Nearly half of Republicans distrust Science…. Why?

It's the vaxers who don't trust real science. Those who are pushing the shot withhold information, falsify statics, and censor any information that doesn't support their narrative. They tell people to trust THE science, but there is no such thing as THE science. Science is based on questioning, researching and debating. When differing views are censored, it's not science.
Many people see what's going on. In fact, it's obvious that none of this crap was every about human health.
Even doctors are just following orders. They can lose their jobs and even their licenses for diverging from the protocols or even speaking out.
I think it's ironic how those many Democrats who blindly obey orders and believe whatever the party says project their blind attitudes on anyone who doesn't agree with them. They merely parrot what they hear in mainstream media. Their reasons for supporting totalitarian "emergency measures" and mandatory shots are based on party partisanship, not informed opinion.
As a former Democrat, I'll say that the Democratic party has become the party of totalitarianism. As one who always considered himself to be a strong liberal, I'll say that I no longer want to be associated with what so-called liberalism has become even though it's not my values that have changed. And I quit consuming twenty years ago because I realized that it was a unified propaganda echo chamber that is designed to manufacture consensus. It's all owned by 5 or 6 mega-corporations who have incestuous relationships with each other and are controlled by the same few major stock holders, primarily Goldman Sachs and Blackrock. They are all quietly pushing the Great Reset/New World Order/One World Government agenda.
Yeah, many Republicans are stupid and guided by partisan politics, too. But the majority of people who refuse comply with immoral, unconstitutional coercion are just simply smart and informed. That includes people across the political and ideological spectrum. They see where this road is leading.
When people riot coast to coast all summer in 2020, and don’t social distance, and spit on police and then I’m told that the uptick in Covid cases that summer was strictly due to the Sturgis bike rally in middle of nowhere in South Dakota and this can be scientifically proven…. makes the “science” a little hard to trust.
I guess when we’re told that masks don’t help stop the spread of Covid and were forced to wear them anyway by law in many places and the ones I wear at work say right on the box that they don’t protect from Covid but we have to wear them anyway to stop the spread of Covid…I guess at that point I have questions.
When you need me to get a vaccine so your vaccine can work…again, questions.
When we lock down entire nations or major parts of them to “flatten the curve,” but yet Covid has still spread globally and new variants are popping up all the time I have to ask…does this work and is it necessary?
When the people who make the vaccines are immune from law suits and prosecution and made certain to get that in writing…. but I’m told the vaccine is perfectly safe…. I have to ask, why is it necessary for those companies to obtain such an agreement? After all, it’s perfectly safe. Safe enough to force nearly everyone to take. Have they no faith in their product?
When the one of the worlds largest virology labs is where the epicenter of the pandemic is located, and it’s in a totalitarian country where such things are poorly managed and controlled. And SARS was also proven to have escaped from a lab in the same country around 2004, which no one disputes, and then I’m told the disease causing the pandemic originated at a wet market…sorry, I got questions.
I’m assuming your question is in relation to Covid. I don’t mistrust science. I don’t think most Republicans or conservatives do either. What I do think is that there are a lot of things that don’t seem to square up. A lot of things that look like manipulation and lies. So, maybe it’s more I and we don’t believe the information we’re being given and don’t trust those who are giving it to us.
Because liberals state theory as fact :
1) Global Warming is still a theory (weak one too)
2) Evolution is still a theory (missing link has never been found) Show me a Half fish/half frog.
3) Guns shooting people on their own (sorry Alec Baldwin, that is impossible)
4) Sex with a male is always rape.(Nope)
5) Homosexuals are born that way (not proven)
6) That a Fetus is a blob of tissue to justify murder
7) God doesn't exist (No way the world exists by an accident) Accidents are not that detailed.
Now Liberals think Bible was made up by one man that was bored and their were no witnesses. We think that way about Mainstream media. They just make it all up with no witnesses and made up sources. Now we can prove lies made by media, you liberals really can't about the bible. You can hope they are lies and you can just say they are lies, but you can't prove they are lies.
Oh this will be so much fun!!!
1) scientific theories are facts, with a consensus
2) see #1…and look up so called “Darwin fish fossil”
3) cars don’t kill people. Should we stop licensing people?
4) no one remotely says this.
5) hard to prove either way…but I believe someone when they tell their truth
6) fetus doesn’t matter, it’s bodily autonomy. Like the govt can’t demand you donate blood.
7) can’t prove god either way. But absence of evidence is evidence of absence. Also false dichotomy: it’s not God or accident. The universe is the way it is because it is.
