Police officers are accused of all evils. They accuse them of racism, even more precisely of "systemic" racism, of being violent. I even see some group asked to have quarters without police officers
1) For me there is no police violence because the police have a monopoly on legitimate violence. There may be a violent police individual but not the police
2) On racism, again unfortunately there can be racist individuals, but considering a whole profession as racist does not make sense. There are plumbers, bartenders, firefighters and surely even racist doctors and yet we do not say that the whole profession of plumbers or bartenders is racist, which is just common sense.
I would like to see the police cut off for a while, so that all these anti-police officers realize how much we need them.

No joke, when I was no more than 5 years old, I can remember my mother telling my younger brother and me, "If you kids get thrown in jail you can expect to stay there because I won't be bailing you out. Because if you are in jail it means that you deserve to be. When a police officer tells you to do something you say, 'Yes, sir" and you do it!"
To be sure, beyond wondering how I would end up as the first second grader incarcerated on Alcatraz, speaking at just a personal level, I have no sympathy for this notion that someone is a delicate little snowflake who deserves to have his feelings given a higher regard than the rule of law. It is utterly alien to everything I was raised with.
The police have a risky job, their lives are on the line at every stop, and they have no way of knowing who you are or what you are doing. They deserve deference and if they go outside the bounds, you have redress for that in a court of law.
Pertinent to the question, the current popular attitude toward law enforcement is an outgrowth of a sniveling, self-absorbed and self-pitying culture that too easily takes for granted the difficult task of maintaining a stable social order. "The policeman was mean to me!" Good grief.
It is the sign of a self-satisfied and sanctimonious age that too easily takes for granted its safety and those who assure that safety. It is not the first time.

It showed that 72% of all women - and 92% of African-American women - of all classes and incomes and all the rest, did not feel safe walking in their neighborhoods at night.
Then beginning in the 1980s, a crackdown began - with "stop and frisk" and "broken windows policing" and the like. Such that by the early 2000s, crime had fallen to levels not seen since the peaceful placid 1950s. At which point the culture began to take for granted that which gave it the low crime rates and there began to arise a sentiment that the police were brutal and crooked. Thus now where the culture finds itself, with crime at levels not seen since the late 1970s.
Thus it is. Americans, as was said of the French kings, "Forget nothing and learn nothing." Suffice to say, we are about to repeat history.
The government and their media shills need to sow discord and chaos to keep the population distracted.
So take statistical anomalies that don't add up in the face of the full data (like police brutality on the basis of race and leaving out major details), to get riots going. The police are an easy target for such sentiment, because as law enforcers, they are the public face of authority.
Generally speaking, violent rioters and protestors are overwhelmingly made up of young, unmarried adults, or rather "young, dumb, and full of sh*t." These are people who only hear one narrative and immediately disregard any challenge to it whatsoever, or even with full knowledge that it's wrong, will use it as an excuse to commit crimes, which is what actually happened all throughout last summer. The areas actually hit the worst by arson and theft were disproportionately owned and operated by minorities, which is a pretty interesting trend considering the alleged premise of the riots...
So enter the government and media. Federalizing local and state law enforcement has been a wet dream of authoritarian filth for ages, but there's no way anyone would've supported it a few years ago. Now they've been crapping out narratives to smear the police while refusing to acknowledge when they get the facts wrong so that sentiments like "refund the police" can take hold. Keep in mind this is even while the specific minorities they claim to be trying to help are some of the most vocal supporters of MORE policing in order to curb gang violence.
So the police either get defunded and have to make cuts, or the situation gets so dangerous for them that they have to start ignoring calls from certain areas (like Southside, Chicago). Then the people demand action, and who gets to swoop in and save the day? A "re-imagined" (federal) police force. What exactly is the purpose of that? Mainly to strip power from the states and cities to make and enforce their own laws, and instead make them subservient to the federal government's whims.
Now whether or not the US federal government is even competent enough to run such an operation is another story entirely, but this is the big picture. When I was being interviewed for a position with a federal LEO agency a few years back, one of the agents I talked to was explaining that their focus was shifting from what they were originally founded for and towards more "conventional" police work for lack of a better term. At the time, this was a huge turn-off for me since I could much more easily join the city PD or county Sheriff for that, but in hindsight it makes sense why they said it.

