Have you ever personally experienced any form of racism or any form of prejudice in regard to your ethnicity?

Yes I've went to the park for pick up games. And the rules aren't written they're just known.
You got 10 guys playing. As people continue to show up they wait for the next game the next 5 play the winner as the winning team plays till they lose. Well I was like the 12th guy to show up. So when 3 more showed up. The unwritten rules say the first five play. It was 1 black guy, me then 3 other black guys. But before the game ended. The 4 guys decided they wanted the 5th black guy rather than me. And told me I was going to have to wait for another game.
Sure I could have argued it. But I don't want to play on a team that doesn't want me.
I was excluded because I was white. No other reason. But it all worked out. Because I let them run that game like they wanted to. They won, then it was my turn to play against them with 4 other guys waiting. And I was highly motivated to show them talent knows no color. Because i'mv6'5" I scored most my points inside but I found myself fairly deep in the corner with the ball the defense sagging off me I short of faked as though I was going to attempt a transition 3 to see how the defense would react. Nothing. I looked my defender and said are you serious? You we're just going to let me take that. Without flinching he said you can't make that that's my present to you. I just shook my head. Took it. Nothing but net. The guy turns back to me with a mocking grin "lucky shot". I said really? What were the other 75 I made here practicing during your guy's first game? Were they 75 lucky shots? He goes you couldn't make that shot again. The words were barely out of his mouth before I'd picked up the ball buried the 2nd shot ( this time catching a little rim but not much). I go, " do you want to put some money on a 3rd one. I can do this all day". He just gave me a rye grin but no answer as now my teammates were telling them " you guys lost you have to get of the court". That guy never liked me after that. But because I was white I wasn't supposed to be able to play. Anytime he guarded me he would slack off in an attempt to embarrass me. But the only thing he proved was his defense sucked.

Actually went to court over discrimination and racism at a former job...and won. The company had a set of mandates for how they paid their employees based on seniority, education level, and experience. We were the only location in our district with an all minority staff. Despite having a manager who had the most seniority, education, and experience of all the stores and being a store that routinely outsold the others in the district, the company was vastly underpaying every single employee compared to the other stores. Not only that, we were the only store whose staff was routinely targeted for accusations of alleged theft from employees. They sent in secret shoppers to our location as well as internal employees to audit 5x more than any other stores in our district and still found no evidence of employee theft (because we weren't stealing)!!! Even after we demanded in several memos that they install cameras if they were so concerned and thought we were all thieves, they declined (how does that make sense?!?). They also declined giving us a security officer...but all other stores got one.
In the end, they had to back pay my manager and some other things that weren't disclosed in the settlement and they gave all the employees equal pay to the other locations. I soon quit this job after my manager left, and they hired a racist manager who said racist things to customers and staff. The company was a dumpster fire. They were actually in more litigation when I left over their sexist practices as well for denying qualified female job candidates CEO and upper management positions and lower pay.
I am of mixed heritage; latina and Native American. So, I have experienced many racist jokes. When I was little people found out that I am Native American. They teased me and said that they were afraid that I would “scalp them”. Basically, just going off of things they saw in old cowboys movies. However, this was all in the second and third grade. I moved past it. In more recents years, people have made fun of my latina heritage. Assuming that I only eat tacos (which is utterly ridiculous). These things are said as “jokes”. I know these jokes are wrong, and they hurt to hear. However, I often just laugh along and pretend that they don’t hurt. Racism hurts. Even when it’s just “harmless” jokes. It still hurts. I know that what I have experienced isn’t nearly as bad as what other people have experienced, or my older family members. But, it hurts. It hurts to know that we as a society still have long way to go when it comes to racism.
It always hurts and you never get used to such jokes, no matter how much time has passed. Thanks for telling your story.

Interesting question... since my name always tends to give people the wrong impression of my "ethnic" origin. I can honestly say that If used my mothers maiden name or my wife's maiden name... Yeah... Davis or Worthy as my last name would have made my life easier.