Bible was made up by a group of people selling a religion to sheep. And there were no eye witnesses to Jesus.
1) The average over-night temperature in North America has risen 3f in the past 50 years, which is exactly what you'd expect if the theory of man-made global warming were exactly correct.
2) It's been found. It's called "Tiktalik" Google it.
3) agree
4) agree
5) they are not at all born that way.
6) I hate abortion
7) It's more complicated than that. The Book of Kings has a story in which the original Law of Moses was lost to time, and one of the Priests supposedly "Found" a copy of the Book of Deuteronomy in the Temple still after a 40-something years apostacy had happened. What's more likely the case is someone WROTE the Book of Deuteronomy at the beginning of King Josiah's reign. Some of the Prophets contradict one another, and the entire New Testament contradicts the Old Testament.
I believe in God, but it's best not to trust the Bible. Just SEEK THE LORD for yourself.
Bible is loaded with witnesses that saw Jesus. Book after Book. You are a fool. People saw him die on cross (Roman records) and people saw him after he had risen from grave. He told them not to touch him yet , then later showed holes in arms to Thomas because he doubted anyone could die and comeback to life.
@Bidensucks2020 Fake news! Bible authors never saw Jesus. It was written 30-40 years after he died.
@Wade12345 I don't use Tictok. Temperatures rise so many years and then lower so many years. Has nothing to do with man. Most high temperature rates were in 1800's with hardly no world population , few factories, and no cars. So quit with your bull shit.
Nope Peter was with him in garden , cut Roman Guards ear off trying to take Jesus. Jesus picked it up and put it back on him. In the Bible. All the disciples saw him, talked to him, and walked with him. Read the bible next time before you flap your gums. You have never read the bible.
If sea levels rise like you say California , Florida, and Maine would be under water. Keep having illusions
False. The 1800's was still part of a time period called "The Little Ice Age" in which winters were so cold the Mississippi River regularly froze over all the way into Louisiana. The year 1816 was actually so cold it was called "The Year Without a Summer" and over 1 million Russians and God only knows how many Americans starved to death that year due to famine caused by the Tambora Volcano eruption. The Mississippi River has not frozen over again since the winters of 1912 and 1915, due to MAN MADE GLOBAL WARMING.
The animal's name is called "Tiktalik". I didn't say tictoc.
@Wade12345 you’re a smart theist, I’ll give you that.
You both will end up burning in hell
@Wade12345 I think this is a troll. There’s a make bidensucks too. But still it’s fun to debate.
@Wade12345 like if they found a Spider-Man comic 1000 years from now and had proof NY existed, doesn’t mean spider man was real.
Look, human evolution is real. I believe in The True Creator God, but his method of creation of life on this planet is in fact Evolution, not "Magic pixie dust". Google "Lucy" and "Eve". One of those fossils is around 2.5 million years old, and the other is around 3.7 million years old, IIRC. One of them has a loincloth and a wooden spear with a stone tip. It is an adult human being woman, and its only about 3 feet tall.
I saw a lecture by a Catholic biologist, and he was like, "I'm a Roman Catholic and I believe in God, and the evidence I just presented to you is so solid that the only way human evolution could not be true is if God himself was deceiving the scientists." Which of course he doesn't believe God is deceiving the scientists. Satan did not make the fossil record. Everything that exists was Created by God, not the devil.
@Wade12345 I think I saw you with Odd Ball in your mouth
Global Average Sea level rises about 2.5 inches per decade presently, and the rate of rise is accelerating rapidly. Sea level is projected to rise about 3 feet or so by the year 2100. Sea level has risen so much along the Florida Coast that King Tides are flooding streets that used to not get flooded. The way ocean currents work, the western Atlantic rises faster than most other Ocean basins in the world.
@OddBeMe
A better way to approach this question is thinking about what aspect of people makes them republican. For most people it is one of two things:
1. Republicans distrust big government. Since they distrust big institutions put in place by the government, republicans are more likely to distrust federally instituted scientific establishments. Now does this mean that they distrust science itself? I doubt it. I think most people, republican or democrat agree on science regarding apolitical things like the science of gravity for example.
2. Republicans are religious. The other thing outside of distrusting big government is that a section of republicans are Christian. A section (not all) of Christians believe in a literal interpretation of the Bible, meaning that they probably won't believe in man's evolution from primates, and might believe that the earth is younger than is recorded. So the fact that these people vote republican it means a larger number of people in that party who don't believe in certain scientific facts.
