Someone gave him a firearm when it's not legal for him to have one. That person should be responsible for the mishandling of their gun.
He used that gun in self defense, back to the ground while being assaulted with prominent deadly intent. He'd then promptly surrendered himself into police custody. A guilty verdict on this case would be an affront to everyone's right to self-defense and their own safety in public. It announces that if you are supporting the right cause, you may attack whomever you so desire without fear of consequence.
@exitseven It wasn't necessrily supposed to be legal, the law as written was written with restriction on gun barrel length. That will be changed.
@lightbulb27 I did not hear that but I did hear the charge was dropped because of the length of the barrel
@exitseven not positive of the source on it, I listen to various channels to get diff perspectives and some I don't trust... most I don't trust. But it's what I heard... the barrel was too long to be considered under the law. It's wisconsin... cheeseheads ya know...
100% legal for him to have and be in possession of that rifle. Stop being fake news.
@joeldalton
Wisconsin Chapter 468 948.60 Possession of a dangerous weapon by a person under 18.
I see this as a violation where the incident occurred, but there are waivers I need not explore. If you have more accurate information please let us know.
docs.legis.wisconsin.gov/statutes/statutes/948/60
The defense successfully argued that the statue, as written does not include the AR-15 because of its barrel length.
According to Wisconsin state statues he is covered by the right to self defense.

I'm center-leaning; let him free.
LITERALLY the only reason he's even on trial is because this is racially motivated and the far left want to punish him for being a white male. Just like they did Derek Chauvin. Which is insane.
I haven't been following any of this, because after the ridiculous Chauvin trial verdict, I just don't want to hear any more negative news. I'm so sick of negativity. I suspect they will try to "make an example" out of Rittenhouse and threaten and harass the jury like they did in the Chauvin trial, and no matter how innocent or not-guilty he may be, the jury will be harassed and intimidated to vote guilty, no matter what. I suspect that is coming, and I'm dreading it. A country where terrorist pieces of shit like Black Lives Matter can sway your entire freedom and the courts.
IF he is found to be innocent, then I'll be happy. But I'm not counting on it, after the Chauvin verdict. So I've been avoiding following this news. This is the first time I'm even commenting on it, in fact. But yeah, he 100% should be let go. It was clearly self-defense and this trial is clearly race-baiting, politically motivated horseshit.
could you clarify the ridiculous Chauvin verdict? Do you mean he should have gone free or something else?
would you be more "libertarian minded"?
this is the issue I see and you noted it... the thinking is divided along political lines.. I fear. so what you get in the jury matters. That makes it risky to live in an area where it is dominated by people who don't think as a given person does.
Bible: the knowledge of good and evil. ones good is another's evil. So true.
Chauvin should've gotten a lesser charge; maybe involuntary manslaughter, and done like a year in prison, in addition to the time served, up to that point. He didn't "murder" George Floyd; that dude died of a drug overdose, and everyone knows it. The jury in that trial were harassed and threatened, and so was the judge. That's literal terrorism. That's how bad the far-left, or rather the ones controlling them, have ruined the United States. Where you can destroy someone who spent their life serving the people, all to push some bullshit, made-up agenda of "racism. in America" It's fucking insane how long they've let this clown show go on. Their childish games are getting people locked up in prison, in addition to all those that those BLM pieces of shit killed. My worse fear is that the Rittenhouse trial will end up being the same bullshit, and the Chauvin verdict wasn't just a one time travesty of injustice.
No, I'm not a libertarian. I don't like libertarianism at all. I can't afford my own private police force or fire department.
Active shooter. Murderer. High school drop out. Out after curfew. In an area he was not supposed to be. Not guarding a car dealership which he said he was supposed to be doing. Having a disgusting misogynistic screen name. Shooting at people who tried to take down an active shooter. Poster boy for Nazis of amerikkka. If he was black he would already be dead.
Interesting.
I thought he was guarding a dealership... lost me there...
Not so sure about the color point, but I'm glad people shot were similar color.
Seems to be people on both sides of the verdict and I don't see that as color dividing line. There is something else going on in how people perceive right/wrong, good and bad.
that's what I wanted... difference of viewpoints.
hit the nail on the head of the difference in thinking between the two groups. I doubt a single person will change their minds...
He reveals what I think is the root difference at 23:20+ and what side he's on. I wonder if there's 2 sides in this country... the cop was "just" in shooting J Blake or he wasn't... and rittenhouse votes fall the same. It is mind twisting some "AA's" see this as race... that they couldn't do what he did and get away with it. Thus, it's about power. what a mess. "the knowledge of good and evil". This was helpful: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VpTW2AJE9MQ
Peace
Obviously he was protecting himself... If you're aggressive, you're not running and only shooting when people catch up to you and are trying to wrestle your gun away.
Sadly, I don't have faith in the American justice system anymore after Chauvin, so I wouldn't be surprised if he was found guilty.
It just shows that if you are on the side of the righteous, you need to take justice into your own hands instead of trusting your fellow Americans.
I‘d give him ten years in prison, just for being a dumbass. That might send a signal to other parents not to let your underage children out to play Judge Dredd with an assault rifle.
I still say guilty. Jail him but considering his age and whatnot give him a light sentence.
It doesn't matter that he was defending himself. The protest wasn't happening where he lived he had no business being at the protest. Let's call this what it is. A young man who did something very stupid. To find him innocent would be to condian what he did. A couple people are dead because of his really stupid mistake. He needs to learn that's not OK.
