Why won't he let me pay?

So last month I ate out with a guy I like and he paid the first time, even though I had money. Yesterday I ate lunch with him again and his friend. His friend ordered first and paid for his food. I was next in line and the guy I like stepped up to the counter with me before telling me to tell the lady what I wanted.

Then he ordered his food as I was taking out my money to pay. When I handed him my money, I told him I got it. He refused my money and batted my hand away. Okay, so this is for guys, do you do this with your friends that are girls?

Well I know that you said this is for guys but let me tell you what I think...Yes guys do do this for their friends(girls)..But not all the time. So this guy basically likes you but don't refuse his money..Because that pisses them off..I would know..So let him pay and don't act like if its a big deal. You could also test him. By shopping with him. If he buys you everything that you want then he definitely likes you!! I'm not saying that material things are important but this is just a test. Just do it once not more than once. So if you wanna find out if he will pay for everything then take him to the mall. Then see who ends up paying..GOOD LUCK!!

Thanks for the advice. I'll keep that in mind for future reference. but with this guy, he's just being nice. I know cause he only thinks of me as a friend. he said so himself. But thanks again. ^_^

I used to try to pay all the time too.. Until one day I went out with my guy friend and I tried to pay for myself when my friend was insisting that he paid.. so this lady looks at me and says.."girl you can be independent but don't be silly".. haha!! now if the guy offers to pay all the time.. I don't mind.. Most guys love to pay.. Just like the guy down there said.

Yes, I will do this, for friends, sometimes. But for female friends that I like I will do it more frequently.

But in your case, I'm sure that this guy likes you! And if it's a girl I'm dating or a girlfriend, or girl I like I will Always pay, no matter, how badly they insist! and trust me we like to do it, I know in my case I do.

Sometimes if the guy feels good that day he will, but it's mostly for girls they like. And he's done this 2 times so he will probably do it again which means he probably likes you.

I feel the same way, If I take a woman out, I will pay, If I am with her, I will pay, it could be for women that we like, but that is just my thought process, I think when you have just been out with someone or with them a few times, the guy should pay, after a few weeks of hanging out I see no reason why he would not let you pay your way
