I think most men have no idea what the world is like for women. I know I didn't, and probably still don't.
One of the biggest examples is from my dating life. I have often been flirting with a girl, we have some chemistry, so I invite her to do something I think is fun. Usually that's something slightly adventurous, some examples being :
Going to one of the hidden swimming holes I know on various rivers.
Going for a paddle or kayak out into the ocean, which I especially like to do at night (full moon is incredible).
Going for a hike into the woods, up a mountain, out in nature.
I have also often had women flake out or decline to go on these dates with me. I started to think women in general just don't have adventurous spirits, are insecure, feeble, or some other issue relating to their confidence. I mean, it didn't add up if we were both feeling a good connection why she wouldn't want to do something fun with me and get closer?
My perspective was opened up about 5 years ago when I realized these women were probably afraid of getting raped. Not that I give off rape-y vibes (at least I don't think so, lol), it's just that getting raped is something women have to worry about CONSTANTLY. When going out to a bar for a couple drinks, when walking alone at night, in so many situations where I would never even imagine that happening to me.
What the world is like for me is it's my oyster. I'm more or less untouchable, I walk where I want, when I want. When I walk down a dark alley at night and I see a shadowy figure coming my way, my thought is, "Whoever that is, they're probably a little scared to see me coming their way.". I drink at bars without a second thought of anyone putting something in my drink and the only reason I worry about drinking too much is it might give me a headache tomorrow or if I have to watch my drinks and timing to sober up by the time it is time to drive home. I live without fear. I believe most men live the way I do, but that most women don't have that privilege; they have to watch their backs and be wary of the ever present reality that it's a man's world and they could easily become a victim if caught off their guard.
Not that I couldn't be robbed or beat up or whatever, it's just never happened and not likely to happen. Whereas 20% or so of women will get raped or molested at some point in their life, so it's a pretty good chance, roughly the same as the Patriots or the Steelers winning any given Super Bowl.
Being afraid of strangers isn't what makes a society patriarchal. I'm sorry some women turned you down for dates or going skinny dipping in the middle of nowhere but it's not really relevant. A patriarchal society by definition is one where men have the primary social privilege and control of property. That's not western society today. If a woman does the exact same crime as a man she will get no sentence or a fraction of his sentence. If a woman wants to buy property, she can as long as she meets the financial requirements.
@hahahmm well we do have a lot of patriarchal elements. Maybe we are shifting, but it's far from equal. The man's name is taken by the wife and children, men made the majority of laws that we live under to this day, both in the US and abroad. It's not 100% though as you say, women can now purchase and own property, vote, etc. At least in many parts of the world.
No, that is absurd. Women live longer, are healthier, men pay 200x more in taxes then women due to the fact that they work more, pay more, then die sooner while women are the biggest consumers of social security, medicare medicaid welfare etc. Women have more legal rights then men, boys are discriminated against in schools (they score higher on tests but routinely get lower grades as well as school curriculum being female centric in nature and more inline with how women learn and think (a book list for students had almost 90% of the options being considered "female centric" for example), legally women are 160% less likely to be convicted of a crime and they get only a third of the sentencing a man does for the same crime on the rare occasion she is convicted.
If you look economically women actually out earn men in most cases. For example single women out earn single men substantially, only married men out earn single women and that is because they are still expected to be providers. Women get higher starting pay in many fields like STEM fields (fewer women enter them but thanks to quotas companies fight over the few women in the field even knowing that she is less likely to get further education compared to her male counter parts and is less likely to work over time or even work full time compared to the men). In female dominated fields like social work, women out earn men and as far as we can tell their is no reason for this as men statistically work more hours, take fewer days off, are more willing to travel for higher paid work etc. If you look at models, the highest paid model made almost 500x more then the highest paid male model.
If we look at sexual harassment sexual assault and rape, men are severly punished for these things. In fact even when a man is wrongly accused he is still seen with contempt for the rest of his life. Meanwhile when women do these things (which acccording to the CDC is at comparable rates to men) they are almost never punished except if its with a minor (and even then they will get next to no punishment for it compared to a male who did the same thing), and in fact we have had Amy Schumer admit that she raped a guy while he was blacked out drunk, mocked him for being bad even though he was blacked out drunk and being raped, and she was applauded for it. We had Multiple women admit to such things and they suffered no consequences for it. Even when it comes to false accusations of rape that put men in prison for years (and men who go to prison with charges of rape are tortured in prison), rarely see any significant penalty for the action. Its so bad in fact a 8 year old girl accused her father of sexual assault and no one listened to the father presuming that he was a piece of shit because an eight year old girl said so. He was thrown in prison, was divorced, had every one ostricise him for being an evil rapist. . . and then when she turned seventeen she finally broke down and admitted she had lied that she had said it because she was angry he wouldn't let her have ice cream. His word was meaningless, the lack of evidence was meaningless, an eight year old girl held greater power then a full grown man.
