As for the setting us back, again you are oblivious to reality. Which party ended slavery? Republican party while democrats endorsed it. For a century after which party used the KKK to kill blacks and white opposition party members to enforce their will, largely by killing any one who didn't vote for them allowing them to enact extremely racist laws? Well democrats did that and a quarter of the people killed by the KKK where white REPUBLICANS. Which party voted in every single civil rights law (over nine of them)? Well that was also republicans. Now which party is trying to remove the laws that prevent discrimination? Democrats. Which group is advocating for segregation in schools and universities now by wanting race based graduation and housing? Democrats. Again, its fascintating how far the indoctrination has come, terrifying but fascinating (you would think that realizing that you never interact with a group would make you less certain about making claims about them but no. You would think that simple existence would allow you to stumble upon some of this very readily avaiable information but no.).

Yeah, lets imagine every state as horrible as california with the fifth largest economy in the world, lots of jobs, who contributes 15% to gdp, with only 12% of the population below the poverty line, compared to red state paradises like MS and LA with 19% below the poverty line. And I have a sneaky suspicion that a very large majority of those in poverty are located around a certain few areas in them. Always the large cities that are a pain for the rest of the state.)
