The first man, chased Kyle from behind into a corner and lunged at him. Kyle turned around and shot him around 3 or 4 times quickly killing him.
Afterwards a mob chased him down the street, one man hit Kyle with a rock he was holding on the back of Kyle's head, the second guy jumped kick Kyle in the face while Kyle was on the ground, the 3rd guy swong a skate board across Kyle face and neck area hitting him then reached and touched Kyle's gun as trying to take it away then got shot and died.
Moreover the 4th man pulled out his gun at Kyle and Kyle shot him first in the arm severaly injuring him.
Keep in mind you have the benefit that you are not in a very hostile environment with violent people, heart rate is low and no one is chasing you to hurt you, while you are holding a loaded gun and both scenario happened in 2 to 3 seconds to decide your decision.
For those of you who think Kyle Rittenhouse is guilty, what you would have done differently if you were in the exact scenario as Kyle shot people?
I donāt know about technical legal guilt. My worry is that if he canāt be legally found guilty, this sets a VERY dangerous precedent for vigilante-ism. If you want to say āyou absolutely canāt have people riotingā, fine, but thatās a separate conversation. What you also absolutely cannot do is have citizens (aka random assholes who should not be trusted to make sound judgement calls) feeling empowered to just go out and shoot whoever the hell they feel like at any sort of provocation.
Rittenhouseās ācrimeā was being there. Again, I donāt know if thatās a technical crime, Iām just talking about the ethics of what he did, on a human level, not a legal level. It is absolutely imperative that we remember that 99-out-of-100 people are MAJOR LEAGUE idiots, so the less license we give people to make serious decisions, the better. Like I wish humans could be trusted with that power, but we simply arenāt collectively intelligent or decent enough for that. So I donāt like anything that empowers individuals to make judgement calls with serious repercussions, like killing someone. Again, legally speaking, itās all so hazy and tough to properly legislate, this is just more about the spirit of our general attitude in our society, not written laws, and I donāt want to live in a society where everyone is strapped and walking around like āI wish a motherfucker WOULDā¦.ā🤦āāļø🤦āāļø🤦āāļø

You forgot the most laughable part of the prosecutor's list of other possible actions Kyle could've taken. You forgot "fire a warning shot".
Boys and girls, never ever fire warning shots, unless you want to get stuck with a reckless endangerment charge. If and when you shoot, it's straight to center of mass and when you're in fear of imminent danger to your life and limb.
And in case it needs to be said, firing a shot intended to neutralize the threat and missing is not equivalent to firing a warning shot.
KYLE, literally had his mom drive him to that spot with a gun because he wanted to kill people and after he shot someone he called his friend to brag. How are you going to go to an area for the sole purpose of KILLING people and then yell out self defence after. That judge is going to let off Kyle and he's going to do the same exact thing. First of all I think the most criminal part of Kyles behavior was to put himself into that situation in the first place and not as much of what happened afterwards. That said I would probably not shoot my gun since I had very little reason to assume that they would pose a serious threat to my life. While getting beat up is not a nice experience its not like its the end of the world or that I am unlikely to have a full recovery within a relatively short amount of time as opposed to potentially kill people like Kyle did which I am sorry to say, is terminal.
That's a very stupid and naive perspective to have.
#1: The crowd proved to be very hostile and looking for trouble all night against the police and those who opposed them.
#2: You don't know those people nor their background and their intentions with mindset.
#3: Taking a beating can leave you permanently deaf, seriously permanently damaged eye or brain damaged with being kicked or punched hard in the head, eye or ears by a group of people.
#4: You're assuming and hoping they wouldn't take your gun and beat you with it or shoot you with it.
Reaching for someone's loaded gun is a clear Interpretation they are probably going to use it against you.
It's not a video game. You get shot in the wrong place, you're not coming back for good.
I provided a very sensible and logical perspective. The stupid and perhaps more importantly NAIVE part was getting caught in that situation in the first place while wielding a gun.
1: "Very hostile" crowds does not necessarily mean they are homicidal. There where no deaths either the days before or after this incident and this is normal at events like these. Deaths usually happens only when someone does something incredibly stupid such as what Kyle did hence why he was the only one to kill people.
2: Unknowns works both ways. You might as well have been instantly shot and killed by an unseen gun because you tried to defend yourself with your rifle. Not having a rifle or not firing the rifle have better odds at ending the encounter peacefully (minus perhaps getting beat up). The moment he opened fire he reduced his own chances of safety since if the crowd responded with the same level of violence as Kyle did then that would be lethal both ways.
3: Getting beat up is bad, could end up killing you or permanently injuring you. Kind of like shooting someone. Getting beat up has a MUCH lower risk however and quite frankly Kyle fucking deserved it at that point for being an idiot and putting the public at danger with his stupid stunt.
4: And you are hoping that someone in the crowd dont catch and beat you to death because you shoot at them or that they dont have a gun themselves to shoot back. Frankly I got better odds than you do.
This is indeed not a game. People dont usually kill each other even during moments of violence. Just because he reached for your gun does not mean he is going to use it against you, there is still a big mental gap between violence and murder.

@007kingifrit I am a realist. I believe in statistics. There are more things that would kill me if I fired my gun in that situation than would kill me if I dont. Pretty simple really. You are one of those emotional fools who think that just because you feel safe with a gun in your hand you think you actually ARE safe. You in fact do not hold your future in your hands, you are as much a victim of chance as anyone else.

Furthermore what they are counting is not the number of times guns was used to stop a crime but the number of times guns where brought up. Considering there are more guns than people in USA they are going to appear in reports all over the place but that says nothing about if they actually had an impact in stopping the crime in the first place.
the statistics being confusing does not in any way make them untrue. its an impossible topic to accurately measure. try again. even the lowest estimates are more than all gun deaths.

I live outside of Louisville, KY, where the Breonna Taylor riots happened last year. I avoided the downtown district and west end like they were plague-infested so as not to be in a position like that myself.
Kyle's parents live in Kenosha. He was temporarily somewhere else in Illinois. It was a homecoming. Those shops were his friends and neighbors. His true kin. You may as well say he was a local. Just one of many to be targeted.

But to add to yours: if Kyle was a former police cadet and able to obtain firearms, then why wouldn't other means of defending himself be available? Pepper spray is readily available in most markets. Other hand-to-hand and weapon retention techniques exist. Police usually carry more than just firearms. Even at the January 6th riot, despite the thousands of rioters, only one person got shot. Police used other means to try to avoid killing people. Why wouldn't Kyle think of outfitting himself differently? He obviously knew what he was potentially going in to since he went in visibly armed.
