Of course, he was.
Derek Chauvin was convicted of these Minnesota crimes associated with that murder.
Since the second-degree murder offense is the worst, he was sentenced based on that crime.
This may help. It is Derek Chauvin's Sentencing Order and Memorandum Opinion (which explains the sentencing)

MEMORANDUM OPINION
...
Mr. Chauvin did not plead guilty, but he cannot be punished for exercising his constitutional right to a jury trial. Nevertheless, he must be held accountable for the death of Mr. Floyd and for doing so in a manner that was particularly cruel and an abuse of his authority. In consideration of all the facts presented at trial, this Court’s experience, and the collective experience of the entire Court over the last ten years, the Court finds the appropriate prison sentence for Mr. Chauvin is 270 months.
CONCLUSION
Part of the mission of the Minneapolis Police Department is to give citizens “voice and respect.” Here, Mr. Chauvin, rather than pursuing the MPD mission, treated Mr. Floyd without respect and denied him the dignity owed to all human beings and which he certainly would have extended to a friend or neighbor. In the Court’s view, 270 months, which amounts to an additional ten years over the presumptive 150-month sentence, is the appropriate sentence.
So anyone that doesn't agree with you or doesn't bow down to blacks on everything is racist? I'm a white woman married to a black man and have biracial children. So I'm definitely not racist but I definitely believe the whole George Floyd thing was a psyop to give blacks a reason to riot, cry racism and guilt trip whites.
Even if you believe it wasn't fake and staged George Floyd was a dangerous violent multiple time felon, was commiting a crime when arrested and was fighting the police officers. He was a lot bigger than them too.
@Proudblondewoman
"So anyone that doesn't agree with you or doesn't bow down to blacks on everything is racist?" Racist idiot, yes.
Yes, of course. Because a jury of 12 peers UNANIMOUSLY found Chauvin guilty of murder. And, worse, what he did as a cop was particularly heinous which is why Chauvin's sentence had an additional 10 years. As stated by the judge in the case:
”In the Court’s view, 270 months, which amounts to an additional ten years over the presumptive 150-month sentence, is the appropriate sentence.”
So, considering that a unanimous jury and the judge agree with me, it either makes those who disagree with us either idiots or racists or both. Furthermore, George Floyd's race and background are irrelevant to the issue which is why I suspect those who disagree are more racist than being idiots
And if you look at the evidence of the other deaths under cops, you'd see the same. Trouble is, those deaths were white and few care other than those managing police protocols... it doesn't trigger people, so doesn't make the news. White cops abusing black people triggers society. That's why the kneeling on the back was not accepted in some cities already, I believe it was still valid where Chauvin worked, I could be wrong about that... but. he was trained to do that technique.
Anyone thats been on a trial knows how the rules are written guides the decision and detemrination. The decision was made to protect the country and sacrafice those officers. It's always been about control... law and order.
This case is a reason we have the crime waves we have today which weren't counted under the prior govt as crime... police cannot engage criminals. That is changing as they attempt to enforce laaws and WE WILL HAVE more conflict and deaths of citizens and officers as suspects resist and officers error. We will go through something similar again, only a matter of time.
Thankfully some people can see this is a policing issue and a race issue... where a large part of AA society has been conditioned to respond poorly to officers, which makes it difficult and dangerous to police. There isn't a good answer in place to deal with the emotional issues at the center of the problem.
No.
Did anyone see how he started saying he couldn't breathe when they first put him in handcuffs?
Throughout the entire engagement, from the moment the cops first approached his car, they were totally calm, courteous and professional.
He panicked when they asked him to sit in the car, claiming he was claustrophobic. But he wasn't claustrophobic when sitting in his own car.
He struggled and resisted when they asked to force him into the back seat of the squad car. He struggled and resisted but they didn't tase or beat him.
They got him into the car but he continued to kick and struggle. One cop went to the passenger side to pull him the rest of the way in.
That's when Floyd frantically pushed past that cop and out the passenger door. He tumbled to the ground and the cops restrained him from trying to get up. After all, he was a big, violent man on drugs.
