. Why weren't the CONSERVATIVES outraged that one their WHITE brothers was killed? WHY? Maybe it's the same reason the "leftists" you hate so much weren't ---- nobody TOLD THEM to be !!
- +1 y
So what you're saying is that former bad behavior by anyone of any color warrants having your throat knelt on till you can't breathe? As if the by-standing officers knew of his record? I'm not going to re-argue this case. That was done in court, just as Tony's case was thrown out of court.
You're upset that the lefties weren't equally outraged, but you don't care that no right wingers were either.
No. She should have received nothing.