If we look at domestic violence, studies show men are actually the primary victims of it, despite this we have only one domestic violence shelter in north america (that is Canada and the United states, an entire continent) but over two thousand for women (all of which are publically funded with predominantly male tax payer money).
So no, we don't live in a patriarchal society by any means.
Women are the more sexist gender by far.
Let's just say if governments looked like this:
👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼
Men would be mad af.
But instead they look like this :
👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👨β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼👩β💼
So of course they don't care.
@kevyhanma if the people running the country were mostly women you wouldn't feel underrepresented?
@kevyhanma but men don't take the blame currently... so if women were in power why would they?
The skin colour or genitals of your politicians is irrelevant. The only thing that is relevant is what they vote for, and that fact is all of these horrible penis wielding politicians of yours have been bending over backwards for women for decades.
Women have more legal rights and less legal obligations that men. What the hell type of patriarchy is that?
Most women dont even want to run a household or be leader to their own children or form an equal bond with a man to raise children! Why in the hell should they have any say over strangers when they fundamentally lack the desire to be a leader. All the people in the goverments of the world are their because money and privilege not to serve with wisdom or lead with courage, maybe, but very rare. Inbthis case in this case I agree gender is not important its the heart of the person.
in my opinion, yes
Patriarchal entitlement in the US is a very old and entrenched problem.
Whoβs head of household and whose name does the family take? The father
Whatβs the major religion, still invoked by the government? One with a father god
What are the men who wrote the Declaration of Independence called? The founding fathers
(Women arenβt even included in βall men are created equalβ in the same document.)
Men control big business, men exploit women for their gain in every avenue of life.

Modern civilizations have been patriarchal from day one. It was that way for thousands of years.
Women were treated like children, chattel, doodads, pleasure units and/or servants. They had very few, if any legal protections. They were expected to bear and nurture "men's" offspring while men were free to do as they wished. That isn't to say that ALL women were treated like slaves or that none ever became influential or rose to high rank. Women aren't stupid and some found ways to beat the system. Plus, not all men were ass holes.
But in years past, a single woman, even a woman with children whose husband died or deserted them, had virtually no other recourse than to become a prostitute in order to feed herself and her children. There were just no other opportunities or safety nets, especially for commoners.
In the U. S. women gained the simple right to vote a mere 100 years ago. But there were still many, many restrictions on gender equality, including the right to marry whom they wished, bodily autonomy, property rights, the right to own patents, to serve on a jury, access to higher education, equal rights to employment (for instance, to be a lawyer), equal pay, access to credit, access to contraception, and other things. It was similar to racial segregation.
Access to contraception was huge. The pill was approved for contraceptive use in 1960 and by 1963, over two million women were using it. It was a tremendous step in women's liberation. I thanked the gods for it in 1970 when I became sexually active. And I admired those girls/women who celebrated their emancipation.
Title IX of the Education Amendments Act of 1972 is a federal law that states: "No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance."
Believe it or not, it was only 40 years ago (1981) when the full end of the legal subordination of a wife to her husband was deemed to be unconstitutional by a United States Supreme Court ruling.
Although things are 1000 times better for women today, there are still remnants of discrimination. Patriarchal attitudes don't disappear overnight. It's similar to the psychic damage caused by slavery and segregation. Regardless of equal rights laws, some African Americans still suffer from the trauma, historic economic disparity, and remaining bigoted attitudes that some people retain. And many whites still cling to racist attitudes that were ingrained for centuries. That shit doesn't just disappear after a couple of generations.
In regards to women, some legal and societal prejudice still exists. Some men still see women as lesser than. Some men resent women's liberation and independence. And there are men who feel that women's rights diminished their own, as if freedom is a pie with a limited number of slices.
I will acknowledge that some feminists have gone completely off the rails. They are the resentful ones, the misandrists. They don't represent the views of many women, but they sure freak some men out.
I will also acknowledge that, in 'some' cases, there has been inequity toward men, particularly in cases of divorce, division of property, alimony, palimony, and child custody. That's something that many men are resentful about. But that's an issue for a different conversation.
I'll close by saying that I strongly support liberty and equal rights.
In the literal sense? No- you can distribute your stuff to your heirs however you like; it needn't all go to your eldest son. In the sense it's usually used- that is, that we live in a society run by and for men, geared to give them the maximum advantage? That idea is even MORE absurd. Women live longer, healthier lives. In every first-world country, and many of the third, they have MORE legal rights than men do. Worldwide, they're less likely to be arrested, less likely to be charged, less likely to be prosecuted, less likely to be convicted, and if they are, have a MASSIVE reduction in sentencing, with each step getting MORE pronounced the richer the country in question is. Here in the US, for example, the sentencing disparity between men and women (all other factors being equal) is six times bigger than that between black and white people. SIX. And yet, for all the complaints that our prisons are filled with black people, where are the complaints that our prisons are filled with men? When there's an accident and many people are trapped or killed, the media bellows about if, referring to the victims as "women and children", if they are, but if not? It's "miners" or "sailors" or whatever the occupation of the men happens to be. Women are given value simply for being women; men have to earn it. I'm sure you've seen those ads decrying homelessness, which specifically say "1 in 6 homeless people are women!". The men? Oh, they don't matter. It's okay if THEY die in misery; they're just men.