His claims to not be able to breathe were not credible because he had said that when they first handcuffed him. It has now become common for ass holes who resist police to claim that they can't breathe. But how can you scream and shout when you can't breathe.
Floyd wasn't dead when he was finally put inside the ambulance. He was asphyxiated, his wind pipe wasn't damaged. I believe he overdosed on fentanyl.
I think the cops behaved professionally. There was no intent to harm, let alone kill Floyd.
Chauvan was tried in a kangaroo court.
Another heartless white supremacist! You're only defending what those sorry racist piece of shit copd because George Floyd is d black and you hate black people. I bet you wouldn't be defending these cops if it was a white person that happened to. George Floyd was heartlessly murdered in cold blood and those heartless racist pigs got off way too fucking easy!
@LongLiveBillGates. I don't care about race or skin color. I watched the entire video.
You are the racist.
The whole George Floyd thing was fake and staged. It was a psyop to start race riots and to guilt trip white people.
Even if you believe it wasn't fake and staged George Floyd was a violent multiple time felon. Certain not the innocent saint that don't try to make him out to be.
Black people love to act like the victim, cry racism, and call white people racist when they don't get their way get called out on their bad behavior, or someone presents statistics showing that they're less intelligent and more violent than whites.
Many blacks will use any reason to riot, vandalize property, and be violent , especially towards white people. It's their nature and they hate whites and are jealous of whites. Black Lives Matter is a terroristic and very racist organization. People call White Lives Matter and even All Lives Matter racist and hateful. Yet I've not seen White Lives Matter or All Lives Matter be violent or be hateful towards anyone. Everything I've seen from WLM and ALM has been very peaceful and is just stand up against the blatant racism, double standards, and guilt tripping imposed against whites.
Black Lives Matter on the other hand has committed many heinous acts of violence, murdered many innocent white people, and cause much destruction and damage to many innocent people's property.
My husband, who is a pure black man from Africa, even knows and agrees with me and stands against BLM and all the racism and guilt tripping against whites. He knows George Floyd was a psyop too.
You are one heartless racist bitch! Your black husband should be ashamed of himself for marrying such a heartless racist white supremacist bitch like you. Being married to a black man and having black kids doesn't make you not racist or make the white supremacist bullshit you spew any less bad!
So murder implies the cops intently killed him. I don't think they did that. I think they were just overly rough and that along with the drugs in his system caused him to die. He may have died later by a a fentanyl overdose, but regardless holding someone in a postilion like that for 30 minutes is just insane. He should have just had his stolen goods confiscated and additional counterfeit money he had seized and been give a court date. There was no good reason or the police to act how they did

Absolutely not.
The coroner's report and video evidence shows Floyd was foaming at the mouth due to overdose on Fentanyl. He repeatedly disobeyed police orders and died by his OWN HAND due to drug overdose. The police were doing their jobs when they subdued him, and a knee in someone's back is not a lethal submission. As a martial arts expert, I can say that's about the weakest "submission" one can use to subdue someone.
If I had the power to do it, I would pardon and reinstate Derrick Chauvin, and I would actually put the prosecutor on trial for falsely prosecuting Chauvin.
Also, in legal terms, "Murder" requires some sort of intent to kill. There is no evidence of intent to kill George Floyd. From my perspective watching the video, before the crooked and cowardly media banned the video, Chauvin and other officers told Floyd to stop resisting, and he kept resisting repeatedly. Then they tackled him to the ground, he mostly fell on his own, then he kept resisting after being told repeatedly to stop. Intent to kill would mean you are claiming Chauvin just killed Floyd "because he wanted to do so," which is absolutely NOT shown by any degree of evidence. I don't even find fault with Chauvin at all having watched the video at least 3 times before it was banned by media.
In Louisiana, if you commit a crime and die while committing the crime, your life insurance is VOID. I know because I'm licensed to sell Life Insurance in Louisiana. So in Louisiana, Floyd would definitely be at fault for his own death.
Apparently you can't read though. He was kneed in his throat cutting off his air supply, not in the back. He may ALSO have been kneed in the back, but that had nothing to do with his not getting air.