But does this mean that republicans are dumb? No. In fact when comparing the IQ of both groups, republicans scored higher. Whether or not people believe in "the science" does not determine how true of false it is. It is also not true that science requires consensus. Before Copernicus there was a consensus around an earth-centric universe. A few years ago we had a scientific consensus that gayness was a mental illness and that smoking isn't bad. Science is about who has the better proof, not who has the most people supporting them.
Yeah but even though people may have seen Christ Christ still isn't the Creator maybe people seen them die on the cross but he still not the Creator and anything that anybody wrote has been perverted by all the people who copied it since you can only find God within I don't even want to say God because my creator wouldn't make me warship my Creator would want me to know right from wrong because that's inherent
@cutiepatootie26 they distrust big organizations…like churches?
@Seangreen Christ was God in man form
God is not a man. A man is a Created thing. God cannot die because he is not a biological life form. God is not a mechanical or dynamical system of lesser beings or lesser components.
God does not have a physical body, because God created Physics. He cannot be a man, and he cannot become a man. He is The Creator. He is not a Creation.
God is a Singular Being. He is not a Trinity of lesser beings either. He's not exactly a "Singularity" either, but you might think of Him as being the Ultimate White Hole of sorts if that helps you get the picture.
Yeah. Most republicans I have met do not attend churches run by the state. They trust private enterprises and most of them go to small, locally run churches and not megachurches.
@Wade12345 Jesus Christ is both man and God. Before Christ was born, God has taken form of things which he creates. He has come in the form of flames in a burning bush. He has come in the form of a still small voice. He has come in the figure of a man who wrestled Israel. And therefore God can become man and it is fitting that he does so because man is not just a creation of God but a reflection of his creator... We are made in the image of God.
@cutiepatootie26
I don't believe in the Book of Genesis. It's been proven false from one cover to the other cover. Literally the only true statement in the Book of Genesis is the first sentence, "In the Beginning God..." The rest of the Book never happened. You can't put two of every animal on Earth on Noah's Ark, much less the needed 50-something of every animal needed to have a stable genetically diverse population. The story of Jacob and Esau is complete nonsense. Why would God bless Jacob for deceiving his father, but not bless Esau, who obeyed his father? Why would God cause a repentant Jacob to then walk with a limp? Elsewhere, your Bible authors state that God does not do evil, and "Every good and perfect Gift comes from the Father of Light..." So the rest of the Bible disagrees with Genesis.
The Old Testament says four times "God is not a man" and in the Law of Moses, Moses was told by God that he was not allowed to see God's form. IN the prophets, when God appears as a humanoid, that is a metaphor. God is not a human nor has he ever become a human. God is infinite, so it is not possible for him to be finite. Therefore he cannot become a man and die on the cross. Even if God did choose to die, who the HELL would then resurrect God from the dead? Dead is Dead. If God died on the cross, in order to actually qualify as "Dead" He would need to go to Sheol and be POWERLESS just like everyone else there. Who supposedly raised God from the dead while he was supposedly dead and powerless? Don't be ignorant. Either God was alive, in which case he never died, or he was dead. If he was dead, he'd still be dead, and we'd all be screwed. If He gave up immortality, he could not magically become immortal again after dying on the cross.
@Bidensucks2020 Girl, good job holding the front. I don't know why people are out to get Christians. Its like they think we're all stupid or something when the entire civilization they exist on literally was built by people who confessed Christ. Everything we take for granted including the idea of human rights and liberties comes from philosophy derived from Christianity. Today's new-age transhumanist philosophy that atheists call morality is nothing but good ol' Christianity minus Christ. The greatest geniuses in modern history from Newton to Beethoven to Shakespeare to Kant to the founding fathers all considered themselves Christian. Brainiacs of today think they are so much better, so much smarter than these people smh. If you want to be atheist, cool that is fine with me. If you are struggling with who God is, that is also fine. But I really don't understand the readiness to come at other people's faiths, it seems so insecure to me.
@Wade12345 You don't understand the book of Genesis. The Bible isn't a book you read like any other book. The first chapter has different meanings the more you understood the rest of the Bible. Genesis is the first revelation of man's conception of God. God is light, which brought forth life from the darkness. In creating the world, God spoke things into existence and therefore we are introduced to the Word of God, the aspect of God which gives life to things. That Word which said "let there be light" is the same Word which, in the gospel of John , is made flesh in Christ, and it is the reason why Jesus says "before Abraham was, I am." Then there is the spirit of God, which in Genesis 'hovered over the deep'. That spirit is the Holy spirit, which hovered over Christ in his baptism.
