Anyway, I think we need a constitutional amendment requiring everyone to get vaccinated for just about every disease known to man. We know how to drive most of these diseases EXTINCT, we've done it before with Smallpox, which exists only in two vials now: one in Russia and one in the U. S. The mandatory Smallpox Vaccine saved TENS OF MILLIONS of lives since it was given, and a mandatory Covid vaccine might save hundreds of thousands or even millions of lives before all is said and done too.
We also need a constitutional amendment banning stupidity, such as BLM vs "All lives matter". Some woman got fired from the school board because her husband painted "All lives matter" on his own property on his fence row.
Well, I happen to be a True Prophet, and God says, "All lives matter" and "he who sheds blood by man's hands shall his blood be shed."
And by the way, for you fake religious people who don't take vaccines, if you don't get vaccinated, and you get sick and then spread it to someone else who gets sick and suffers either permanent impairment or death as a result of their illness, YES, you ARE biblically liable (leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy, Exodus,) for their death or impairment and owe them 4 times the value of all the loss they suffered.
Your stance is based on the fact that you are for the vaccine and not about the fact that this business tactic is suspect. It's rather confusing that natural immunity isn't part of the equation. And I'm not convinced it's about the money involved, I just think that they think the more than can get innoculated the greater chance there will be the virus will cease to spread. And I also think they don't know what else to do but keep pushing everyone in that direction, even though it is highly likely that the combination of those vax'd and those that had it, we're al ready at 'herd immunity'. My best guess is that in another 90 days cases will drop off to nothing and it will become moot. I hope so at least.
Three months ago I predicted by the middle of June it would be all but ended. And for the most part that's the case - in our parts everyone has gone back to their pre-pandamic lives, very few wear masks, and they are gathering with friends and relatives and doing fun things again. The government needs to just back off and step out of the way and let people live their lives.

Love it. There's numerous restaurants in my city who give free meals or sides or drinks if you show them your same day vaxx docs.
They're all local, too.
Money isn't always the first target. But giving out free food is a great way to also share your product with people who might not otherwise have it. It also provides free publicity. Both those end up creating future profit and goodwill among the public.
And also, it's in their best interest. The sooner herd immunity is reached, the more of their clients are protected, the safer their staff, and the more business goes back to normal.
There is strategy to this, but sometimes companies legit just want to so something good. Not every company makes everything about profit every time. There's plenty of business owners or franchise owners with heart and empathy.

I think this will be a divisive issue which is absurd in my opinion.
Medical science is conclusive that SARS-CoV-2 the virus which causes COVID-19 is a public health threat. It’s highly contagious, it can spread before symptoms present, and while it’s lethality isn’t definitively known it was one of the top 3 killers in the US in 2020. So it’s no joke, yes outcomes depend on various factors including age and co-morbidities. Also most will recover, but as with any novel virus. We have no idea about long term effects, we’re just beginning to see the initial long term complications in some people.
Also regardless of if you get a severe case or not the person you transmit it too can. So given the severity not just on public health but on our economy from this virus I don’t see why any rational person could have an objection to any company trying to incentivize people to get vaccinated.
It’s a crying shame we’re not at 100% of the eligible population vaccinated already. More needless preventable deaths because of human stupidity.
As someone who works in the restaurant industry, i think this is a great idea & should be expanded to the homeless & people in need. It is good, cheap incentive to get people vaccinated.
I'm also going to tell you a very unpopular opinion: fuck mother's day, father's day, valentines day & other holiday where people traditionally go out who normally dont. No, you shouldn't get free shit on those days. I was working one year WITH my mom & we were both bitched at by different tables claiming that we were ruining their moms special day & he wanted his $250 bill reduced because i couldn't get to them fast enough when i had a 15 table section with anything ranging from a 2 top to a 20 top & i never had a breather. i snapped & told the fucker that my mom was working right next to me & that if he wanted to know a bad mother's day to watch her work & not have a moment's peace or the day off because she is a mother herself. I work at a restaurant too and I don’t think controversial topics should be brought into a business. Honestly if the restaurant I work at promotes anything that had to do with the vaccine, I would quit. Why? Because I am now the face of that promotion and customers will question and turn it into a controversial topic. Why? Because it’s a controversial topic. I personally do not celebrate holidays at all, BUT most people do and I think personally giving something out free on Mother’s Day is more caring than pushing a controversial topic onto people. The restaurant I work at gave away free decorative cookies for Mother’s Day that I gave to every table and everyone had a smile when I presented them with the cookies
And the restaurant you work at seems flawed, a 15 table section with 20 tops in that mix? That’s not ideal for a waitress or give good service. I’ve been there before and learned the managers at that restaurant job were absolute garbage

I’ve volunteered for things like Winter Comfort, looking after homeless over winter months, soup kitchens etc.
Plenty of companies donate food to homeless and/or other causes and they also have a financial incentive to have everyone vaccinated for their businesses own survival. Companies that deal in catering, restaurants and such things has suffered among the worst during covid19 so its definitely in their best interest that everyone, and I do mean everyone gets vaccinated.
This is not a question of their political views, its a question of capitalism and what is objectively the best for their financial future.

