Do you find it fitting that the cops of Chicago turned their backs to the disgraced mayor of Chicago?

After the patron saint, George Floyd, was murdered in Minneapolis, Lori Lightfoot (mayor of Chicago) proposed cutting the police budget by $80 million in her city.
Two days ago, during a routine traffic stop in Chicago, two police officers were shot by some worthless scum bag.

Officer Ella French dies at the scene, and her partner is fighting for his life in a Chicago hospital.

The officer in the hospital had his family there, as well as a couple hundred police officers showing their solidarity to their wounded teammate. So, Lori thinks she will make an appearance at the hospital to save-face for the scum she is, but all the officers turn their backs to her.

Lori didn't like this so in an interview, she tells the press that this is not a time to "spew hatred."

Hatred was awesome when Lori was spewing it, but when it's her job and ass on the line, it's not a good thing to do.

So it turns out that when you constantly belittle, demonize, and threaten to fire the people who do the insanely dangerous work of keeping you safe, it makes them mad? Cops are HUMAN? Who would've thought?

I'm not going to pretend that there aren't some serious, complicated, and VERY deep-rooted problems with policing in this country, but hell. Always be leery of a simple solution to a complex problem- it's probably political.

Jesse White is the current secretary of state in Illinois, and has held that office almost as long as I've been alive. He's one of the few Illinois politicians who never even had a whiff of corruption about him- Springfield is usually better than Chicago, but that's not saying much. Anyway, when Obama got elected to the Presidency, the task of filling his Senate seat fell to our then-governor, Rod Blagojevich, who put forth Roland Burris. Rumors started that Burris had bribed Blago for the appointment- those rumors turned out to be true, but before that was confirmed, Jesse White came out and said that if the appointment was finalized, he'd refuse to sign off on it. He couldn't do that- his signing off on it was ACKNOWLEDGING it, not APPROVING it- granting him the right to refuse it would be giving the secretary of state more power than the governor.

Corruption is the only language Illinois politicians speak. Getting rid of her won't be easy.

He did. I've often thought that as soon as a new Illinois governor is sworn in, they should be immediately handcuffed and sent to prison. It'd save so much time, and they'd be able to network with their predecessors!

Okay, I don't know if any of the former governors are STILL in prison, but I think it's five of the last seven or eight went to jail, and eventually, you have to notice a pattern. But that's the difference between Springfield and Chicago- down there, you go to jail when you break the law; up here, you get re-elected.

As a Chicagoan they were pushing very heavily for that earlier this year and even last year. So them turning their backs on her I’m not surprised. In reality she turned her back on them because they are not all bad as the news makes them to be. In certain situations it was necessary for the officers to shoot we see what happens when they don’t. Not saying that it’s right to kill a person but some of these instances they are just protecting themselves.

With the way the crime is here we just about all need a gun. These kids been carjacking like crazy and trying to rob etc…. I don’t blame the officers for being ready to shoot or even anyone. A couple years ago a teen tried to rob me at gun point in the middle of the street In Chicago. So everybody else that ain’t from here can gone somewhere these are real experiences that we face. They not wrong for protecting themselves. And this young officer wasn’t able to protect herself at the moment.
