What do you think about these rape cases and why tf us have so many millitary bases overseas? Would you be ok of there were millitary bases from foreign countries in your country? I am not a fan of t refugees and i am for controlled immigration but if you bomb countries then dont complain about refugees.

A lot of the US bases overseas are part of the Lend Lease deals from WW2.

There are also part of global force projection.

it is also cheaper to have bases overseas such as naval bases, then to constantly rotate ships home. This has been the case since man started sailing the oceans.

In some cases it’s part of the UN network of military bases they use for rapid or permanent deployments.

Then also some are part of NATO and all NATO countries utilise them.

on the refugee side of things, it’s not simply bombing, that’s exceptionally narrow a view.

For example about 25% of refugees come from Africa, the US is not bombing them.
the EU has 7% Venezuelan and 5% Colombian. There are a lot of refugees from Turkey and area around it, these are predominantly Kurds escaping persecution. The Turks bomb Kurds...

Bases such as Al Udeid in Qatar are used by a number of nationalities for a number of reasons, support in Afghanistan, support in Iraq, support for free movement in Indian Ocean and off coast of Africa (anti piracy).

As to the rapes yes these go on and need to be stamped out, there are reasons for them but no excuses.

The forces contain a selection of society, unfortunately what happens in society happens in the military.

the numbers can often be high due to the high reporting compared to civvie life.

Everyone is advised to use a buddy buddy system and watch out for each other.

Sexual assaults in the military will be high until there is more acceptance of women in the military, a huge number of people simply do not understand what a key role they play and the types of jobs they undertake.

We have so many U. S. military bases in other countries for a number of reasons. First and most assuredly foremost is, we were asked to put one or more there.

Second, a country that we had to have some military action with, as a temporary police force, to protect innocent civilians, and prevent further aggression against such.

Finally, as a deterrent against aggression by outside forces.

As for rape on these bases, rape should never be tolerated anywhere, regardless of the venue.

here is why we have the bases. because as ww2 ended we were asked by the world to become the global police force. this was agreed upon at the bretton woods convention.

It would seem strange to have foreign military bases in the US. I wondered about that as we have bases in Germany, Japan, Korea and a number of other places. In particular, about how other people feel about having US bases there.

I know some countries like it as it affords protection, it that attacking their country in a way would be like attacking the US. Also a lot of those local to the base like the money it brings in - I heard when there was an anti-US presence protest planned at one base in Korea the local shopkeepers drove them off.

Your two questions are unrelated. The rape rate in the military is virtually the same as it is in the civilian population and therefore unrelated to military service.

The United States has military bases where we have been forced to go to win a war or stop one or where we have been invited to come in to help people. Since no other country has been needed to come here to help us (except France during our revolution) we don't have other countries keeping their bases here.

The rape thing is a obvious issue and the military already does SHARP classes and has a lot of other resources for those that have been raped. There isn't much more that can really be done. And bases are everywhere so they can do training with allies or have a place ready for when they have to deploy. It really depends on what bases to each reason.

The American military was needed to combat Soviet and later Chinese influence. As for refugees, look for the most part they are not fleeing from our forces. For instance 40% of Iraq's refugees are Christians which proves the religious nature of the conflicts there.