Interesting because I work in a restaurant and ever since more things have opened up, it went from seeing 150 people in one shift there to 300 people. Cases are starting to rise again supposedly. Not everyone is vaccinated. Businesses are doing the same and places like Panera have been making money since the shut down. Nothing has changed for them. They had the ability to do take out and such. They lost no business. And many companies throw away wasted food because it is a liability to give away food that has been sitting around all day.

Being open is not the same as normal business. You just have to look at the explosion of unemployment that indicates the scaling down of business under the pandemic as well as the countless examples of bankruptcies, mergers and other examples of businesses failing and being incorporated into larger businesses for pennies on the dollar. They even scrapped many of the cruise ships because the metal was more worth than the ships themselves.

"So many ways", that is really besides the point. Just because they have options does not mean that it will not impact their business and considering its a large company their margins for success is much narrower so a smaller deficit takes away a much larger percentage of their profits.

I worked as a pastry chef for 2 years. I watched the owner throw away thousands of dollars in day old breads, muffins, sandwiches.. etc.
Finally I had enough and at the end of my shifts instead of tossing them in the trash I took them too the Salvation Army. It was so greatly appreciated and it was such a good feeling watching a small child eating one of my cookies with a huge smile on face. I got away with this for over a year. Until one of the cashiers saw me one day and told the owner.
I was fired the next day for stealing...
So I find it appalling that a restaurant will gladly give away free bagels to lure people into doing something they may not really want to do. But do not share all their Edible waste to those who truly need it.

I think it's a nice little incentive. Nothing crazy, but just a bonus for doing your part and being socially responsible. Plus, the companies have a vested interest in people being vaccinated, too. The end of the pandemic means the end of the labor shortage and the beginning of economic recovery, which is good for the business. It's a win-win for everyone.

I feel that companies can do whatever they choose. They have the right to give out free food as a promotion or just simply because they have certain beliefs. If they face backlash for certain things, which companies face for basically everything nowadays, then they need to mitigate those issues.

A company has the right to conduct their business the way they see fit. Perhaps they are doing this to encourage people to get vaccinated. However, some don't trust it, others had the virus and survived-(like me) so they don't need it. I would rather see the free bagles go to frontline health care workers or maybe the less fortunate.

I wouldn't say it's an attempt to divide. More just goes to show how greedy companies are. They can afford to give things away for free. Because the products don't really cost them that much to make. It's the labor that does (hence why they would want to pay their workers as little as possible).

Yeah of course there are risks. The risks are the same with any vaccine. But the benefits do outweigh it. Chance of dying from the vaccine are very slim after 35 million vaccine doses there was just over 1 thousand deaths. Which aren't proven to be directly related to the vaccine either (remember we are prioritizing the elderly and vulnerable so deaths in that group are common) whereas you as a 18-24 year old have a higher chance of catching the virus and suffering long term damage from it, which yeah you probably won't die from it immediately but it can shorten your life span since it can cause lung and heart issues. I don't know about you but I like being able to breathe normally and prefer my heart to stay healthy as long as possible.

I was even in nyc the January before lockdown in a crowd of people for a basketball game and did not catch it then. I started a new job when the pandemic was at an all time high last summer. @Jessica405 You were probably just sick normally and the test made it worse.. The PCR test are unreliable as many times they put it on too many cycles.. Plus they have some weird "fabric" on the swabs.. So I wouldn't be surprised if you only have a normal "coronavirus" but the test made whatever sickness you had worse..
@JDavid25 Nothing wrong with the test! I amintelligent enough to know how these things work. The rest of my family were not affected. My brother was negative. My mum and her partner had no symptoms. My partner was quite bad for a couple of weeks, but got over it ok. Just me that went tits up.
PCR tests are a lot more reliable than lateral flow tests, too.
@Jessica405 PCR test are not reliable because the test weren't made the detect viruses, and the results are always random because they put pieces of small corona viruses til they may or may not get a positive.. Different people have different reactions.. Doesn't mean the test didn't make you even more sick..

@ObscuredBeyond I saw an article on tv last night about long covid. If anyone would care to risk it, go ahead. Permenant organ damage a possibility. I am lucky. I got through the worst after 5 or 6 MONTHS. I was fit and used to run every day. I still struggle to jog the whole 5 miles.
If anyone thinks it is just flu, remember it isn't only covid that can get you. Like me, you can get over it in a couple of weeks. Then the bad bit hits you. Trouble is, there is no knowing how long it is going to last. There were cases in that article lasting over a year, and still not back to how they were.