I swear I'm so white that I could blind people with my legs when I wear shorts. Yet, everyone will look at my name and have no clue of my Visigoth origin... Yep, I get my brown hair and eyes from my mother who is English.
When you can trace your patronic blood lineage from 1279 and your maternal lineage that was highlighted with all our daughters middle name (Elizabeth) from I have no clue how long that was used to tie the female line together.
I diverge and apologize... Let me get back to the question... Sometimes, it has nothing to do with what you look like and everything to do with your name. That is what has caused me more discrimination.. than what anyone even has taken at look at me.
I have a very long and rich heritage that is associated with my family name and in my families tradition... when we marry, the woman never loses her name and just has "of the "husbands family name" tacked on. Further, our children keep both names. That is probably the most confusing thing for people in the USA to even understand.
Well, yes, due to my mixed ancestry. The Italians make fun of my accent and I've been called a ''mangialumache'' or ''mangiaranocchie'' - slug-eater and frog-eater - while for a French girl I was a typical ''spaghetti''.
Here, I mostly got some prejudices about Italy - mafia, pasta, mandolino and Berlusconi.
I hope you never got discriminated against for your etnicity/nationality!
Im of arab origin living in europ you bet I've been racially profiled before. But contrary to what the sign says I think it is justified. Because people have opinions and have a right to their opinions whether to love something or to hate it. We vilify racism as if it's the greatest of all sins but who are we to decide what is right and what is wrong.
All people are racist regardless of their own race and everyone you meet will have a prejudice towards you it is up to you to let your character and personality prove wrong their prejudice and earn their respect. Crying about it won't fix it only setting a better example will
Like I said who decides that? Who has the right to say what everyone should or should not do? And do you truly believe that there is a way to get people to agree to do something they don't wanna do? There is a way to force them by punishing a certain behavior but that will not change anyone's mind. A person who is racist is gonna racist no matter what you say or do. And the more you try to vilify them for it the more they will emphasize it just to spite you
I grew up in a one square mile town that went from 70% white to 80% black. I cannot begin to explain what I went through as a minority. Although Howard Stern wrote about it in the movie body parts. I was there at that same time. Eventually we moved. Howard stern was not so lucky I can only imagine what he went through.
I am basically German and Irish. I had a great grandmother or so that was American Indian. I was too young to remember but people in las vegas did not like Indians. My mother said we were Italian.
I have at several points. Ironically the times that stick out where where when my family members where making what you could call racist comments towards me. Comments that where made because I was dating outside my race and betraying my family by doing so. They acted like I needed to hand in my white card for doing so. The only thing that they accomplished was inspiring me to do date outside my race even more. Simply because the issue is illogical and I love being a walking middle finger sometimes.
There is a new form of racism in town in the form of “birds of feather flock together.” Those birds of a feather are the new obsessive vaccine hypochondriacs that belong to the elitist followers. They have become bullies and in a way “racists” as were communists in the Russian revolution that referred to those not accepting communism as “racist” –direct translation. The new racism is transitioning into totalitarianism through a programmed segregation of each vaccine-bot. Within any racism, one only needs to conform regardless of race, or be discriminated against in many ways; white guilt participants are an example. Just as blacks couldn’t use a water fountain in an epoch past, so now is the public being locked down to non-Covid-19-experimental-vaccine conformists. This is going to come back to haunt all in a terrible way.
Sure. Even on this site from a certain useless waste of oxygen that I won't name.
Several times with racial slurs and I got pulled over while walking once. No joke. My friend and I were just walking and then asked a bunch of questions about why we were walking around this particular neighborhood. They asked for my id and im just like... I wasn't driving so i didn't bring my things. It was really weird.
So, maybe a handful of times over my first 45 years or so. But racial issues have been made FAR worse over the last 6 years or so as the Left has been pushing Critical Race Theory, which openly pushes for racism.