Am I then saying that our society was organized to privilege women? No. Our society grew naturally out of the conditions we evolved in. Women aren't oppressed, they're PROTECTED- but that which protects also restricts. You look at Saudi Arabia, and think "Women there aren't allowed to drive? That sounds like oppression to me!", and that's understandable- but think it through: if you're riding in a cab being driven somewhere, are you being oppressed by the cab driver? Understanding the realities of human existence means understanding the era of peace of prosperity and anesthetic we now live in is VERY MUCH the exception, not the rule. Men run the risks, and women, by and large, are the beneficiaries.
One could certainly argue in good faith that protections are too restrictive; that one should have the freedom to choose their level of risk, and I would agree. But it makes for quite the culture shock when you step out of your bubble to join the group you thought was the "privileged" ones and you learn just how crushing their existences really are. To be treated like a man, in this context, means to be given respect for your achievements and accomplishments that women don't get- but to lose the empathy and support that they do. This is why feminists can see a massive spike in, say, the rate of female homicide victims, bringing it up to as much as 15% of total victim count (which is about where it stands today, worldwide) and decry it as horrible violence against women. The irony is that it's best described by one of their own slogans: when you're used to privilege, equality feels like oppression. Is this a result of deep-seated, overpowering sexism? Well, yes, but it's not deliberately malicious; they're just following the same instinctual "men are disposable, women must be protected" mindset that created the society they so decry.
It's true that our society was not designed for current realities, and if you want to argue that it should be more mobile and less restrictive, I'm right there with you. I'm all for egalitarianism, and the world is safer than it's ever been. But running risks means that sometimes you lose.
If you are talking about the west I would say no. Here's why.
Even though most CEOs are men the majority of private share holders are women in other words they report to a group of women. Even though the majority of politicians are men, women are by far the largest voting block again they answer to a group of women.
Further the glass ceiling is directly tied to and a result if the glass slipper ( glass slipper, the safety nets and programs that help prevent women from being homeless and hungry) essentially destroying the risk/gain formula.
By every matrix that we have women have a tendency to be happier and healthier then their male counterparts indicating that systematically we live in a gynocentric society. Though women may make less than men (by personal choice, according to multiple studies) they spend more then men. Women get lighter sentences for crime. Divorce court is notoriously bias towards women. Men have had many fundamental rights erroded by feminist action ( assumption of innocence, right to face their accuser, etc). And again, due to feminist action, many domestic abuse and rape victims have been prosicuted for their victimhood.
I would say no we do not.
I wouldn´t say it depends in what country you live because this is a global website. There are people here from different countries with different cultures and different history.
One can´t generalize that also the Western culture needs to be splitted up in this question, because the USA has a different culture with different problems than countries from Europe.
I come from Germany and as a guy I would say that I live in culture and society with patriachal tendencies but it´s not totally patriarchal.
Yes there are still parts where we guys get an advantage but there are also parts where girls have an advantage boys.
For example it´s scientifical proven that German school system is more profitable for girls and is more orientated to use ways of learning that girls are genuiely better in. That results in more girls getting higher grades and better exams than boys. There are more male school drop outs than girls.
Some years ago there was a law passed that set up a certain rate of candidate that are hired for jobs have to be female.
Yes there is still a wage gap between male and female but this gap doesn´t make difference in question of qualification or success in wage negotiations and other things.
There are still points where guys have advantages though for example is a research of a disease that infects mainly males more likely to be funded than a research of disease that just infects females.
Also in terms of character traits there are things have to change. Many character traits like dominance is something that is said to be male while submissiveness is only which isn´t true. I think porn plays a role in that.
Other things are that housework seems to be a female´s job for some guys which it isn´t. Housework and being able to clean is a life skill everybody should and must have.
Not exactly. We live in a corpocratic society. Truly patriarchal societies are only really seen in "traditional" tribal groups, whom by corpocratic definitions could be classified as "off the grid".
And even then, how those patriarchal tribes are socially structured is closer to a pure meritocracy, with women playing highly valued roles, alongside a highly specialised male workforce, and a select few "elders" who oversee, advise, and reward/punish/incentivise accordingly.
Matriarchal tribes also exist, with female elders sitting atop the hierarchy, but even then the "average" female and "average" male perform similar duties regardless of whether the overarching tribe structure is patriarchal or matriarchal.
