Let's ignore the inevitable liberal meltdown and utter chaos that would ensue and talk strictly about Trump's effectiveness as a president:

On his own, Trump is actually pretty solid. While he'd run his mouth about his personal opinions frequently, pretty much nothing he did through executive action was unprecedented, and he cited actions taken by past presidents as far back as Washington all the way up through his predecessor any time he did something official. He was personally solid on anything involving negotiation or deal-making, and relied mainly on simplistic common sense in other areas he wasn't as versed in. He definitely could've done better, but he also could've done much worse.

Trump's administration had two major problems: For one, starting off he wanted to be a bipartisan president with subject matter experts regardless of political affiliation. Sounds good on paper, but those people actively sabotaged him and the country itself. He spent a huge chunk of the next two years basically cleaning house and paying for an easily avoidable mistake. Any future president who doesn't totally clean house going in is basically setting themselves up for failure. This directly plays into his own personal flaw though, and that's a remarkably bad judge of character. Trump surrounded himself with some pretty dismal figures who weren't exactly doing him any favors. Secretary Mattis for example was a trash choice for SecDef, but he picked his replacement (Milley) solely because Mattis didn't like him, apparently oblivious to the fact that everyone else thinks Milley is a worthless yes-man bureaucrat who wears a uniform too. He also has a strange habit of looking the other way when other New Yorkers (like Fauci and Giuliani) screw him over despite his more prominent habit of firing underperformers. These are faults that the country is paying for now.

By extension, let's talk about the current state of the Republican party: ever since post-WW2, the Republicans have been a finicky alliance of the war-hawks/neocons, libertarians, traditionalists, and basically anyone else who opposes socialist trends. Were it not for their common enemy, they'd easily fracture into at least 3, maybe 4 other parties, and this lack of cohesion makes them very ineffective whenever they actually hold power, since keeping taxes low is about the only common ground they share. Whether the neocons want to acknowledge it or not, the Republican voter base is no longer interested in compromising with the left while simultaneously getting nothing in return besides fleeting tax breaks. People like Mitch McConnell may be able to win re-election in their own districts, but they are universally hated everywhere else in the country. This generally holds true for most Republican representatives and senators; their governors are the only ones who carry substantial support beyond their immediate constituents. Right now, there's basically no question that Ron DeSantis is the shoo-in nominee for the Republican primary, with Donald Trump as the only other serious contender. Those two are about 95% on the same page too, so I doubt they would pit themselves against each other. In regards to the perpetually fractured state of the party though, keep this in mind too: the Republicans had full control over the legislative and executive branch from 2016 through 2018 and did exactly nothing with that power, apparently due to in-fighting. That means at best, Republican domination of the government does little more than temporarily stall the leftist power grab until the next election, which some of them are fully complicit with anyway. The GOP may have a handful of strong leaders and more grounded values, but the party itself is basically worthless as anything but a speed bump.

The US needs to elect someone that can start healing a polarised country.

if the next person does not doing anything to try and fix what is obviously broken, then the US will rapidly decline and Russia / China will be rubbing their hands.

To a lot of non Americans it’s easy to dismiss either candidate, however the sheer numbers that voted for each, shows exactly how much the country is divided.

Then to say garbage like "I have a hunch it will disappear". That was ridiculous. Then to politicize which states got federal aid first because they were "Trump states" over need? Also, insane.

So whether he meant to call the Dems read of it a hoax, or the virus itself a hoax, is really irrelevant to how he handled it. That's another discussion.

FIRST... Let me make it CLEAR that I'm no great fan of Biden. Got that? However, ... at least he recognizes a few things and is taking a page from FDR's book. While the interior of this country, like bridges, roads, dams and rail structure deteriorate from lack of upkeep, it's the Repubs that are blocking the money to fix it.