Genesis is the first of a series of revelations about God (there are many revelations including the story of Abraham, a father ready to sacrifice his son but instead sacrificing a blemish-less lamb) which reflect and prophesize Christ's birth, life, death and resurrection. As far as Christ's dying, the only reason someone would believe that God cannot die is if they believe that death is not just a progression into another life. Death does not end the spirit, and therefore the death of God did not end God, it simply removed God from the realm of earth and took him to the realm of the dead, where he freed those who were held captive by death. In believing in Christ, one accepts that he will not suffer death, not because he will not face his own mortality, but because his spirit has found life and will not die consumed in sin which brings forth spiritual death.
All of these things are not immediately understood if you don't have faith and if you don't truly understand the Bible but are reading to find fault in it. I wish you luck. I think its good that you at least recognize that there is a God, some will scorn even that.
@cutiepatootie26
lol. I was a "Born Again" Christian and was a Christian for the first 36 years of my life. I have read every book in the Old Testament at least 3 times, and have read the entire New Testament probably 100 times or more. I have read two entire volumes of Bible commentaries. I used to spend all my time on Christian forums debating doctrine with other Christians.
You don't understand the Bible. lol.
I'm not a Christian now. Also, Christians did not write the Declaration fo Independence. All but two fo the signers of the Declaration were Deists, not Christians. Thomas Jefferson, who wrote the Declaration, rejected the Bible and said it was mostly useless, but had a few useful "gems" in it.
Jesus is not God and cannot be God. Jesus did not meet the requirements to be a Rabbi in Israel. He had no formal education in the Law, neither did any of his disciples or apostles except Paul of Tarsus. Jesus even mis-quoted the Law a couple times in the Gospels. In order to be a Rabbi in Israel you had to complete education through 12 years old, including memorizing the entire Torah word for word. If you passed this first level of education, you then went on to memorize the Prophets word for word. Even then, you could not be in any official role of teaching or leadership until you were 50 years old. Jesus was not fifty years old, so he did not qualify to be a Tribal Leader or Priest either. Jesus cannot be a Priest in Israel anyway, because only Levites are allowed to be Priests, not the tribe of Judah.
@Wade12345 Good for you. I am an Orthodox Christian whose lineage has confessed the same Christian faith since the year 300 and whose ancestors before that confessed Orthodox Judaism. I can tell you, however much you want to think those 36 years makes you an expert on doctrine, you are not more of an expert than 2000 years of people spending their lives meditating on it. Based on what you've written so far it is clear that your understanding of the Bible is lacking.
Anyways, good luck in your journey.
@cutiepatootie26
No. I perfectly understand the Bible. That's why I reject it. It is not the Infallible and Inspired "Word of God". Many times it's flat out not true at all.
Example, DNA evidence shows both modern Jews and Palestinians have been the same people dwelling in the Land of Canaan for nearly 10,000 years. So they cannot be descended from any alleged Abraham and Sarah from Ur of the Chaldeans, supposedly around 2000 BCE. There are two cities in the ancient world named Ur of the Chaldeans. One is in present day Iraq and the other one is in present day China. The Jews and Palestinians are not directly related to the Iraqis nor the Chinese.
Example 2:
China has been continuously populated by the same people for over 200,000 years. The Bible claims the first man and woman were created about 6750 years ago.
Example 3:
There is no evidence that any alleged race of half-angel giant humans ever existed. The Bible claims half-angel Giants existed in three time periods: Before the alleged flood (which never happened either*), a few hundred years after the alleged flood through the time of Joshua, and again during the time of David. Archaeologists have dug up the entire middle-east and never found any giant skeletons other than whale carcasses. Archaeologists have never found the remains of the alleged cities of Sodom and Gomorrah either, even though Genesis tells you exactly what valley they supposedly lie in.
I aced Physical Geology in College, and there is no evidence of any alleged world-wide flood in the Geological Record nor the Fossil Record.
@Seangreen how do you know Christ isn’t god? You are absolutely sure?
@Wade12345 I hope you find peace in that. I will just say, I read what you wrote and nothing there changed my belief in the slightest. Empiricism is one form of truth but it is not all truth and it is not infallible. I could research alternative facts to the 'evidence' you provided and suddenly things would not be quite so certain. The fundamental truth of God is found in experience, it requires faith, not rational proofs. But if you have no faith then no amount of empiricism can prove Him to you, and the least amount of empiricism will make you skeptical.