There hasn't been a truly patriarchal or matriarchal system of governance at a society-wide scale since the industrial revolution, and possibly long before then. There was of course a period in middle ages where a select group of men wielded an unusual amount of power by self proclaimed "birthright". But modern society is very much dictated by the whims of "corporate interests"-- which although dominated at the upper tiers by male executives and policy-makers, is nonetheless essentially "genderless", in that the abstract realm of "corporate interest" cares only for the increase of the corporation's power and influence. Whether a man or woman runs the C-suite division is irrelevant; the corporate agenda would still be to increase its own power either way.
Patriarchy.
That is some new word the "woke" people who are offended by everything made up.
The crowd that hates "whiteness"... hates "white men", hates the USA... thinks all of society in the west over the last few hundred years should just be thrown out... everything is bad, everything is an offense... etc.
I don't even acknowledge all the BS that has been made up over the last 10 years or so.
Women in western countries have it better than any women in human history... people from all over the world would love to come here... but tons growing up in this country in the last 20 years or more somehow think it is the most evil place on earth and want all of society torn down... they are reversed racists now... they think being white is evil and they live in a constant state of outrage over something.
I believe, especially these days, we live in a matriarchal society. I mean think about it. If a man claims something generally a womanβs problem like sexual assault heβs laughed at. But for women sheβs a hero and without evidence he can go to jail. Such a thing would never happen to a woman. Sure the system has double standards for men as well but most of the double standards are legal and financially crippling for men where as the benefits of being a man are less prominent today then ever and this will negatively effect women as well. The rate of women complaining they canβt find a good man today is proof of this.
Raised by a single mom.
Went to 9 different schools and never had a make teacher.
Went to a university that was 70% female , had to take a mandatory class telling me how awful men are.
Denied equal scholarships because I'm male
Denied a job SPECIFICALLY because they wanted a female engineer.
Will die Sooner because of the lack of access to healthcare fir men.
Work at a dangerous job because I didn't get the engineering position because I'm male.
Expected to work longer hours because I'm male.
Been denied equal time off because "she has a family" so I get to work Christmas while she goes hoy.
Constant, blatantly misandrus messages in the media.
Etc etc etc etc etc.
Remember, matriarchies are the MOST VIOLENT societies.
Men are at the mercy of women, and the gynocentric order to destroy a man if he even looks at a woman the wrong way.
In fact men are dumb messing with women. They will not agree, and make fun of the prospect that men should fear women, but at no point where a woman can call the authorities and say anything, have virtually no consequences, and laugh as men are fined, charged, and thrown in prison if a woman get mad, which is very possible if her emotional sensibilities gets challenged, speaking to all you Karens.
And then with all these men picking up on Red Pill Wisdom and MGTOW are a reaction to all the stuff going down. Of course women and their blue-pilled orbiters will disregard and shame guys for watching out for themselves. The feminist will call misogyny, but now we are hearing stories of police seeking out men who were trying to help a woman with dropped items and opening doors and the woman misinterpreted as a possible attack.
You know what if men wanted to collectively organize we could easily send women back inot servitude like it is 1850 again. We have the strength, knowledge and application of force and logical aptitude to do this. Im not kidding. It is who created a platform for feminism to bitch on given that we invented mass communication, birth control, democratic governments and advanced militaries to defend free countries (ironically lots moron modern feminists think communism will somehow benefit women. I donβt know too many top female leaders in communist countries). We GAVE any so called βpowerβ you think you have. We could take it away if we really wanted to. And more and more Iβm wondering if we should
Maybe your mother should take away your power to live. (Jk obviously, but dude that's a shit idea and shit reasoning).
@snackthatsmilesback actually looking back on this I could of worded this better. I admit it was too bitter and negative. But every time I hear a western woman complain about βpatriarchyβ I just want recoil and I wish someone would slap someone sense into her. Iβm just so sick of hearing that bullshit
However I do contend that feminism would of never of succeeded if itβs wasnβt for supportive men.
Maybe true like how the American revolution wouldn't have succeeded without support from France. But I don't think that invalidates the success at all.
Some women do try and act like they have it as bad as they would have back then tho and that can be really irritating I know cause they do have it a lot better now thanks to all those changes. I know it's not perfect yet yknow technically we may still live in a patriarchy but almost everyone has equal opportunity now and that's better than most places ever.
@snackthatsmilesback we live in matriarchy now and you know it.
I donβt want to go down the βincelβ route here. But women are getting their cake nowadays and they still want to eat it. Sure you will find isolated incidents of patriarchy but in the western world thatβs a thing of the past.
I don't know man whatever it is it's still pretty close to the middle.
@snackthatsmilesback also about the βMaybe true like how the American revolution wouldn't have succeeded without support from France.β That is a very false comparison. Women are always will be different from men. Thatβs not necessarily a bad thing. Femininity is critical for the balance of life in this planet. Women help give men fulfilling lives and a nurturing mother is essential to raise child.
But again men created modernization and platform for women to gain rights and equality. But we held the keys to power the entire time and we still do.