@doopayo Critical Race Theory is subset of Critical Theory - aka "how to implement Marxism in a pro-liberty western political system." Karl Marx's own writings discuss that Marxism can't convert an existing, successful western society - the entire society must be destroyed, history re-written, and the people divided up into tiny, warring factions, before enough people will beg for a government solution and will legally vote away human rights in favor of Marxism.
CRT attempts to do its part by using race as a dividing mechanism - to get people of different races fighting with each other. Note that race has been pushed into the mainstream culture as a big problem only in the last decade or so, and particularly in the last 5-6 years, because of CRT. CRT - like all facets of Marxism - tries to teach that EVERYONE is either a victim or an oppressor, and they create a "victim hierarchy" where people who were "more victimized" are always going to be right when compared to "lesser victims".
More over, CRT leaders, such as Ibram X. Kendi, have said this: “The only remedy to past discrimination is present discrimination. The only remedy to present discrimination is future discrimination." - an attitude which they've labeled "anti-racism" but which is quite literally racism. That's like saying the solution to past crime is current crime, and the solution to current crime is future crime. Wrongs have NEVER been fixed by committing more wrongs.
They are pushing for segregated schools, segregated stores, and even segregated cities. Many college campuses, including those in New York and Virgina, have ALREADY created segregated dorms and segregated spaces. How in the world is that not racist?
https://twitter.com/i/status/1227731045207793665
People are walking around, hyper-aware of anything they can spin into a race issue, seething with anger and anxiety, and ready to hate anyone they think they detect the slightest racist issue from. This includes hating blacks and other POC if they don't share the same CRT-based views. Black people are literally called "white" if they don't agree.
It's a cult, with all the insanity and hysteria and blind devotion that you see in a cult, and it's actually hurting most the very people it purports to help.
And where in the world did you get that it was inspired by Karl Marx, it’s meant to look at the US law and how it intersects with issues of race.
It emerged as a movement by the 1980s, reworking theories of critical legal studies (CLS) with more focus on race. CRT is grounded in critical theory and draws from thinkers such as Antonio Gramsci, Sojourner Truth, Frederick Douglass, and W. E. B. DuBois, as well as the Black Power, Chicano, and radical feminist movements from the 1960s and 1970s.
None of the thinkers are Karl Marx, whoever tried teaching you about critical race theory was blatantly lying. A simple google search could’ve taught you how this isn’t remotely true
@doopayo Black Power and Radical Feminism are themselves Marxist movements - this is hardly new information either. Look at Wikipedia:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Power_movement
What is referred to as "socialism" and "the Cuban Revolution" are references to Marxism (Marxism is a "flavor" of socialism). The raised fist symbol is literally the symbol of Marxism.
Radical Feminism was started by a group called the Red Stockings ("red" symbolizing Marxism/Communism) - literally pro-Marxist women who took over the Feminist movement. Former leaders of the Feminist movement were forced to either adopt pro-Marxist goals or had their power and position stripped from them, usually by having their funding taken via false accusations.
Again, you're acting as if this isn't common knowledge, or that it's a secret. Critical Theory was created by the Frankfurt School, which was later set up at Columbia University in New York by pro-Marxist German Jews who fled Germany in the 1930s when the Nazis came into power. Most of these leftist social movements have roots in the Frankfurt School.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frankfurt_School
Black Lives Matter co-founder Patrisse Cullors said in a from 2015 that she and her fellow organizers are “trained Marxists" and was proud of that association - and adopted the Marxist "raised fist" symbol for the BLM movement.
But they DO make other claims to try to hide their true goals (destroying western society - especially in the US - to prepare it for Marxism), though fewer and fewer are bothering to hide it.
Lenin: "The aim of socialism is always communism"
But yes, ever since Obama as president the race-baiting has drastically increased within society. By making people hyper aware, ingroups started to develop. Add to it a decrease of access to ressources and ingrouping gets even stronger as those ingroups are starting to fight for the ressources.