@Wade12345 It is going to be worse for you. Believer then denier.
@Wade12345 I remind you Hell is forever and I would change my ways if I was you
@Wade12345 nope one way to heaven , knowing Jesus is the son of god. You deny knowing Jesus , Jesus will deny knowing you and you will be cast into hell.
@Wade12345 The saddest thing about what you are saying is that it, again, comes from a deep misunderstanding of the Bible. The term faith and work as they are used in the Bible are not defined well by the English conception of "belief" being synonymous with faith and "worldly actions" being synonymous for work. The real description of the words places no true distinction between them. The closest one can come to understanding what is meant by "work" is the English saying "an act of faith". When prophets say "work without faith is dead", they are saying that those who attempt to perform acts of faith without inward faith have no reward. You can take the example of Cain in this regard. Cain did work but did not exhibit faith because what he was doing was a show rather than an inward love of God. By learning that Abel's gift (which was created with love of God) is accepted while Cain's gift (which was unfaithful) is not accepted, we can see that the concept of faith and work is well understood by Judaism before it is introduced in the New Testament.
In Judaism and in early Christianity, there is no split between the concept of faith and work and both occur simultaneously-- one is simply the source and the other the vessel.
There's a number of reasons
1. A scientist was wrong once. Science once said the earth was flat so they can't be trusted.
2. Scientists don't always agree with each other so they must be wrong
3. Scientists keep changing their minds, they once said the earth round but now we know it's flat.
4. Scientists went to university, those are communist brainwash camps.
5. My mummy and daddy told me what's right and wrong, no scientist can change that.
Opinion
62Opinion
i don't think they distrust science. i think they don't understand science. i think what they actually distrust is media and politics that claim to use "science" to legitimate decisions. and rightfully so, because historically, government has never used science to help people. it has always missused science to legitimate atrocities.
i mean you shouldn't "trust" science. you should read it and think for yourself and compare with other publications as well as checking for conflicts of interest. just taking a source that says a certain thing and calling that "science" (which is what the media and politics do) is not at all what science is.
when the government says "we want to help you", you can be 100% sure that they do not want to help you. they want to push you to agree with stuff that certain interestgroups paid politicians to propagate. i don't know why this is suddenly a novelty "conspiratory" thought. it has always been that way.
right and left wing are both bad. i would say equally bad. being in the center, considering both sides is the best standpoint for the vast majority of people. which isn't gonna be possible in a society that becomes more and more polarized. if you're not hardcore left, they call you a trump fan. if you're not hardcore right, they call you antifa. society becomes more bullshit by the day.
i won't get into an argument about that, cause i don't regularly watch either right wing or left wing American media.
however from what little i do see, they're both equally full of shit and fake news.
yeah well. as i said. the problem isn't "science". if you hear "science" mentioned in any "normative" aspect, you should see that normative aspect as separate from science, cause science is never normative and always just discriptive. if you consider that, then you can very easily separate propaganda from science.
being anti vaxx is dumb. but being for the covid vaccine is horribly dumb if you're under 60. that's not consiracy or bullshit. calling people who are against the covid vaccine "anti vaxxers" is moronic propaganda.
if government tells you to do something that earns them money, they don't have your interest in mind. consider that.
Part of being a right-winger is concluding that your own thoughts and ideas and "research" are as good or better than anyone else's, and you will be damned if you will let anyone else tell you anything even if they are trying to help you. You are always right, and you never, ever admit to making mistakes or apologize. You are an expert on all things, and nobody else knows more than you do. You never ask for or need help.
This is why, among other things, you are "self-reliant", have no sympathy or empathy for others (they are "weak"), and don't go to doctors unless you are half-dead and all your "home remedies" have failed and your wife is insisting. You measure success in others by how much money they have, and the more money they have, the more credible you think they are. You think the government is unnecessary and evil unless it works to help you make money. You think that cooperation with others is communism, and taxation is theft. You trust almost nobody.
People like those I have described, and there are many of them, don't believe that vaccines can keep them from being ill, and worry that vaccines are just another way that others are plotting to injure and/or kill them, or even worse, take their money or their guns. There is absolutely NO way to change their minds about these things and many of them would rather die than be vaccinated - literally.
Forgot to add this description of many right-wingers: "The Dunning-Kruger effect is a type of cognitive bias in which people believe that they are smarter and more capable than they really are. Essentially, low ability people do not possess the skills needed to recognize their own incompetence."