When it all comes down down to it I WANT capable women to succeed and lead. Yes if you gave me a viable female politician who proposed policies that I agree with I would vote for. Also I try hard to judge a woman for sexual promiscuity any different than a man. As long as she isnβt cheating on people I donβt care who or how often she does it.
With all that said above there is a new wave of feminism that is NOT about equality but about the sneaky bullshit leftist term βequityβ. Equity is the means of intentionally holding certain people down to let others βsucceedβ. Also donβt get me started on the disgusting weaponization of βmetooβ.
I don't see the false equivalency. Colonies wanted independence, fought for it with France's help, and won it. Women wanted equality, fought for it with men's help, and got it.
But also women aren't here to "help give men fulfilling lives" any more than a man's primary life purpose is to make a woman's life fulfilling. They have their own lives. (And a father is just as essential to raising a child as a mother is so I'm not sure why you bring that up.) And yeah men may have held the keys during that time but women now can get and are in positions of power over those platforms and such same as men are.
And yeah equity is usually bullshit, though it would be nice if given equality people could all get to equity on their own.
@snackthatsmilesback i donβt want women to live in huts. But I once dated one girl who was literally a sex doll from the year 2350 (very beautiful but almost like a robot) and I also dated a girl who was semi pretty but extremely intelligent, independent and capable of abstract thinking and critical debates.
They both ultimately screwed me over but which one do you think I was much more deeply loved and extremely hurt by?
I thought this girl could be my βequalβ in regards to understanding deeper nuances. I was mature enough to accept her wanting to break up. Love isnβt about possession. Itβs about caring enough about someone that if they are happier without you then you canβt accept it.
But guess who also started out as a moderate liberal who could debate fairly and later made lots of friends and was influenced by radical feminism? Guess who told me βtough luck you are an exβ when I got some life changing horrible news only a few weeks after the split (who was just recently starting to use bs words like βpatriarchyβ)?
Now I know thatβs just one example. I have several others. But that one definitely made me lose hope for any woman who truly and FAIRLY believes in equality.
But again I swear if we have ever had a world catastrophe (like mad max) and modern civilization dissolved most modern feminist would all of the sudden find themselves next to powerless. Physical violence along the ability to organize for warfare is and always has been the manβs suit. Sure there are some awesome female soldiers out there (I remember when two badass women successfully completed army special ops training... most men canβt even do that). But overall brute force would sadly bring a very harsh reality to what βequalityβ really is.
I never want to happen but Iβm just saying. Modern society which MEN created enabled women. We GAVE them a platform and they take it for granted.
Im sorry I don't understand. Yeah there's some bad ones. There's some good ones who get turned bad. Dumb and smart and pretty and ugly. Some devil bitches. Same as men. Not to sound insensitive, some breakoffs are shit and she sounds like a cold one. But Feminism didn't make women bad, bad women took over Feminism. I don't see what you're saying I think I misunderstood the point.
Yes it may be men who started civilization (which is cool), and yes if it was down to brute strength we'd be in charge again. But it was never just brute strength that let us survive and evolve, and this far in I think that women would stand about as decent a chance in a situation like that as men would. It mostly comes down to chance brain and skills, not necessarily strength. Otherwise hippos would be in charge of us.
But all that doesn't really matter does it? I don't see why. Because how does that hypothetical effect our reality now, in civilization, as equals?
@snackthatsmilesback radicals are getting their way. What was radical 5 years ago is now mainstream today. Whatβs radical today will be mainstream in 5 years.
The absolutely insanity of the Brett Kavanaugh metoo βhearingsβ is a prime example of this. He was almost completely destroyed by just one womanβs baseless accusation that had no evidence or reliable witnesses. And yet it almost ruined him. Women often want attention and sympathy for their βmental traumaβ but what the fucking mental trauma they put guys like him through?
Yeah there's some bad ones and they're taking over a movement. And people are starting to see that they're bad ones and are stopping listening to them so much. I don't understand why we're talking about this though.
@snackthatsmilesback because the bad ones ARE the movement. Thatβs why.
Okay but why are we talking about it?
This thing we call "society" is committing suicide rapidly. It doesn't matter if it's patriarchal or matriarchal at this point. It just needs to be FUNCTIONAL. And it no longer is. Griping over petty gender role differences in a whiny way, being ruled by envy, the masses have turned a blind eye to their role of oversight regarding their representatives. The result has been government overwrought with corruption and perversion at every level. And the more this is tolerated, the more this perversion trickles down to every layer of human existence, until we create Hell on Earth.
And then, fools blame God for the world that Man created to get away from God! It's like pushing the Earth out of its orbit, then blaming the sun when we all freeze to death!
It depends.
For example, if the evolution of the society is primarily based on money and power it'll be naturally have patriarchal tendency, but if the technology and intelligence is the key for this society then they won't be any sides, since it'll be naturally balanced (no physical power is needed).