That would've happened earlier or later regardless, though. Multiculturalism doesn't work anyway, because the moment our wealth is starting to decrease said ingroups would build up and increase in severity. The only reason we could tolerate it for so long was due to our massive wealth brought by the ridiculous pace of technological advances in the last decades
@doopayo
You know the marxist teaching of class struggle? It used to be the Proletariat vs Bourgeoisie. The problem with that is that capitalism made the Proletariat relatively wealthy while all (sub-) forms of communism made them even poorer.
Including the millions of dead people that communism has caused over the decades, eventually it became burned soil. Thus the french and german intellectualrs (Post-Modernists and Frankfurt School) did a sleight of hand. Instead of being about the poor vs. the rich, they forced a class struggle of all groups within society. Race, gender, education, age, etc. It's now blacks vs whites, men vs women, college-educated vs non-college educated, old vs young.
But it is the same playbook of marxist class struggle. Just different battlefields.
I'm mixed race. I'm half black and half white but no one has ever treated me differently or harshly because of my race
wow half black really? i don't see it
yeah i was thinking that too. hispanic
Yeah, I’m a black girl. I’ve never heard a single black person that hasn’t gone threw some sort of prejudice/racism in their lifetime
Been called a Ching chong bing bong, eggroll, ramen, stir fry, and numerous other delicious dishes. I never let it get to me. Words are just words. Harmful actions I don't take lightly. I've been fighting bullies my whole life.
Yeah in the UK, we have some very varied accents and there is discrimination (based on stereotypes) on where someone comes from this is outside of their ethnicity.
For example, someone from Liverpool (scouser) is obviously a thief and if something has gone missing, always check the scousers first.
Then you have Scottish and Welsh.
People actually do not get jobs purely based on their accent.
Woah fr?
@tatianamay yes for real.
If you have a West Country accent and sound like you work on the farm, you will go through life people taking the piss and some jobs in other regions falling through.
Because of my Geordie accent southern shandy drinkers find it hard to understand me.
www.bbc.com/.../20170523-does-your-accent-make-you-sound-smarter
Wow; this is crazy. Why would someone change their accent? Lol. Did Margaret Thatcher really change her accent?
@tatianamay yeah it’s crazy, it was the case every 25 miles accents changed
Yeah but just from one person; an exes sister. She thought her brother should date within their race, just more respectably put. It embarrassed the crap out of said brother obviously. I didn’t give a crap what she had to say.
As a white dude in a diverse neighborhood, I get the Mexican restaurants who only want Hispanics to eat at their restaurants will serve you so poorly you will never come back. Like an hour to get your food when the people around, who came in after you, are walking out the door after eating. This is also happens at an Asian joint that hates whites and blacks. They only want Asain people in their restaurant. Stuff like that.
Sure, all the time. I get told I can never suffer, I cannot be discriminated against even as I'm being discriminated against, I have had my race used as an insult against me, I've had black people laugh at the idea of white men dating black women and even got to hear them arguing with a black woman about why she should NEVER date a white guy, I've been told that everything is my fault for being white etc. etc. It happens daily, just turn on the news and their it is.
You know when I was little I never thought people were racist I just thought some people were assholes I didn’t see it as a race thing I thought like this person is being mean to me because their an asshole not because I’m black
Yes. I've been misunderstood and had some pretty horrible things assumed about me because of my skin color. Not even because of my race, but just the color of my skin
I have experienced this in almost every country I have been to.
I am of Italian decent and when I was in high school people used to call me a couple of derogatory names about my ancestors.
I didn't really care so I wouldn't call it racism, but I was a white kid in Asian with lots of freckles, which they were quite open about disliking (you know, Asian 'pale worship' culture).
Since then I've returned to my homeland, and probably even more to the dislike of Asians I've grown a big bushy beard.
Not to say I don't like Asians. Had some good friends and think the girls are really cute. Man, half-white Asian girls are so cute!
Yeah there have been a few times. In the town where I grew up all the Mexicans would get racially profiled by the police.
Really, I try not to think about these things too much though. I know other people have had it way worse than I did.
I literally get told my opinion doesn't matter due to me being a white girl on this site. not had it in real life though, trolls love to troll.