This started in the 1980s with the "reagan coalition" ... which was dumb arse backwards hillbilly rednecks and Rockefeller republican high finance smart arse dumb fks from NYC. This was a winning hand for decades. And the Rockefeller boys knew they could only maintain the coalition by manufacturing a bunch more dumb bunny hillbillies. So all the kids I grew up with followed exactly what their TeeVee told them to do. Be dumb. Stay drunk. Watch sports. Abuse your family. Go in to debt. Bark and yap like a stupid puppy dog in to your old age for Mr Charlie. Worked like a charm didn't it. It was so effective it manufactured millions of brain dead Nazis that scared the Rockefeller Republicans so bad that they switched to that old white supremacist jackass Biden.
My guess is the Republicans are in deep sh*t. But don't tell them that, because according to them, they're always right and can never be wrong about anything. Classic Narcissist Personality Disorder NPD on a mass societal scale.
The best President ever
@Bidensucks2020 Most racist, shameless tap dancing whore for rich people ever.
I think it’s a human reaction to respond negatively when an entire subset of people become inflammatory towards ones values. The party of science (a. k. a the Democrats) constantly belittle the sheer existence of Republicans. I personally believe the objection is geared towards a defense mechanism rather than a finite stance against science. It’s emotional rather than logical.
Also, I personal question the validity of the Democratic marketing slogan of science when I see such subjection in what’s factual and not. An example is the concept of multiple genders. What we also fail to realize is that science is fluid and therefore forever changing. The Democrats don’t have a patent on science.
It’s easy to subscribe masses of people to a particular ideology when the subject matter is complex. The barrier to entry is high considering most people don’t understand the facts behind what’s being conveyed. So they listen to others that seem to know what they are talking about. Most people are captured towards a particular narrative by emotion. Media networks are great at this. I see this in economics a lot.
Your posts are solely jabs are Republicans. It’s as if your entire identity is surrounded by this. It’s easy to get caught up in the rabbit hole, but this honestly doesn’t seem healthy. You’re going to render yourself absent to critical thought if you keep going down this trajectory.
@msc545 You people? I don’t have any blind devotion towards any side. I put an effort to think independently and it just so happens that most of my views align closer to the modern Republican persuasion… So that’s how I vote. Almost all of my views are based on fiscal policy. I really try and practice objectivity and ambiguity, and that’s why I keep my focus on economics and financial markets. There are numbers and clear logic I can attach to an idea. The cheerleading in this season of political division is honestly an annoyance to me. If the Biden administration enacted what I’d consider more effective policy, then I would have gladly voted. Most Republicans I know are what some people might consider classical liberals. JFK style Democrats. I’m more on board with that. I think the Republican Party has a large range of political theology just as the Democratic Party does. I mean you got the religious authoritative types and then the libertarian types on the right. You got Joe Manchin, and then AOC on the left. That’s a big a range.
That's kind of biggoted to impose that on people you don't know. Most of the distrust from republicans or conservatives is literally directly linked to Faucci or the mainstream media who have been consistently wrong and inconsistent about Covid. Faucci has contradicted himself and lied on too many occasions and is directly responsible for COVID-19 existing. A lot of distrust of the media is also based on how they politicized the entire pandemic with covering up or censoring any information that contradicts what they put out, covering for Faucci, being against vaccines until Biden was President, denial of natural immunity, openly slandering people who use alternative treatment to a vaccine like Joe Rogan, advocating for vaccine mandates for COVID even though that's never been before for far worse diseases, creating slanderous terms like antivaxxers despite the fact that most people are up to date on their shots and just refusing the Covid shot because there's no liability for any side effects on the manufacturers, and flip flopping on the topic and betraying the trust of people who do take the vaccines. There's a lot to doubt and part of science is actually inquiring and challenging was is known to expand your knowledge on it.
So you don't even keep up with what's going on and you have the nerve to judge people. I don't watch right wing media either because it has the same problems I mentioned before. Stop judging people and try forming your own opinions it'll help you out a lot.
You don't keep up with anything from the looks of it
There's literally an entire list I provided already if you actually read what I said you could look into it yourself like a functioning adult instead of pretending to be informed or interested in science
Okay prove it
Fauci was never against the vaxx
www.usatoday.com/.../
“ there is no scientific evidence that any of these alternative remedies can prevent or cure COVID-19.”
www.nccih.nih.gov/.../covid-19-and-alternative-treatments-what-you-need-to-know
So it took you all this time to come up with 2 things that I never said. I said the media was against the vaccine until Biden was elected not Faucci. Faucci was just wrong and inconsistent about masks and other information regarding Covid. Also your second link is literally from a site that's owned by Faucci and even still there's literally evidence to the contrary with Joe Rogans recovery and countless other people receiving alternative treatments instead of the vaccine. Once again it's really hypocritical to say I'm biased to sources that I don't use while you literally only rely on biased sources with different takes.