You also believe what you want to believe. The coroner's report said fentanyl was present in the bloodstream but was NOT the cause of death. Learn to read.
I don't think Chauvin should have got the sentence he did, but clearly, he used excessive and no judgement. He's exactly the kind of cop you DO NOT want on job, as his history showed. The fact that you would want him back out there after an incident like that is rather obscene.
@SeekerOfTruth007 Oh boy... here we go! "As a martial arts expert... Blah blah... I graduated from Orange County Sheriffs... and I know better than what you just wrote.
@Bricealan Kneeing someone in the back is not an effective submission. I can get out of that in literally half a second flat. If you're a police officer, WATCH YOUR ASS, idiot. Someone will one day accuse you of murder just for cuffing them. it has happened before.
@loveslongnails He took a dangerous criminal off the street, and for that you "reward" him by putting him in prison for the better part of his life. That's just STUPID.
Having real Martial Arts skills, if I were an Officer, i would have CHOKED George Floyd out with a RNC, or else broke his damned arm, and I'm not a murderer for saying that.
Whatever you think you "would have done" is irrelevant in every way to this conversation.
If you want to get technical about it, he should have known how to subdue his subject without the possibility of causing his death. I already said I didn't agree with the verdict as it was. I think it should have been "negligent homicide", or even "involuntary manslaughter", which would probably have been more appropriate.
Although you'll disagree, Chauvin himself was a dangerous cop to have on the streets. He had a history of using excessive force during his time as a police officer, with 18 complaints on his record, two of which resulted in disciplinary action. He wasn't an angel either. If his sentenced was reduced and he could never again work in law enforcement OR security of any kind, that would be worth revisiting. He's exactly the kind of personality that law enforcement looks for, but should never be there.
Love this post. Everything you said is true. That of course is if you believe this wasn't a complete psyop that was totally staged and fake.
Regardless whether the whole thing was staged and fake or not , the narrative was spun to get the black community and BLM to riot and cry about whites being racist, make white people look bad and black people look like the victim, and guilt trip white people.
@Proudblondewoman LOL Nobody does psyops in Minnesota.
You would know he was not murdered if you would just look up the facts about the case. I think they should've left him in the car instead of getting him out and on the ground with all those onlookers around, especially just because Floyd literally begged them for that. No, Floyd was already in trouble with those drugs he swallowed. Moral of the story: 1) Don't hide drugs from the cops in your mouth, and 2) If the criminal is black, the liberals will crucify you for enforcing the law by the book, unless you're also black... if Chauvin was black, liberal media and all the liberals couldn't get all racist about it like they did... it's just based on the unspoken liberal rules.
George was detained and hand cuffed by the cops. So lets even entertain the idea George was dying without any intervention. a paramedic shouldn't put his knee on a dying person's neck.
If the cop was in any real danger they would shoot him. Lets also say the cops shot him but he didn't die and they hand cuffed him but still in a dying state. The cops would be responsible to getting him to a hospital. Maybe the guy dies on the way shit happens but you did your duty.
The cop who murdered George Floyd wasn't doing his duty. Hands in his pocket, knee on his neck, head in the clouds.
George Floyd was a criminal and had a long criminal history, but the circumstance of his death created another horror story like Rodney King.
When you hear "I can't breathe" you need to stop what you are doing to the person you are holding.
Many cops standing around with their thumbs up their ass, while the guy was suffocated, and the horror story follows with the burning and property destruction.
I am say that he WAS murdered, even though he WAS a criminal, and that cop KNEW the guy was suffocating with his knee on his neck.
Look at the fucking nightmare that the death of Floyd created!!!
He over dosed and a cop went to jail for woke nonsense. Lots of overdoses everyday and no one cares. 100,000 dead Americans a year die from drugs. Trump is trying to stop it but Democrats complain about that too.
