There is a lot to be said for the history of medically mandated things - a history of abuse towards people of color, poor communities and disabled people, so this question isn't without founding or merit, however I think the focus is a little off in conversations like these.
We often say we have the freedom to do things, but I think we need to consider what our responsibility to others are. Freedom comes with responsibility. Drunk driving is illegal because you won't just hurt yourself. This vaccine is getting pushed because it's not just about the individual. In order for children who are too young for the vaccine and people who are immuno-compromised to be safe, the rest of us need to get the vaccine. Without it the virus will continue to mutate, much like we've seen bacteria begin to mutate in response to inappropriate use of antibiotics.
While no vaccine is 100% perfect, they do curb the numbers significantly, we've seen that. So yes there are very important questions to ask about why it's mandatory and the history of mandatory medical practices, but it's also important to think about our responsibilities to each other, what we owe each other, and what it means to live in a society as we do.

I haven't received any injections, and I don't intend to, not because I'm some kind of weird "right-wing" conspiracy nut, but because I simply do not trust the people who are trying to "encourage" us to get jabbed. The process whereby these vaccines were created, the amount of misinformation from all sides, the fact that I have never been vaccinated against anything at any time and have never been sick, combined with how it originated in the first place and the manner in which it was denied for so long ("Oh no, it couldn't have come from a lab in Communist China! You're just RACIST!"), among so many other reasons, compel me to say a big, fat NO to this.
They want their Lord and Master biden to look good, like he accomplished something, yet not a damn one of them would get vaxxed when President Trump was in office. I ignore the leftists and their gas lighting.
Some of them think that it actually prevents the spread of the virus or it from mutating. Others are authoritarians who would throw everyone’s rights away for an illusion of safety.

It is all up to the individual. However, you have only got yourself to blame if your job application gets rejected. You only have yourself to blame if you catch it and lose your life
Yes, it is your choice, but it affects other people, and their reaction can affect your life.
I just had an eye check up in hospital for damage to the macular in my right eye. It's stable. All the 3 staff that looked after me were double jabbed. Made me feel a lot safer. It's your choice if you get the vaccine or not. I personally don't feel safe around people who aren't vaccinated and I'm vaccinated. Unvaccinated people are putting people like children and immunocompromised people at risk. There are also workplaces that require the vaccine so if you don't get it and lose your job then that's your problem. I mean you and your in general, not individually
Yeah, if the vaccine really works what are they still worried about?
Individual rights come before collective rights in any good society regardless.Vaccinated people can still spread the virus. It's my understanding that it just makes it less severe if one does catch it. With that in mind, doesn't the vaccine only help the person that takes it? So, how is it anyone's business.
Honestly, Elize...
You have control over your own life. So why are you wasting it all this outrage, eh?
Do you live somewhere locked down, or something? They are worried because
the longer Covid stays, the more types of Covid will born.
vaccine is not 100% effective but it can stop spread, and can corner Covid,
which will stop Covid from creating new types.they're control freaks about EVERYTHING. They're totalitarians, it's as simple as that.
I actually have no choice in the matter. Either get it and document it with work or I will lose my job
They say girls don't have brain...
And you're brand ambassador of this line.Because they want you to just do what ever they want.
I got both and had my card stamped... then I destroys the card... it's nobody's business if I did or didn't get the vaccine
It is their nature to be controlling freaks.