Because of the media. Because the police are a target to shift the blame of the people instead of the politicians themselves. Are there corrupt cops, yes, should they be liable? Of course. But cops do more than what others see. They are the first at stressful scenes. They also are helpful in many situations, like saving people from those situations. Many of them tend to the lonely elderly when they're in need or distressed children. They also have to deal with really violent offenders. No actual civilian would want to get off their 9-5 jobs and then deal with the cracked out lady down the street throwing feces at local businesses or deal with violent drug dealers and violent gang members. Laws are made for a reason, order is put in place to uphold laws. If any law or order is not being justified, then I think people need to target those who make the laws and those that are corrupted. This includes any short comings of police. But calling for an elimination is really stupid. Order will always exist.. it has to or else the world can be without consequences. A lot of crime exists because of people who profit from it. Those things need to change.

You see, the Police Union is a very powerful and aggressive union and it is quite frankly at the center of many of the issues with police in USA. One of the ways it interferes is by retaliating against cities, mayors and other entities that undermine their interests such as threaten to lower the police budgets or hold police accountable.
As such there are plenty of examples of police going on strike and refusing the enforce the law, often replying to calls with something along the line of "Contact Mayor such and such and ask why the police is unavailable." as a way to pass on the blame for their inaction to the people they are trying to apply pressure to.
They however dont like to do this anymore.. Because it turns out that when the police stop policing the crime tends to go down and it sort of makes them look bad..
The fact, and yes its a fact at this point, that police causes a certain amount of crime on their own is only a small reason why people have started to hate police.
Another is that it has become blindingly obvious that they do not hold themselves accountable. The "Thing Blue Line" is a good example of how it can get out of hand. The police culture in USA is actually a fascinating subject to study because it has established a very systematic "Us vs Them" mentality where the police sees themselves as a separate group from the civilians.
This mental disconnect allows you to make remarkable leaps in logic but to make things short and simple to understand, it allows police to disassociate themselves with normal civilians and instead feel kinship with other police officers. It also means that they will take higher risks to protect their fellow police officers, especially if they feel like their group, that of police officers, are under attack and if the "group" that is attacking them is the general population then they have a vested interest in going after average people and protecting bad police officers from consequences.
Add to this the fact that the police has good relationship with the legal branch it means that not only are police rarely charged by other police but the court usually sides on the side of the police and the opposite is true for average people.
Then we have the problem of "bad cops". You see, the screening of police in USA is really bad and the training might just be worse. As a result, a lot of people who wants to use the authority of the police to harass or abuse general people have a history of seeking to become police officers and they generally succeed.
Add to that the fact that even if they get into trouble for something bad that they did they are usually able to quit their job and just get re-hired as a police officer somewhere else and usually for higher pay.
We can also talk about laws that are hilariously badly written, both intentionally and accidentally, such as the civil asset forfeiture which allows police to essentially steal money and property from anyone they "suspect" of certain crimes. This can and has been abused to simply just allow police to legally steal whatever they want from whoever they can frame as even slightly suspicious.
In effect they can simply search you, find that you carry money, claim you are going towards a "known drug location" and confiscate your money without ever charging you for a crime and just leave with your money to do with as they please. Same if you have a nice car that they want or perhaps a nice couch or a nice TV.

Also, taking anecdotal or personal experience has actual evidence to prove or disprove whatever it is they want to prove or disprove.