@SnakeBoop isn’t that the truth
Because of the rapidly changing demographics, even though i'm white, i was ostracized in church because i complained about mass being in Spanish instead of English.. oops
I'm a brown looking white girl and I'm always invited for a random check at the airport.
I was bullied for having a comparatively darker skin colour than my other brown classmates. I went to gym and they stopped bullying.
All the time “your a straight white male so you don’t get a say in subject A, B, or C”. Sexism racism and Hetero phobic if you ask me
Some Norwegian tourists looked down on me and gave me the cold shoulder but they had no problem whatsoever when they talked to my friend (he had very fair skin and blue eyes). Apart from that one time I never had a problem.
Yeah and its easy cause my name is pretty foreign so it has happened before.
Yes in person When walking outside in a certain neighborhood alone in the middle of the night
I'm a mixed race, which isn't really obvious apart from my straight black hair. So I usually enjoy white privilege, but if shit goes wrong I can also use the R card.
i’m mexican and mostly it’s micro aggressions rather than full on racist remarks/acts
Yeah I had a black kid pick a fight with me in highschool because he knew that the administrators would blame the white kid if I actually fought him.
Lots of stupid shit like that at the office too.
Yes I have. My opinion has been considered irrelevant or inherently ignorant/stuck up because I'm white several times.
Yeah I get told I'm racist simply because I'm white. That's racist...
Is it in your textbooks yet? That’s what they want to officially teach with critical race theory. Not kidding. No exaggerating.
@backblueblack22 I know man that's what my dad told. It's actually ridiculous
*dad told me
People are waking up to this shit. Got to fight back. This is NOT a civil rights struggle. Instead this propaganda to make you feel evil for even existing.
@marc94 I’ll never tolerate real racism. But what’s happening now is Orwellian Marxism.
Absolutely.
Multiple times, yes.
But whites obviously can't experience racism. 'duh
I hope you're being sarcastic in that second sentence
@Noahcepticeye
@Account
One would think that I couldn't be more obviously sarcastic, but as times are nowadays - it became tricky to be undestood
I have.
It's a long story.
Thanks for the opportunity to vote yay or nay.
Yes, being an Indian guy, I've faced that a lot of times. Racial slurs, derogatory remarks and what not. It's preposterous to face the same hither as well.
Yes but i'm white so I guess it don't count
I have.. I was passed up for a job I was well qualified for because I'm white and they wanted someone that was not white. (hr's literal words to me) "I'm sorry while you are perfect for the job, we are hot hiring white workers any more."
If you include the different insults, contemptuous comments and threats I've received either online or irl, yes.
But for me it's just words, in general I just brush it off and not care much.
Of course I do. I’m a wasp. What would you expect out of liberals?
Yes. I'm a white male from Argentina and that's enough for collectivism advocators.
There are racists of all races.
No victims, lots of bitches though.
Yes. A couple of times
Nope most people don't. I've heard some racist remarks from black people but I don't consider those racist acts
We are ottoman empire's grand sons. It was a cosmopolit empire and there is no racism on our country because of that.
I started to experience it now because I am heterosexual, white man. Seems to become a norm in this country these days.
I've been made fun of for my hair and called the N wordd... aaaaaa...
Yeah, in Taiwan, Asians didn't want to sit next to me on the metro because I am white, and they gave priority treatment to other Asians.
I’m white and can’t say that I have. If so, didn’t register.
I definitely have. I’m not black, not Latino, not Asian, not Pacific Islander, not middle eastern, not Jewish... want to take a guess what my race is?
Same as me my g
Yes, because I'm a white male. Didn't get hired, not enough minorities.
White girl growing up in a black neighbourhood , I dealt with it for years.
Mostly from the mexicans
Oddly enough the white people have been the most nice.
Yeah a lot of times actually because I don't look Spanish enough
victim no, target yes
Nope.
A black girl refused to give me a free Big Mac.
Every day since that POS obama got in office.
Yes, mostly from blacks.
