Shit happens. People are sensitive to coincidence. It's unlikely that you will encounter an acquaintance while on vacation abroad but likely enough that it will happen a couple of times in your life, more or less depending on how much you travel and who you know. If you have a large social circle of people who travel frequently, it can occur regularly.