No one cared about his death. They cared about nailing a coo to the wall. Here is just the shootings in Chicago where they try and keep the National Guard out. This isn’t about anything other than the Democrat party and hate of Trump. No one really cares about the dead black people in the cities.
https://heyjackass.com/
Floyd died because he made horrible decisions, resisted arrest, was fearful of police and high. Had he got in the car, he would probably be alive today. Chauvin's job is to apprehend and subdue criminals. He did his job, too well in fact.
And the response from Floyd's community was to burn their city down. Their hatred for authority and inability to control themselves is why no one will take them seriously.
And now my tax dollars are being used to fund a statue of a criminal in a community that idolizes criminal behavior.
George Floyd over dosed on Fentanyl. If you want to say China (Communism) and Venezuela (Socialism) murdered George Floyd in an opium war against America, I guess that is true on some level, but his supporters were Socialists and Communists. So technically he was just part of a Socialist/Communist purge like how Stalin or Hitler genocided their people. If you want to say some White American police officer murdered him that is a blatant lie that goes against the evidence.
You could also add the Socialist Mexico to that as well since they are involved in the trafficking of the drugs. If you want to get a little more granular than an ideology or a country, then you could look to the local political parties of Socialism/Communism based in the USA and their organizations namely Black Lives Matter and ANTIFA. They are the groups that murdered George Floyd with Fentanyl through their drug trafficking networks.
Of course he was. That pig that heartlessly murdered him got off way too easy. He should have gotten life in prison without the possibility of parole or the death penalty. Anyone that thinks George Floyd wasn't murdered is just as heartless as that pig and should be thrown in prison for life.
yeah you could argue he was murdered. maybe he was just "killed". but either way, he wasn't an angel and had he not continuosly made wrong decisions in his life that lead to that point, he would still be alive. what happened to him wasn't just or right but also i can't see why he's a loss. he's just one random crook that died in the hands of the police. had he been a law abiding citizen, then that would likely not have happened.
No hen died as a result of fentanyl poisoning and extreme stupidity.
Tough to say. I wasn't there. Of course an incident like that will be highly politicized, and the story will vary depending on who you hear it from. With the left defending Floyd, and the right defending the police officer of course. Only George and the officer knows what took place that day, anything else you hear is untrustworthy.
I think no, but his life was neglected and under the control of an officer. that's a problem.
First of all, no. Or at least there's serious doubt.
Second, why are we still talking this guy?
Yes. But he wasn't really giving the officers an easy time. He wasn't a good guy to begin with. He didn't deserve the statue at all. He was not a hero. He was a dangerous person with multiple past arrests
Yes. It’s obvious kneeling on another persons neck can cause death.
It seemed like murder to me and yes I have seen the video.
The autopsy said he wasn't and the knee maneuver Chauvin did was less force than he was authorized to use. If you paid attention to his trial, you would have known that.
As the Democrats love to say about the young National Guard woman who was murdered. AN ACCIDENT OCCURRED. That was exactly what happened to the fellon George Floyd. AN ACCIDENT OCCURRED
Are you missing something about the process of indictment, trial, conviction, sentencing?
This is race baiting from the resident GAG White Supremacist filth. They know they're lying. They don't care.
@OneViewpoint The sad fact is that they seem to outnumber the sane people on here.
Yep. Video doesn't lie. Handcuffed and has 3 dudes laying on him with one of them on his neck 9 seconds short of 10 minutes straight.
I would allow that George Floyd was helped along. But mostly he did it to himself.
@Sal_Monella he wasn't really a good guy to begin with. I don't wish him dead but he should have restrained better.
@Hellraiser1984 Should not wish anyone dead. But I do not have a problem with them feeling the consequences for their choices. Floyd made plenty of bad ones.
No, probably only manslaughter. Mens rea is funny that way
Anyone who still supports the cop that kneeled on George Floyd should be fired from their jobs.
suicide by fentanyl od.
Go to hell
@Mariogirl09 cope and seethe.
He WAS, but so what? It's not like his existence had a positive impact on the world
No. He died of natural causes. 🙄
Rage bait post.
D**N SKIPPY !!!
It was maybe manslaughter, murder no.
Yea, he was murdered by a white fascist. RIP!
so old
Nope.
Suicide!
No….
Who dat?
