President Donald Trump said Wednesday that Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson and Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker should be jailed “for failing to protect” Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials, the latest escalation between the leaders as the White House pushes ahead on its military deployment in the city.

Texas National Guard troops arrived in the Chicagoland area Tuesday, and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth called up 300 Illinois National Guard troops Saturday to be deployed for at least 60 days despite objections from Pritzker and Johnson.

During a Wednesday afternoon news conference, Pritzker condemned the president’s call for his and Johnson’s arrest and warned the president: “If you come for my people, you come through me. So come and get me.”

Pritzker also encouraged residents to protest the Trump administration’s immigration moves and document federal actions on the ground. He has vowed to use “every lever” at the state’s disposal to resist the deployment, accusing the Trump administration of carrying out an “authoritarian march” in Chicago and other Democratic-led cities.

Trump has repeatedly floated the idea of invoking the Insurrection Act if federal courts, governors and mayors prevent him from deploying troops to American cities.

They are responsible for enforcing the laws within their jurisdiction. By holding the office they have to do their best to maintain public order and respond to threats against its governance. So if Federal agents are enforcing federal law and there is threats against the federal agents (i. e. government), they are responsible for responding to those threats. Being that JB Pritzker is the Governor, it makes him the Commander in Chief of his state's National Guard, and thus he should respond to insurrection attempts against federal agents. Not doing so is a deselection of duty, especially when dealing with a known enemy terrorist organization. The Mayor commands the Chief of Police and is the the head of the Police force technically, so again Brandon Johnson would ultimately be responsible for maintaining public order. If they refuse to try to do their job, then clearly there is a problem. If they tried but didn't try all that hard, they would be within the bounds of their duty, even if incompetent.

LMAO Ok, if that's the logic, then Trump should have been in jail LONG ago for failing to protect the American public from himself and his cronies; the enemy within.

Funny though, if ICE were doing their jobs the way it's SUPPOSED to be done, and the Trump regime was supporting what the Law requires, they wouldn't be facing the kind of opposition they are. But clearly, much of current ICE for are NOT actually "trained ICE agents", but just deputized thugs with weaponry, masks and the desire to hurt people who aren't white.

They're operating outside of the law, and the point will come when they're going to get attacked by people defending themselves. That is what P-2025 wants so that Cheetoh can declare Martial Law and cancel any upcoming elections. It's all rather obvious.

In 2024 there were 402 murders in Los Angeles and the rest of Los Angeles county combined. The were 584 in Chicago. Los Angeles county has at least 3.5 times the population of Chicago. I think that's a problem.
