No but your asking about a generalization and the generalization will always be what most people should do for a working society. Not that it will collapse if a few doesn't follow it.
@bones0271 instead of just having kids we should try to make kids life’s easier? That’s the problem with society now a days, kids aren’t toys or commodities. They’re human beings and if you don’t have the resources or time to take care of a human being in the least traumatizing way possible than you shouldn’t be allowed to have a child.
Cause how it is right now, we don’t care about kids at all and people just have kids to have kids. Not because they actually want to care for their kids.
No government can forbid people to reproduce, they can only strongly discourage it from unsuitable individuals. Kids lives are easy, it's the parents life that are hard, so it there improvements should be done. Working towards the old core family would actually be a good idea. Where you always have someone in the family around to watch the kids. Instead of dividing the family and having single parents with no necessary family support.
To be honest I feel like governments should make it stricter for people to reproduce. No children should have to starve to death or live in bad conditions.
Parents should only be allowed to have kids if they actually understand how to take care of a human being in order to not risk said child growing up and having any illness or etc because of their living. Condition
What excuse? I don’t think age is a valid factor of knowledge and that’s another issue I have with society. Adults think they can just invalid people younger than them based on age when the only think adults have that children don’t is certain developments in the brain and maturity to a certain extent
No I am strongly against having government enforced birth control. That shit only makes sense in a very limited resource community in space. It could potentially be a punishment, but even there its a slippery slope. Talk about corruption causing certain minority population from having any rights. It's like nazi gas camps but it would be sterilization instead. Learn from history all power corrupts and you want the government to have as little control as possible over your opportunites in life otherwise you will have restored the permanent class system. You should be in control no them.
Than you’d care about their living conditions and weather their parents are even fit to be parents. I’m not saying that people with a limited amount of money are bad parents but I’m saying that they most likely won’t be in the best situation living wise and money wise to provide for a child or even take care of one.
Children need food, shelter, etc etc so why not care about that and make sure that they have those things as well as a good environment to grow up in.
That way people that know how to take care of a child + have the resources and money to provide for one can raise a child with a lower likelihood of abuse/trauma/mental health issues
I said if you aren’t in the best place financially to afford for the basic needs of a child like food, water, etc than having a kid isn’t the best choice because the kid wouldn’t have the best conditions and you want the best for your child
That kind of stuff doesn’t require wealth, although you need some money since having a kid is costly. That’s why stuff like health care should be free, it’d make health care accessible to all children which would be the best for society
I rather see a government that make sure every citizen has food and water and a roof over their heads then one that enforce birth control. You are delusional if you think that the government magically can stop children from suffering. At least if there is some degree of socialism in the country, everyone would be able live under minimum standards. And have the option to work for a better position in life.
If you truly had a sliver of knowledge on capitalism than you’d understand how disingenuous the “work for a better position in life” statement is. I never said completely stop suffering, I said that we can do our best to prevent it from happening? And food and water is literally what I’m advocating for everyone.
to get a “better life” the ideal is to get good grades, get into a good school, etc right? That ideal doesn’t account for privilege giving more opportunities and etc. I’m not going to go into detail cause this is all way off topic. My question was why this was a standard.. not about children
I do have good knowledge of what capitalism is and I am glad it's not a corner stone in the Swedish society. The problem I face is that Americans don't understand basic socialism and think communism. Which is the extreme variant. You need a society that care about its citizens and work towards improving their lives without enslaving them in the process. They should still be able to climb capitalism ladder if they feel like it and if they fall they have ground level to still stand on. Which is why you should have a degree of socialism and a degree of capitalism in your country. Not the full scope of either.
On one hand this is still a cultural remnant on a big scale, on the other hand it seems like a localized issue for people who grew up in these kind of families who subscribe to this mindset. I grew up in a supportive environment which encouraged me to follow my dreams. Without a doubt of course this has been the mentality for most cultures throughout the world for centuries, but today it is mostly down to what your family believes in (assuming you're from a western country that is).
People who take control of their lives need not to worry about the social norm and public opinion, it your life do whatever you want with and smack anyone who puts their will on you.
About the question why girls or women are expected to that I would say it's a third world thing, well are still in the middle. And sometimes when I think about it in some cases I think it's more convenient for women in instances. As the societies will prosper these things will start to fade away.
I don't expect my wife to raise a family as of right now I don't even know if i want kids. 2nd if we do have kids I do however expect her to raise them when I am not able to raise them like I am at work or something same for me when she's not at home. I expect her to look respectable and decent. kind to others but doesn't take any shit from people. I expect her to be feminine. When I am not home and I am not able to help around the house than she should do it and vice versa.
Nobody with the right mind expects from women JUST that
But it is absolutely necessary for them to have babies and raise them in a stable community, and a standard family structure is still the best way of achieving that. Survival of human race, you know...
Well, Women are the only ones who can have kids, but with that said, If a woman doesn't want kids, I don't think she should have them. I see so many things that women can do with or without kids. I don't much care for societal peer pressures. The woman should be able to decide what she want in her life or what she wants to do with it.
And women aren't expected to raise children, both parents are. Both parents are supposed to bring a different side of raising a child. Women are nurturing, while men are disciplining. Both are required for a child, as he must be shown love and care, but also limits and punishment when necessary. If a kid can't behave, responsibility of it is put on both parents, and often more on men, as it's seen as a sign that they couldn't put limits to the kid.
You aren't expected to do any one thing. However, only women can birth children. Within that fact from the generations before us and all the living creatures on the planet, it's done for the sake of survival and evolution. All across nature it is usually the female that raises the offspring.
Most tend to just follow the instinctual drive and flow as it has preceded prior to themselves.
Because people in the past used to do it, women had kids and raised them, men worked hard to support, sustain their family, that's how this society you live in was built. Your mother was part of this society/time. Come on it's not so hard.

