Do you think humans work too much?

Some where along the way we standardized the 40 hour work week. We still gotta get ready for work, drive for work, and worry about a myriad of other things in life that takes up time away from pleasure. So life is about 80% pain 20% pleasure. I think we work too much if everyone had less hours worked sure there would be a slight decrease in our standard of living but what are we living now, a giant labor prison camp what kind of standard of living is that?

I've often said, 4 days a week at 9 hours a day would be better... somewhere between 34 and 36 hours a week is better than 40 hours a week.

There are studies I've read that show having a three day weekend makes people more productive, and no I don't have the link right now as I'm at work and no time, look for it yourself if your interested.

I think the perfect balance in a 24 hour day is, 8 hours dedicated to work...8 hours dedicated to sleep, and 8 hours dedicated to life, pleasure, doctors appointments, mowing the lawn, whatever... that would be the perfect balance to me.

When I say this, I mean 8 hours dedicated to work, includes travel time to and from... so they should just let us work from home, if possible.

I spent a significant part of my life working 10, 12, 14 and even 16 hours a day. It's too much. It will kill you.
I was watching a documentary on an indigenous tribe of hunter-gatherers in Africa. They spend about 4 hours a day working. Somewhere we went drastically wrong.

We work for what we want. If you are happy riding a bike, living in a homeless tent camp, then yes, you may work too much, just remember everyone that works makes things everyone needs, food, TP, clean water….

I don't right now in my current job. I certainly have in the past on an hourly wage. It is tempting to pick up more hours to get better pay.

Not at all I do 70 hours a week and still feel like I'm slacking off
