This guy is a rapist?

Question

Hi so this is kind of tricky. I threatened to go to the police over this guy who was forcing himself on girls... I posted something about him for his friends on my story.. not mentioning his name just for his friends. Should I actually go to the police about this? Or is he gonna try to sue me? And should I not go to the police?

Also I’m aware this can be considered libel, even if it was true... But I can counter sue him for harassing me on Twitter for two years for harassment.

1. You have told us absolutely nothing about the underlying facts but your title question is "this guy is a rapist?" HOW ON EARTH could we possibly answer that question with the dearth of information you provided?

2. Your information is second hand, unless you have witnessed these events in person. I suspect that the police will simply tell you to encourage the victims to come forward and report what has happened.

3. Whether your actions constitute libel is a legal question that you should leave to attorneys to answer.

4. If someone harassed you for two years on Twitter and you didn't block him, most people will conclude that you enjoyed the drama with him.

If you have reasonable suspicion it is fine to submit this to the police. Explain what you believe to be true, and explain how certain you are of which fact. That way there is nothing he can do. If he'd sue you for slander or anything then you can just say this is what you observed and that you went to the police so they can investigate the accuracy of your claims rather than slandering it publicly. Anyone would rule in your favor.

So don't just plaster his name online, you did a good move by keeping that out of it. But definitely tell the cops.

Who did he rape? Of course if he raped someone and you witnessed it or have compelling evidence, you should report it. You can't be sued if it's true.

If you have hard evidence he is raping females, you have a "Woman's Lib" obligation to report it. Not just for the Lib, but for the victims of this atrocious crime. At most the cops will say the evidence isn't solid enough to pursue charges with and drop them. Otherwise, they have a case. The only way he could sue you is if you were slandering his name in a vengeful manner. But before they even knocked on his door, they would decide if what you presented to them is strong enough for the D. A. to hold up in court, or if it is too weak to make a case with.

But I wouldn't worry about him suing you. Even if he did, where is his proof?

this is about the law...

if you're willing and ready to counter-sue, this means you know lawyers already or you're willing to hire them, so... you should do this first and foremost, they will be in the best position to know what to do with the exact information you have

police won't be able to do much, unless you have concrete and factual evidence for them to act upon it

"his friend told me he's a rapist" I don't think that will hold on any court, but I am no expert... so, contact the law in this case

You can go to the police and accuse all you like but the reality of the matter is this, If there is no evidence of this, and based on your comments and your question you dont have evidence, the most the people will do is take your information, and thats about it. As far as suing I am not sure he can, As far as you suing him, You can't over twitter harassment, not when you can simply block him.. Plus most states do not have harassment laws, Sexual harassment yes, but not general harassment laws. You can only sue or have him arrested if he actually does something to you.

The problem you face is evidence, without concrete evidence going to the police won't ultimately do any good as it'll be a he said/she said type deal presuming your friend is willing to speak to them. Unfortunately the more time that passes the less likely that anything can be done.

That said however you can get him for harassment based on what he's said to you on Twitter presuming you saved any messages or tweets he sent.

Go to the police, if only to make his life harder. He sounds like an asshole. However, I recommend getting some sort of proof, and a decent lawyer. Harassments cases are easy to prove though, so as long as you have some proof or a witness you'll be fine.

If you have evidence where he was harassing you and a bunch of other girls you could contact the local police and file a police report, they will search him on their data basis and he will receive a summons at the address on file a.. There has to be evidence that he is forcing himself on girls also if you fear for your life then you don't have to worry just tell the police you fear he will start forcing himself on you and make sure to get all the stuff you can get

If he's a threat... report him.
When the hell has a woman been in trouble for reporting a sexual assault or even a hazy unprovable sexual assault from 30 years ago?
Women are accusing of rape and then changing their stories and dropping the charges because they were made up and they never get in trouble.
So... if the guy is a threat, yes. Do whatever you can to report him.
You won't get in trouble.

Yes, anyone that harasses you can be taken to court or sued, you did what was right and if no one else sees it they are just blind. no man should be forcing himself on anyone.
