What does the left hand represent in your culture?

In Assassin’s Creed it’s the preferred hand for the hidden blade, their signature weapon. I wondered if there’s any real significance for that hand.

I'm left handed myself - As other people have pointed out it represents sinister things - maybe that is why some people call me the devil - Or maybe it's because I mess with them - Or maybe because I'm a lefty I mess with them - Now that I've thought about it I don't think I know a left handed person that doesn't mess with people - Do you still play assassin's creed? Do you know why they say it represents sinister things? Because it comes from Latin. It literally means "on the left side." And through the centuries, it became villified because, then as now, people fear things that are different. And since right-handedness is more common, left was different. Which means people were afraid of it. So, sinister, which meant left, morphed into meaning "evil" or "bad" or other negative terms.

Not in my culture, but in my religion, anything done with the Left hand is considered bad luck. To put it another way; in my religion, angels stand on the right and devils stand on the Left. Therefore, food is eaten with the right hand, while the need for the toilet is satisfied with the Left hand. But this is nothing but a piece of crap to me. Yes, although I don't use my Left hand much (because I'm right-handed), I don't believe in nonsense. These are ignorant people's ways of deceiving themselves and those around them.

the left hand is supposed to represent evil and the right hand good. dont know why that came to be. In the movie jarhead the soldier was told not to wave to the arab men with the left hand because that was the hand used for wiping. I really couldnt tell you if any of this is true however.

Nothing really, although is used to be considered worse than right (children used to be forced to write with right hand, even if they were left handed). But it's not like this anymore. My sister is left-handed.