Not with that KKK judge.
point valid that the lesson here is... is it ok to take up arms to guard yours/or anothers property and defend. that is the driver for the engagement... there was no order for the riots that were destroying property. it is not clear to me why rioters wanted to take out a car dealership because J. Blake was shot by police... but not everything is rational. maybe because it was a symbol of wealth they didn't have.
Riots have always happened in history. It’s up to the government to make things better so they don’t happen. Little fascist like Kyle only made it worse.
I agree with your point @lightbulb27 but did he call the police and say his dealership was being threatened. That would have been the first course of action. I've read that he was in some COP program I dunno if he aspired to be a Cop or if it was some sort of reserve cop program but he isn't/wasn't a cop. And I think he took his rights as a private citizen too far. I have to agree with @chefpapichulo it's the goat's job to maintain order. I say a gun is a last resort to protect himself. This is why businesses have insurance.
Like I say it's a bad deal all around. I don't think he did this out of bloodlust. I think he did something very stupid. That's why I'd give him a light sentence. No good will come from locking him up the rest of his life. But the message needs to be sent to both him and society that what he did was WRONG. To do otherwise tells the world that we approve of vigilantes.
give him 25 to life. so more little fascist like him dont pop up.
If he was an adult I'd absolutely say jail him but that's not the case. But I don't see it as a binary choice, in the UK he would probably be put on probation and tagged, and made to attend anger management or some such bullshit. Only the US sends little kids to adult jail.
You guys let kids who kill people on the street go to anger management?
@ChefPapiChulo They'd be sent to a secure centre, not an adult jail.
He’s an adult now.
@ChefPapiChulo But he wasn't when he committed the alleged offence.
he was basically an adult by a few months. you can be charged as an adult when you're that close to being one. what you said is stupid.
@ChefPapiChulo That doesn't make sense. He was charged with committing a crime as a minor.
He was 17. He’s being tried as an adult.
@ChefPapiChulo Exactly. Which was the point of my comment.
Never should have been a murder trial. He may have broken other laws but those were justifiable uses of force
He went there with the intention of helping, not harming anyone. He acted in self defense and is therefore innocent. He should get a medal.
The adult that got him the gun and Kyle should do massive community service for disobeying the gun laws but the shootings were in self defense so he should be acquitted.
that most closely aligns with how I think. I'd caveat community service in that given the votes out here, he just might get in trouble.
@exitseven I like how you think...😉
If it was actually self defense I would send him to jail for manslaughter because at the end of the day even if it was self defense he shouldn’t have been there and he certainly shouldn’t have gone with an automatic weapon.
AR-15
Yeah semi-automatic but like I said he shouldn’t have gone with a weapon
This is a pretty big difference. Handguns & Rifles are mostly all semi-automatic. An AR15 is no different in this regard.
(1) It is legal to go with a weapon in the USA.
(2) In a lawless zone where police is not enforcing the law, how do you propose a person should defend themselves if need be?
(3) Kyle was attacked, despite having a gun. What if he didn't have it?
You can attribute the attack to him having a gun, but then why didn't the other armed people get attacked? (Other than the fact that they were in groups and not alone)
(4) Even if we say Kyle shouldn't have gone there with a weapon, so too should there not have been hundreds of rioters who were destroying cars, throwing rocks at police, starting fires, etc. To single out Kyle as the only guy who made an unwise decision is strange. None of the people shot should have been there either. But they all were, as was Kyle. Being all there, they shouldn't have attacked a visibly armed person.
I am a Constitutionalist and believe in court procedure. Kyle is Not Guilty.
Self defense plain and simple. I think he showed a great deal of restraint.
He's punished enough already with his hairstyle and by being forced to wear a necktie.
I believe in the rule of law, so he should be found not guilty of all charges.
I lean to the Far Left, but not liberal (yes, we exist). Set him free. He acted in self-defense.
Stupid ass bot
@ChefPapiChulo Okay, ChefIncel.
surprised, interesting.
@ChefPapiChulo You know if being ugly was a crime, you would get life?
@888theGreat LMAO look in the mirror you little bitch.
No because I would done the same thing if them crazy white folks came on my property
what if they were crazy, but not white? or is that an oxy moron?
DO NOT pass GO. GO straight to jail! FOREVER! NO PAROLE! LOSE DAF KEY!!!
The Prosecution did not come close to showing him guilty. He will be found Not-Guilt.
Absolutely not. Was a clear case of self-defense.
pls vote if you wish.
Centrist, Kyle should fry.
The evidence shows that it was self defence.
He should receive at least 20 years.
High degree of skill? You people are nuts.
yep, how I see it. no stray bullets wounding or killing. only shot people who attacked him, while under high stress and threat. unreal. he's very under control emotionally.
That’s the conclusion you draw? He missed bullets from close range on one person. While they were attempting to disarm him after he murdered someone.
disarm him with a skateboard to the head, kick to the head? I can see the nature of mis communication between him and the others... e. g. he was running to get out and turn in, they thought he was escaping.
Your perspective if I understand it is... those who tried to arrest him were heroes and he was the villian. Is that right?
better than what kyle did which was disarm people of their lives.
Manslaughter. Maybe negligent.
I would give him a medal
Set him free.
Judge not
if you are on the jury you are required to.
Correct. If you are on a jury. With all the instruction you get on how to do it. Or not. You end up in the room, not wildly speculating.
yes, i would