Recent years or months, it's been a tendency in Hollywood to make men mainly white men to look bad, and women and minorities look heroes. This behaviour in media will likely influence gullible people into praising these behaviour in media. No matter patriarchal, matriarchal its not good to make one side look bad. In a society we have to live by accepting our differences not bashing men and praising women. Just be a human. Gender is only an important in the toilet or bed🤷🏻ββοΈ.
I would say most of the west is a gynocentric patriarchy.
It is a patriarchy because the family structure is monogamous marriages for the most part.
It is gynocentric because the system is designed to protect women and children at all costs at the expense of the men. A good man is one that is willing to provide and protect his family and wife at the expense of his well being.
A matriarchy would be characterized by loose family units where the children in a household are parented by many different men who have a loose attachment to them and the family unit. Matriarchies have existed in the past, however all those societies eventually became patriarchies.
Um no. I agree with your first characterization not your second. A matriarchy is when a woman leads the collective.
@VanillaSalt You may be right... a matriarchal society is mostly mythical since no known historical society was unambiguously matriarchal according to wikipedia.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matriarchy
Iβm definitely right but thanks for reclassifying society for me.
How do you figure?
When a girl has mental health issues, people are open and want to help her and take it seriously
When a guy has mental health issues, he's either made fun or told to man up & ultimately no one gives a shit
When i turned 18, i have to sign draft papers just in case the military ever need me, you don't
When it comes to child custody and child related issues, women most of the time are favored & win
You girls can act really shitty and rude to people and people will still defend you & even encourage you to act that way
When a guy acts like that, he's an asshole and labeled all kinds of names
Guys are told to make improvements on themselves, while girls are told they're beautiful just the way they are by society. I can go on further. Tell me how we live in a patriarchal society?
It depends on what you mean by patriarchal society.
But my answer is no, in patriarchal societies the state has clear laws against women (not allowed to do this and that while men can), they give different rights for men and women, with men having more rights.
That's not the case in Western societies, there are some laws treating men and women differently, but some of these laws are biased against men, while others I agree that are harmful to women, but it's not so one-sided.
What I agree is that there are social norms and certain environments that discourage women to do certain things (and men face the same thing by the way), and that's bad, but not enough to call the society patriarchal.
All you need to know to answer this question is the following:
The patriarchy is dismantled, slain, buried and history. From it's ashes has risen confusion and certain privileges exclusively for women.
@hahahmm
Ugh. This drama again πππ
I can tell you this with 100% certainty, if we lived in "Patriarchal Society", today it would've been impossible for women to take half of their partners possessions after divorce. Prenups probably be mandatory.
No, and the proof is that desperate guys keep sending you pics of their junk that nobody wants to see. Does that seem "empowered" to anyone?
When, in Western societies, are women ever that desperate for approval? Pretty much never, unless they're a hardcore heroin addict or have a serious eating disorder or something.
No. That would mean that there's rules enforcing any male figure of power must be succeeded by another male. In most societies in the world (excluding countries like north korea) women can be chosen to get power, so by definition we do not. We live in a democracy.
It depends on where you go. Churches turned matriarchal and men have by and large left them. Schools are matriarchal, 90% of teachers are females. Families are matriarchal, marriage, abortion, sex happens after a decisision by a female, no one else. And many holidays exist to generally promote females in society
Yes, ultimately. But we live more in a class system, one that the 'rich old white men' are still running, clinging to old ideals and outdated concepts.
They will die off and so will their ideals. Someday.
Yes and No. Depending on what were talking about. Obviously men have more political power but then again there are a lot of female teachers so maybe this has an influence on children and their beliefs. However, I don't think patriarchy or matriarchyβs are inherently bad until the people in power create rules to discriminate. But no matter how you feel about America being a patriarchy or not some things need to be left alone like the military and BSA should be only for men.
LOL no, men are disadvantaged in just about every category of today's American life.
Of course, now mostly we keep getting better and the west has changed a ton lot. But still is really, nvm how america still never had a female president. England we have a queen and female prime minsters ofc.
Then the east is still super bad.
No. We're quite far from the 50's.
In fact we're going too far, and turning into a matriarchal society.
Go to a hardcore muslim country and live there for say 1 month and then, when you are begging to come back to we can talk.
I wouldn't say its patriarchal now
there are still a lot of problems to do with sexism and other types of discrimination
but saying women are oppressed here at least wouldn't be totally accurate
American liberals deteriating their society on behalf of the communist regimes which find internal conflict to be the demise to a mighty foe. You want patriarchy go out east. Born in a world where opportunity is all you know yet are blind to the pain and suffering which got us here. So eager to dismantle wo the foresight on how2 rebuild
It's always been. But it's much less so now.
Thus, all the current hub bub.
Of course we do! One only needs look at the fact that a woman makes 7/20 what a man who does the same job. It obvious women are second class citizens. Now don't get mad at me I didn'tcssy it wS tight. Just reality.