Because people in the past did it doesn’t mean it was beneficial or good. On top of that, I’m not sure where you’re from cause cultural differences can play a strong part
It's sexist and a coercion strategy but only if you are weak enough to allow it. Simply observe those, who followed through with these coercion strategies and you see them being beaten up, controlled, being told what they can and can't do and whatnot. It's asking for a life full of misery. Don't listen to them. They want the same company as themselves. Misery loves company. They will hate you because they lose that control over you. You are smarter than that.
That all sounds like Christian fundamentalism. You don't have to follow that path. Do what you want.

Thankyou. My mom is super religious, I’m not religious because the thought of anticipating for the world to end isn’t my cup of tea so that’s where most of our beliefs conflict
They are? In my world they are expected to do anything but, and often regret it later when their biological time runs out and they no longer can.

Your mother may expect you to have babies and raise a family, but society sure as hell doesn't. You're living in a bubble if you actually think society encourages women to have a family instead of going to school and having a career instead. Society is practically begging them to do just the opposite of what you're saying here. Seriously, when I hear a woman say something like this I have to wonder what rock they are living under.

Because we live in a society where women are still considered "inferior". I'm not saying taking care of a family is an act of inferiority, but the act of putting women in a box is.
@MudRucker Don't fight fire with fire kiddo, there was nothing negative about my initial comment. It's an opinion, go off though because if you had a bad day I'm here for you.
@MudRucker Really tho, if you're having a bad day I feel ya kid. Try meditating, sometimes that helps with negative thoughts. Maybe some sage, or even a bubble bath.
If you think you can find something better to do or something that will make you happier then you should do that. In today’s world I don’t think women are expected to just have babies and raise a family.
It should be your choice at the end of the day. No one can tell you - you should, or shouldn't have kids. That is up to you and you alone. So it doesn't matter what other women do. 💜

Because you are the only gender that can have babies and it's essential for the continuation of society and the human race.
Their are 7.5 billion humans on this earth. If I choose to not have kids that won’t make humans go extinct? Lol
No but your asking about a generalization and the generalization will always be what most people should do for a working society. Not that it will collapse if a few doesn't follow it.
Yes but every person has the same opinion and that is why the population of a lot of countries are getting smaller

Your too young too to know anything about that. Those are genererall things that apply to some people not everyone but everyone uses those excuses
. Maybe but that would take too much time and money
What excuse? I don’t think age is a valid factor of knowledge and that’s another issue I have with society. Adults think they can just invalid people younger than them based on age when the only think adults have that children don’t is certain developments in the brain and maturity to a certain extent
Every use the same excuse that that you used for knot hVing kids like not having enough money. It is important to have kids
Plus I don't think that you are really under 18 THIS is likely a troll account

Fair enough Adam your right about this
Than you guys don’t really care about children because of you did than you would care about their physical and emotional well being?
Kids aren’t toys
@bones0271 I’m 15, the only reason why I’m anonymous is because I’m talking about personal stuff on this thread
I do care about kids well being

Having lots of money does not make you a good parent
That’s not what I’m saying?

Don’t listen to them, they’re fucking high. Like when a kid broke Mr. Goodman’s Lamborghini windshield with a baseball.
”you gotta be fucking kidding me. *sticks head out the window* WHAT THE FUCK?”
”Cloudy with a chance of fucking baseball”
Social constructs garbage. Never let someone put you in a box or draw expections for you lest you be miserable and die miserable.
You must find your own path and what God has for you wheather its to be married and have family or something else.
They aren't. In fact quite the opposite.
In this day and age you need both working to make the household a happy one.
What you're talking about are old boomer values where the world was all about the "nuclear family" model.
That might be happening for you but that isn’t what’s happening for me and how I see other girls going threw i

Great. You really can do anything you like. Go to college, find a career that suits. Don't marry before 25. Find a man who shares your goals.

@opinionowner fr, I think he needs some tea
If you live in the United States or any western first world country, you must live in a different reality.
If you live somewhere else, then that's why.
If you think you can find something better to do or something that will make you happier then you should do that. In today’s world I don’t think women are expected to just have babies and raise a family.
