For the people claiming "racism," you need to understand first the definition of racism before you go tossing it around. Racism is: prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against a person or people on the basis of their membership in a particular racial or ethnic group, typically one that is a minority or marginalized.
This is far from racism for a company to actually want to support black owned businesses. I mean why would any black owned business sign up if the company were being racist towards them?!? That wouldn't make much sense reality wise or business wise.
But having said that...we all know what this is. In business there is NO SUCH THING as charity or caring or kindness. Everything is done in order to make money, and NEVER forget that. With everything currently going on in the world, these companies are taking full advantage of what they in marketing meetings consider "hype" around the black community. They market this way to show the world how "in touch" they are, how "woke" they are, and if any situation goes wrong with POCS and their company, they can say the equivalent of "....but we have a black friend," aka, we are helping 'their' communities businesses. If it's working and getting more sales for the company, they will continue to market this category, if not, I guarantee, in five years or less, you won't see it anymore if the profit/and or media attention isn't there.

Honestly I don't have an opinion because I don't trust my own. I'd lean on the opinion of someone older. This older black guy said something once and I was so surprised that I couldn't see what he saw. He explained it so well. People often form opinions before they should. Like one 51 year old dude is talking to some 15 year old girl about this topic in the comments. He is looking for confirmation that he is correct but doing so in all the wrong places. Of course he will find what he is looking for because it will take it from anyone. Even a 15 year old. Just keep an open mind. You might be wrong and close minds get left behind. We cannot see the truth sometimes.
never heard of it, probably not.
If people want to identify their business as something and are proud of that, then so be it. Maybe some will gain inspiration from that, since so many seem to be down on their luck, that's their freedom of choice, freedom of speech. Is it good... don't know... people make choices and maybe that's a determinant for some. Liberals love these topics to segment people.
We have veteran owned, veteran owned businesses, which motivates some to shop there.
We have chinese and jewish controlled businesses... I'll bet they won't advertise that.
I'm sure some people want to selectively give favor to "black owned". ok.
I used to love going God Father's pizza. I enjoyed the pizza and salad combo which got me out of H. S. food, was heaven to me at that time. A tall man, with 8 fingers and 2 thumbs owned it, and good for him he did a good job and became wealthy.

1. Sounds discriminatory to me but not surprised that Google would do such a thing.
2. Imagine Google allowing you to shop only white-owned businesses, Christian-owner businesses, or male-owned businesses!
3. How do they identify black-owned businesses? Is this accomplished via self-reporting by businesses? Isn't this kinda like letting junior high school boys say they identify as girls so they can go in the girls' restroom?

No. This is such pandering discriminatory BS. I'm black and I'd actually AVOID any businesses that tried to sell themselves like this. The same way I would for anyone else. What TF does your skin color have to do with how good of a business you are? And I bet you all of these people promoting this are white and unwilling to give up their positions of power to "help black businesses."
I'm so sick of this blatantly disgusting, racist as f*ck garbage! Damn, am I the only one sick of them pushing these false crap about racism and sexism? As with many things it helps to switch the words around and then see how they sound.
E. g. male to female etc.
So 'White owned'.
Exclusively managed and run by males.
No, its not a good look, if it doesn't sound right for all colours shapes and sizes then its as bad as the worst of them.
This store is run by the KKK, experts in white clothing since 1865.Yeah and now people will start raising buisness on racial terms making shop colonies certain parts were only you will get black owned stuff then brown and white.
Then it will be divided according to religion.
In the last every one will be fucked 🤣We have women owned businesses and they get special tax breaks and get special grants. Just like native American owned businesses.
Not saying they should get special stuff, but I'm not against giving grants and stuff to small owned businesses. Support family and small owned businesses. 👍👍If I see that mentioned on a shop when I'm searching on google, I'll avoid that shop, simply put.
I go where I find the best value for money, not because the owner is a certain color.
I'll never condone that kind of racial discrimination bullshit.Only if there was a "white owned" option. THAT would be racist.
But then you know what would be targeted first in a riot. That’s one way to exploit black racist. Just make a shop selling whatever and transfer wealth from the Black community to whoever wants to exploit their stupidity.
Completely backwards. This is the kind of thing that was supposed to have been done away with in 1960s.
Yes. Like casinos for the native Americans this gives injections of wealth into depreciated communities. If you have doubts, just think of it as payback for the Tulsa Race Riots where “black Wall Street” was burnt to the ground out of white jealousy.
It's completely racist, but what the hell, I'm for it.
If white supremacy is widespread like they say, this will tell people where not to shop. It’s racism.
I think it's great, it shows pride in the black community.
However I'm White so to show my pride I only shop at White owned businesses that employ beautiful Asian women. There’s nothing wrong with it. People like to buy from black businesses to support us. Its absolutely nothing wrong with it at all.
Is THIS SHIT REAL? TELL ME IT AIN"T. God damn it, usually I might *** GOD, this ain't the time for it. God damn it to all fucking hell.
any time I see something that smells like social justice I don't enable it by shopping there. Happy to shop at a block/woman owned business unless they pull some racist shit like this.
As long as other socio- economic groups are represented as well.
Not really , reverse racism , and Etsy has this too. I don't think Ebay does. Amazon might.
It’s a great feature for racists so they know which businesses to avoid.
I don't think they're forcing anyone to shop anywhere?
Only if they put an option for republican owned businesses as well