No. We live in a Satanic Plutocracy. The people that run things at the top actually would prefer genderless robot bodies. All the governments of the world are working overtime to crush all masculine resistance.
Yeah that's not even a question. Just straight facts. Society is built to mostly benefit men.
Oh? So why is it almost exclusively men who suffer from it? 80% of suicides are male, 80% of homeless are male, women get better then equal custody 61% of the time vs. a mans 9% of the time, 80% of alimony/childsupport is paid by men. Women are 160% less likely to be convicted of a crime compared to a man and when convicted only get a third of the sentencing a man does. Women have never been required to be conscripted into the military. Rape is largely viewed as a gendered crime despite data showing that women are just as likely to rape a man as a man is to rape a woman only the man gets punished for it. Domestic violence is statistically more likely to be perpetrated against men not women yet our entire system is predicated on men being the abusers not the women. In addition while we have one domestic violence shelter for men (privately funded if memory serves) in the entirety of north america, we have upwards of three thousand publically funded domestic violence shelters for women. Statistically boys score higher on tests then girls in schools yet they are consistently given lower grades despite this. The entire school curriculum is designed around how girls learn (by the school systems own admission) thus hurting boys to the point where we now have them dropping out of school at four times the rate of girls. Women get four times the grants and scholarships for college then men have, are over 63% of all college graduates and yet we still demand that we need more women in college despite this.
So where exactly in all of these stats, do you see a society that benefits men but not women?
This isn't a men vs women matter the patriarchy negatively affects men too. Just because society is build to benefit men doesn't mean it only benefits them and it doesn't mean that all men experience the benefits. Mostly rich white men.
OH! Okay, so society is built to mostly benefit men, but they are the ones suffering the most in every single catagory which is why this isn't a men's or womens issue but patriarchy (male lead society) which is different then a society being led by men despite the fact that this is literally the meaning of patriarchy. Got it. Do you ever listen to yourself or do you just kind of do a stream of conciousness?
Also, if men are suffering in all catagories and all women are benefiting then how do we have rich white men benefiting and not instead women in general benefiting, beyond the obvious answer of you don't want to admit to your own privilege?
@hellionthesagereborn
Where exactly did you get your 'stats" ? Citations please.
Oh I forgot about this. Yeah these stats seem a tad off lol
www.telegraph.co.uk/.../

Not that you would ever admit to being wrong, you would have to admit to having privilege if you did that and that would be unacceptable to you.
The federalist is right wing bias, posts about conspiracies, and false information.
Baltimore sun article doesn't really prove anything you said.
USA today has links that lead nowhere so you can't fact check what they are saying. Pretty sus.
Telegraph is behind a pay wall but I read a different article, yes they extended time in exams because women were struggling under the time pressure, the time is allocated to all students not just the women though.
Ipt *journal* is from 1994.
This is simply not true qz.com/.../ "since records began in 1989, in the US there are only 52 cases where men convicted of sexual assault were exonerated because it turned out they were falsely accused."
Telegraph again behind a pay wall, I googled it. Yes this happens all the time not just to women. Literally just Google "man spared jail sentence" and you'll see thousands of similar cases.
Propublica article says more about the justice system being fucked up than anything else.
Woah women earn more than men in an entire 9 out of 342 professions...
An article that says sexual assault is low in one area. Amazing that's great.
Again from 1994 not relevant
Again just shows how fucked up the justice system is.
None of these articles proved any of these stats.
Here's the articles that you were looking for https://save.org/about-suicide/suicide-facts/ yes men represent 79% of suicides in the usa. Women are also 3x more likely to attempt suicide.
70% of homeless people are men endhomelessness.org/.../
"around 90% of women are awarded custody, but they also fail to show that 60% of men get custody in a contested cases. Similarly, in just over half of all divorce cases, the parents mutually decide that the mother will take the custodial role" www.weinmanfamilylaw.com/.../
That links to women usually getting custody so we will leave that one
160% isn't a real stat. But again justice system is shit.
Women weren't allowed into combat jobs until 2015. The draft hasn't been used in decades.
I haven't seen any stats that say women are just as likely to rape a man as a man rapes a women however I have seen stats of men that have been raped/sexually assaulted
400k women in 2019 vs 50k men. www.statista.com/.../
"1 in 4 women and 1 in 9 men experience severe intimate partner physical violence, intimate partner contact sexual violence, and/or intimate partner stalking with impacts such as injury, fearfulness, post-traumatic stress disorder, use of victim services, contraction of sexually transmitted diseases, etc."
https://ncadv.org/STATISTICS
ideas.time.com/.../ this talks about that. School systems are shit and a lot of people are set up to fail, especially boys because of the different ways they tend to learn. It doesn't just affect boys as girls can also be affected by this, but boys are more likely to have learning disabilities. We should accommodate to that.
