Before you do a knee jerk no think of the consequences. Obama weakened us so badly in the China sea that China now has superiority there and that’s where 25% of the worlds trade occurs. If Taiwan falls that gives China even more trade area control. Plus all administrations have assured Taiwan we will support them except Biden. Why would anyone believe anything he says? He said no American will be left behind in Afghanistan and he said none of our allies will be left behind. Do you believe him?

Taiwan ain't Hong Kong, Taiwan was an authoritarian, separatist shithole that undemocratically detached itself from China after a failed popular vote and violently suppressed the wishes of its people via martial law for decades.

To this day, only about 35-ish % of Taiwanese actually support independence from China.
So the more appropriate question is, well why shouldn't it fall to China?

Well that’s not true Chiang Kai-shek won the popular vote after Dr shun yet sen died in 1925 mao who didn’t like Chiang Kai-shek started the Chinese civil war which they were in the middle of when Japan invaded. The chinaese civil war continued until 1949 when mao captured Bajing and Chiang Kai-shek
fled to Taiwan and reestablished the PRC in Taiwan separating its self off from China. China didn’t like that and they swear they will retake its. But we have an agreement with Taiwan that if China ever fucked with them then we would attack China. So screw the CCP

Chiang Kai-shek was not "voted in" after the death of Sun Yat-sen, he was installed after a bloody coup he organized against the communists within the National Party which then, essentially, hand-picked its own assembly.
After expelling and suppressing the remainder of communists from the government, his own assembly attempted to elect Kai-shek as the president and abolish his presidential terms by 1947.

But, of course, by then the nationalists were hated by much of Chinese populace who saw Kai-shek as Japanese sympathizer responsible for millions of Chinese deaths.

Whether you like it or not, the Chinese people ARE communists, the Kuomintang lost horribly because they lost support of Chinese people and most of their soldiers defected to the other side.

Taiwan was nothing more than a piece of land usurped by a tiny government that lost support back at home and then went on to violently hold hostage and terrorize approximately 2 million mainlanders.
There were barely any Kuomintang supporters in Taiwan, it was mainly mainland Chinese who ended up getting executed and jailed by the military rule by the thousands.

Most of the Chinese did not support the CCP they supported the PRC it was maybe 10% of China that wanted to be communist but like Russia they started a civil war after loosing the election of 1948. And then proceeded to murder 60 million of its own people, Most of the Chinese people don’t support the CCP but most are to afraid to rebel against the government because they don’t want to get killed. I’ve had conversations with many people from China and they hate the CCP but they live in fear of speaking out because they know they would get killed.

Also Taiwan doesn’t rightfully belong to China anyway the Japanese controlled it way way longer then China, plus the people of Taiwan hate China and don’t trust them. The likelihood if Taiwan was taken over by China we would see 23.5 million people commit suicide. Much like we’re seeing in Hong Kong now.

As far as U. S foreign policy goes we shouldn’t be doing any business with China especially after Covid. We need to start treating them like we do North Korea
