There will never be anything that all people agree on and sadly this just means that people will continue being hurt. Have your opinion but I don’t think it’s right if it’s a judgement on something people can’t choose like race or ethnicity
Freedom of speech and thought or whatever is part of your human right so yes. But it can’t really be considered a right if it infringes on other people’s rights at the same time, but then you can use that argument for people who want to eradicate racism and racists’ rights to be racist... l
My unpopular opinion is yes they do. I’m not justifying racism or saying it is correct, but is impossible to police people’s thoughts and slippery slope to do so. What should be illegal is treating people differently due to their race or putting them to a detriment. But stopping people from thinking something, nope not on my watch.
There are many actions which you can take which are discriminatory and legal. E. g., you can have an all-Caucasian group of friends and exclude all other races; that is not illegal. You can have a party and invite only Asians and that is not illegal.
I believe we have a right to our opinion about another race, but we also have the right to treat others the same way we would like to be treated. Certain customs and traits seem unusual or odd to us, but that shouldn't stop us from respecting their right to live and operate in this world.
Yes, people have a right to believe what they want, even though I may disagree with them.
Thats why we are a free country. We can say, hate, like anything we like. Even when it pisses off other people. Thats their right to be free to choose.
Take that away and there is no more freedom. Sad part is, we lost 90% of our freedom just in the past 100 years.
Just look what you could do a 100 years ago. That you can't today.
And it can be looked at the other way to. Look what you can do today that you can't do 100 years ago. Like spy on everyone in the whole country though a cellphone. Spying like that would not fly a 100 years ago.
Everyone has the right to speech. Everyone has the right to expression. Do you hate others? Do uou care abput differences amongst others? Or Do you even care at all? Racism is mostly spoken in a agressive-not so much agressive force. But it is spojen with hate behind it annnd that leads to a big problem.
It depends for me i think? I take it as a joke, its better that way because i can still be happy in the end. it hits different versus when you call a black man a n*****. You understand, you get it? Just laugh it off and say "yeah hahaha im definitely love chicken and play basketball, hbu?" Its how you take it.
(To the sensitive people) Let loose a bit, dont be stuck up n ruin the mood for today.
People have the right to think whatever they choose to think. I may or may not agree with them, but as long as their irrational beliefs do not violate my individual rights it is okay.
The government's only proper function is to protect people's rights (life, property, liberty), not to say what is right or wrong, nor to sanction or censor beliefs.
I thought this site is international, but it's very American-centric.
Anyway, what makes you think that the act of eradicating racism would do any good at all. Besides, it is already eradicated from the law, Jim Crow is no longer a thing.
Besides, you guys are fucking morons for believing that racism is the cause of your unhappiness and inequality. It might have been a convenient excuse, but it is certainly not the cause. You don't need a multi-racial or multi-cultural nation for the injustice and massacre to happen, and further "tackling racism" will solve absolutely nothing
Yeah. Doesn’t mean it’s ok though. But nobody has the right to tell you what to think or believe. As reprehensible as it is, you can be and say whatever racist shit you want. It’s literally your right.
Everyone is a fucking racist. Yes Im a true mother fucking lib! I will carry my fucking lib flag proudly. Salute my JFK Photo Everyone is a racist and judgmental about something and someone. I hate my own background.. Why? They are in competition with everything, if 1 person had a BA. They would shoot for a BS, MS, and PhD to say my dick is bigger than yours. Same with cars, if you have a BMW, the SOB will get a Mazararti and a mansion. Fuck that.
Yes, people are entitled to their beliefs, but it is the educated society's duty to challenge racism and shift the racist mindset. It's all about education and passing that knowledge to younger generations.
really racism is a biological fact. nobody is not racist... this will become more clear in times of economic downturn... like what we are about to see.
when the going gets tough the tough start hating everyone different than them. only an age of prosperity can make people pretend otherwise and that time is almost over. it was a good 75 years.
People have a right to their beliefs, as odious as they may be. That said, when those beliefs spill over into some forms of behavior, it can become a problem (racist cops or Judges, for instance, letting their racism influence their professional behavior and decisions).
What’s wrong with racist thoughts? It’s when you turn these thoughts into evil actions your head should roll. Just cause someone dropped the n word and your poor feelings were hurt you wanna burn down a fucking city… nitwits.
The more you talk about race the more racism you will create in either direction. So government should down play it all. You don't need more then a five minute explanation in school. Just to explain the concept.

Racism is a very dangerous thing, but it's a necessary evil sometimes for the government or the ruler of a country, ever heard of divine to conquer, they sometimes light the fuze so they'd do what ever they want since people would be busy fighting each other, history proves it, look at the history of rawand (African country) on that matter and what it took to end the discrimination and racism they once had. And that's why there won't be any kind of direct solution applied on this matter
Please stay ON TOPIC with your responses! The question is NOT whether you agree with racists or racism. The question is whether people have a right to be racist.
No, racism is intolerable Unfortunately racism will always exist, and I believe that no matter the type of laws that will exist, it cannot be prevented

To the people who picked D or anyone who is racist, I hope you burn in hell in the most ruthless way possible. But yes you have the right to think that way, (I picked C) however I have the right to fantasize about stabbing you. Freedom of speech doesn’t mean freedom of consequence.

Yes, we have the freedom to think whatever we want but our conduct must always confirm to the legal standards.
@OlderAndWiser
"Yes, we have the freedom to think whatever we want but our conduct must always confirm to the legal standards."
That is the ideal however when it comes to legal standards they keep moving the goalposts.
People have the right to free speech and expression over that side of the pond.
you can’t pigeon pick what is within rights or not.
therefore yeah they have the right.
Chances are people have the right to a lot of other things society does not like.
however everyone has the right to call them out on it and say it how it is.
There is no place in the world for bigotry.
I say bigotry rather than simply racism, as really we should not be pigeon picking what bigotry is allowable.
unfortunately racism is part of human life and will never disappear.
The left has already displayed why we can't have the government trying to eliminate racism...
Everything they disagree with is racist. The new thing they say is that you can commit violence with speech.
So freedom of speech has to be absolute otherwise they'll use any excuse in an attempt to silence their opposition.
Racism is wrong. Children should be brought up by all the people in their lives to denounce racism.
The question is NOT whether you agree with racists or racism.
I chose option B

This is true, but I would argue that this is not putting someone to a detriment.
Okay, but detriment is not the measure which determines whether a right is protected by law.
Depends which countries laws unr talking about, I’m from the Uk so law is different
Yes, indeed!