Well they did, FBI data, CDC data. But like I said your sexist and you don't care that your wrong, you need to force this idea onto every one because the ideology matters more then reality to you. But like I said that was the data, that is the evidence and you have absolutely no argument. Just admit your sexist and you hate men, I don't care if you hate men I just get frustrated when people lie and try to obfuscate the truth.
Did you not see all the actual links I just posted proving your point for you?
At one time yes, but not so much anymore. Not in the west. But in much of the rest of the world it's still a man's world.
I just want everyone to be treated equally 😃🤷🏻ββοΈ
So you want to be treated the same as a slave worker in dubai?
You know what I meant. I want everyone to be respected. Equality cannot be achieved since there are billions of people, but at least, we can make sure to treat everyone with respect and dignity
So people dont need to merit respect? Thats the essence of patriarchy.
Dude, I really donβt want to argue with you. I just finished arguing with an asshole an hour ago. I donβt want to argue with a jerk again. Donβt ruin my mood with your stupid theories and opinions
Not any more unfortunately. We need to return to that.
While most positions of power are held by men, it's all meant to mostly serve women.
Considering youβre even allowed to ask this question, as a female, and not be charged with a crime and not face criminal charges for questioning and criticizing the current state of power, I would say No.
Right. A lot of these women have no clue how things are run in hardcore conservative countries... where they would be raped simply for being someplace without their husband and then charged with adultery and sentenced to years in prison for being raped. The rapists would get a medal for finding a slutty woman.
@hahahmm You canβt even leave your home in your country without written permission from your husband in some countries and people are literally complaining that states charge a sales tax on feminine hygiene products. Oh yeah and one simp downvoted me. π€£
Frankly, no. There's simply no laws or regulations that serve men exclusivly. No Western society caters to men specifically.
Anyone who thinks "boys against girls" is a meaningful way to think about how society works, is unambiguously a fucking moron.
@Djaay It's shocking to me that not only do people buy into that bullshit but that they'll pay $50,000 per year to major in "academic" disciplines that espouse it.
No. We live in a everybody take advantage of everybody society
Not really, but if you visit the middle eastern countries, the orient, parts of asia, these are patriarchal societies
Personally speaking, I do not think so. Iβm defining βpatriarchal societyβ in my own way.
No.. very obviously not actually.
@hellionthesagereborn laid it out nicely.
I love to be a part of matriarchal society where women have chastity keys, of male cocks , and they can pound loads in his ass anytime , make him his maid and slave , the idea is like heaven to me ,
Sarcasm at its... Worst?
No babe i am serious about that shiy
I would like to round up all of the feminists who make this claim, take them to an island and show them a real patriarchy. Then as they plead for forgiveness I would spit in their faces
sorry, I meant piss in their faces. Damned autocorrect
No and the lies feminists tell you are meant to bring about violent revolution.
No, women control men. They run the society by proxy.
Bruh what
@charlidunkin Modern Men simp for pussy, and do what women tell them to do behind private doors. They run the society through men by proxy.
Its men who run behind women thats why you think women control men
Depends on what you define patriarchy and where.
This image? Nope, not at all.
In the "west", not at all in any shape or form.
Yes, but only moderately. Men remain deferential to women.
In many areas of life but I wouldnβt say across the board completely in every facet.
Not in the west mostly, but in many arab countries there is radical patriarchy.
On the outside men appear to run things, but behind the scene women have immense power !!!
Are you kidding guy. What recourse do you have against billionaires that treat you as nothing more than part of their vast wealth creation machine? Dumb!
@ToastyOats You just proved his point. As a male he has zero recourse. If a woman lies and says Bill Gates raped her & gets 2-3 other women to tell the same lie, he'll be tossed in prison.
@hahahmm women are just the chink in the armour of traditional cultures worldwide. The solution is not less power for women but pushingbthem to become better people. I will not enable women around me to be ignorent, shallow and materialistic. No Disney, No phone, no cute phones, dogs and all the other crap most men use to infantalize their daughters and sons for life. It all comes around to bite you on the ass when your children are pawns in rhe army of the oppressors. Thats why pop culture exists, to corrupt and recruit you kids! Women are only higher on the diversity persecution stack when its useful for destroying men who stand against evil. No real power.
@ToastyOats Yes to all of what you just wrote but that is also why you shouldn't be defending these women in here. They need to be pushed to be better, as you say and part of that is not enabling their victimhood mentality. I wrote a bunch of mytakes, precisely because I think men should do more.
Not really but patriarchy is definitely the best way to run a society.
Yes, we do. Certainly in the lower classes. And also within most religions. (I'm a religious person myself, but I don't ascribe to that.)
No since I've been alive. We live in a gynocentric society. And that won't change as long as we have a consumer based economy.
If you mean the majority of worldly decisions are made by men then yes
Do white males have more opportunities than any other βgroupsβ? That should be a statistical, non-biased question that should answer yours.
Absolutely. Always have. It's gotten better, not good enough though.
No. Women are the privileged ones.
Only ugly women believe in that nonsense.
