In my country, people love the military and troops, it is very holy. If a soldier die for the country, he is a martyr and there is a big mourning in the country. It has also something to do with nationalism, religion and patriotism.

As an American I have a love hate relationship with the military. I value them but at the same time they recruit from low income neighborhoods and cities and it disproportionately impact minority community. Also we spend way too much money on military budget and not enough in other crucial sectors like climate change, social issues (education, homelessness, wages) Can you believe Sonic (fast food restaurant) can pay people 3.25$ an hour because they make tips? Not to mention housing prices are ridiculous, a good house not built in the 1940/s can run you 300,000 USD+ depending on where you live.

Generally yes, but people who pay attention to what goes on at the top aren't too happy with the senior or political leadership.