For every nine good, honest police officers, there is one that is as crooked as a Virginia fence. When that officer does something he/she isn't supposed to do (kill someone when they didn't have to, cover up evidence, plant false evidence, etc.) They are too often backed up by their police unions who do not seem to follow the same legal process as the rest of us. Too often do they get away with very questionable acts and too often are they allowed to stay on the police force.

You clearly don't understand what institutionalized systemic racism is. Look at the laws (and why people are trying to change them). Racism is just a tool though, the real issue is class. Those who amassed or inherited wealth live in a world where different rules of law are applied (if they are applied at all) than the world the rest of us live in. Lots of people have long boring stories about lots of cops more than half of them for sure to tell and tell them truthfully. If people who think cops in general are good people they really should go through the misery of listening to what those people have to say and investigate to see if they are true. The media publishes what will get the highest ratings. Ratings usually result from controversy. So we pretty much see almost nothing but controversy. Statistically only a very tiny percentage of the police actually commit wrong doing. But that small percentage gets almost all the publicity. So the public only has it's own direct experience combined with what they see on the news. Most direct contact with police is negative. This is because 1/3 of direct contact is being pulled over by the cops. 1/3 is being detained by the cops and 1/3 is when you call the cops. So bottom line is, most people only know about cops what they see on TV. 2/3 of the rest only see the police when they are in trouble. So this means that a lot of people will have a negative view of the police even when it is undeserved.
Many of them have abused the system and their power and their so called "good" brethren sit on their ass and let it happen. They have unfortunately earned it.
Not too long ago I watched a video of a female cop pull over a male cop that was going something like 40 MPH over the speed limit because he was late for a second job. She arrested him and treated him like she would treat anyone else.
Instead of treating her like an honest cop, the force the other guy worked for harassed her by stalking her and parking in front of her house at all times of the day and also playing mean pranks on her, all because she did her job.
Since she didn't look the other way, she got abused.
I've also seen too many videos of police planting drugs when they didn't know when they are on camera.

I don't know what it is with people viewing a few videos and then assuming those videos account for a vast majority or at least sizeable percentage of the group they observed. Guess what, those videos don't prove shit, only isolated incidents.
I've viewed tens of videos of cops getting shot and killed during stops where they encountered a gang member or cartel member, or just a disgruntled civilian with a gun. Some people tend to forget that these people are still at risk of getting shot or seriously harmed on their job, and that is why they have their power.
In some neighborhoods the police are the only thing preventing street gangs from raping and pillaging everything and everyone. Your guns aren't gonna save you. I'm pro gun and pro-gun ownership. But in cities, gangs have more guns than we do and they're much more willing to use them than are citizens. The reason criminals like that fear the police is because the police can outgun and outnumber them. Kill ten cops and a hundred more show up within the hour. They have almost unlimited manpower and weapons. Put simply, if you fuck around with the police you're going end up dead. Gangs know this and they too have a sizable amount of manpower. Citizens do not because they are not unified the way gang members are. The police are the only thing keeping some neighborhoods from being completed obliterated by street gangs. I have my issues with the police sometimes but in some places they are essential to have around.

Because the intended purpose of the polices has always been to be a responsive force; in the last few decades, the police have been proactive. This means that the same people that were bullied in high school, that declared that they wanted to change the world, have gone out and started bullying the regular public. A vast majority of the police are of lower IQ, think the 100-110 range, and are incapable of making decisions based on reasoning rather they follow a black and white set of rules that don't take variables into consideration. Society hates people that can't use common reasoning because they make us all worse; society also hates people that actively choose to put themselves into positions where they're doing jobs they don't understand the basis of. What a lot of people forget is police are one part of an emergency services triad. So goes police, so goes fire and EMS. Weâre already seeing it now. EMS in my area wonât arrive on an accident scene until police have secured the scene.

Beatings, killings, violations of rights, and false arrests are not "legitimate violence". They are crimes no matter who does them. Cops are not above the law but often think they are.
There are places that the police are needed, especially in very large cities, but in most places, they serve no useful purpose. They get hate because they serve the government and not the people.