So you're just going to pretend that there was no vaccine criticism from Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, most celebrities, CNN, MSNBC, and other "reliable" news sources you're just proving my point that you're just pretending to be interested in science and current events you don't even watch the sources you claim tell the truth. Once again I don't watch right wing media and you're making baseless assumptions again you don't know if I'm vaccinated or not and guess what I'm vaccinated because it was mandatory when I was in the service. So please stop talking while you're still behind you're just embarrassing yourself.
Projecting your insecurities hasn't done you any good in this conversation and won't at any other point in this conversation. You're still talking about stuff you don't even know about, the criticism wasn't about it's effectiveness as a vaccine the criticism was that it's "Trump's" vaccine and that's why they wouldn't take it maybe you should actually do research before you start talking.
Projecting your insecurities is doing nothing for you if you're so offended by being wrong you should probably just educate yourself instead of calling people names. You have shown numerous times that you don't pay attention to science or the politics of any side maybe if you were actually intelligent and weren't spoon fed your opinions you'd have better comebacks than snowflake or saying irrelevant nonsense. I'm done exposing you have a nice day.
because science has been politicized, And made for forward a left wing agenda, for example there was a study that was berried by brown university that subjected that rapid onset gender dysphoria is more of a result of there piers and societal pressure to transition when it peer groups that has caused the up tick in cases we’ve seen over the last few year and it’s not genetic, but because it “ promotes bigotry“. They Barry the study. There are more examples but this is why we don’t trust science anymore and Fauci says he’s the science and we definitely don’t trust him with our lives
“Anthony Fauci, President Joe Biden’s chief medical adviser and the longtime head of the National Institute of Allergies and Infectious Diseases, keeps saying that his critics are “really criticizing science because I represent science.” Maybe he even believes it. But it might be time for science to find another spokesman“
www.washingtonpost.com/.../...ab0e23b7e_story.html
It’s basically him saying if you criticize me your criticizing science because he is the science, when other scientists have said masks don’t protect you again Covid even doctors who treat Covid like Dr Marty Makary who basically has said everything Fauci has said is wrong, If the consensus of scientist don’t agree with Fauci there anti science, there no other way of interpreting that he thinks he is science
True but when we see politicians relies on 2 scientists when ignoring the others people start distrusting the science, It’s something that shouldn’t be politicized but Democratic have been doing it for years, Even in the 1980s they said we have 12 years to fix the climate, Al gore used science to try to put radical chance in the economy and New York would be underwater by 2015 now there saying another 12 when is it going to end?
The entire point of science is to be able to question it, and have the other person answer your question satisfactorily. Yet social media giants are forbidding the questioning of said "science." Fauci said questioning him was questioning science.
That's not science. That's religion.
To be clear, I very much like science. But what's going on isn't science. It's some sort of weird new religion.
As to why I don't trust my doctor, I don't know them. It's not like they come to my house for dinner or play golf with them. Meanwhile, they go to dinner, chat on the phone, and play golf with pharmaceutical representatives (aka lobbyists).
That's not what Fauci said, though. He said he represents science (to his detractors). The detractors are attacking science through him, and it's working. He wasn't saying he's the embodiment of science or that he's infallible.
"“To me, that’s unbelievably bad, because all I want to do is save people’s lives. And anybody who’s looking at this carefully realizes that there’s a distinct anti-science flavor to this. So if they get up and criticize science, nobody’s going to know what they’re talking about. But if they get up and aim their bullets at Tony Fauci, well, people can recognize there’s a person there.”
“So it’s easy to criticize,” he added. “But they’re really criticizing science, because I represent science. That’s dangerous. To me, that’s more dangerous than the slings and the arrows that get thrown at me. And if you damage science, you are doing something very detrimental to society long after I leave.”"
www.mediaite.com/.../
I saw it. He equated criticizing him to criticizing science.
Here’s the full quote from the scourge itself:
mobile.twitter.com/.../1465003501541597191
First of all, a poll doesn't mean shit.
Second of all, people SHOULD be skeptical of science. That's what science is all about. The day that people are not skeptical about science is the day that real science no longer exists.
In my life I've seen LOTS of things that were supposedly true, but later turned out not to be true. In some cases it turned out to be the opposite of what scientists were originally saying.
OK, let's look at your question. You are making broad statements as if they are true. "Nearly half of Republivans distrust science". Is this statement scientific? Nope, not even close.
Because science isn't some hivemind. Different scientists often come to quite different conclusions in their studies. "Trusting the science" essentially means to blindly follow a cognitive dissonance.
Or do you mean trusting the science means just following the public figures? Because that is not "the science", but a specific part of it.
And last but not least - peer review and modern science is very flawed and very corrupted at this point. While there are many very good and genuine scientists, there are definitely more than a handful corrupt ones.
The consensus comes from peer reviews. There have been studies about peer reviews how more than a third of studies results can't be recreated. Like it or not, science isn't perfect nor infallible.
Every war needs its civillians to carry on the peace after the war is over, memories sheltered by remaining isolated from the experience. The one war - the War - that we are all fighting is the War against that beautiful horrifying (genderless) bitch called Nature. And scientists are the ones who are on the front lines of this War.
But then scientists started getting paid a lot for it so the civilians wanted in. Sadly, they weren't equipped with the sort of knowledge that could be useful to scientific advancement so they turned to the knowledge they do have: religion and right wing misinformation. It upsets them that none of their magical thinking is helping in the effort to beat back nature and so they instead try to beat back scientists.
"Science." Democrats lie about science all the time. They deny all the deaths and vaccine injuries from the covid vaccines. When posting links to it (actual death of someone I personally knew that was killed by the first Pfizer shot) and my aunt getting sick from the second shot, it gets removed and it is claimed to be "misinformation."
Plenty of doctors are untrustworthy. They give out prescriptions and try to push certain drugs for profits. Many of them don't care about their patient's actual health, only what profit they can make.
When science is a political tool, makes people not trust it. Truth is if the vaccine was 100% safe, Biden would of removed the legal protections preventing lawsuits from serious side effects.
Keep in mind Trump actually put those legal protections in, therefore since Biden has tried to undo everything Trump did, why did he not undo this?
Since he has not removed that, it means it isn't actually as safe as they say.
They don’t distrust science, they’re sceptical because scientists and scientific results can be bought.
There are many examples of this.
Big tobacco paid scientists and doctors to speak favourably about cigarettes. In the past doctors were prescribing cigarettes to patients claiming that they were good for the lungs.
Manufacturers of formula milk paid them so that they’d claim that formula is better and more healthy than breast milk.
The sugar industry paid scientists to blame fat for the health issues caused by sugar.
Plenty of other examples, big oil, big tobacco, big pharma etc.
Pfizer, J&J, Moderna, all have been fined in the past for bribing and lying. Pfizer being the heaviest fined/worst of the three.
All of that has truth in it, but it's still no excuse for distrusting a lot of other science that doesn't involve "profit", especially when you rely on science everyday in most anything else you do. I think it's those same 50% who believe in Trump, and actually believe he knows something about science too. LOL
@loveslongnails
This involves profit.
G@G? Not much from its participants.
@loveslongnails
No I mean the “science” behind the vaccines.
I mean let's be honest.
All their leaders are claiming education and science are a conspiracy to brain wash them into being a left winger.
It seems they been trying to keep their voters uneducated and believe whatever they say.
Ya think it's working?🤔
Ironically they’re not wrong. Education makes you more liberal.
Reading some of these answers, it's amazing how people can assume they know what an entire group of people are thinking, and be so off the mark. I can't say why some people distrust science, I can't speak for them. I'm sure this is about the vaccine. Not getting the vaccine was a decision I came to with my doctor.
Unless you're allergic to the vaccine, you need to find a new doctor.
I caught Covid TWICE before the vaccine was released, so I had natural antibodies to it, yet my doctor told me to take the vaccine anyway. He's the best doctor within driving distance of my home state. All the ER doctors and other physicians in the area call him when they don't know how to diagnose or advise a patient. He's a "Diagnostician". That's what Gregory House is supposed to be doing on television, but House is a crank.
You do NOT want to catch Covid. I got very sick from it both times I caught it. It was two of the four sickest times in my entire life. My mother got so sick from Covid she was hospitalized and given anti-body injections, and most of her hair fell out from the stress on her body.
Most of the people dying from Covid now are unvaccinated science deniers.
@Wade12345 I had covid... it was like a cold, nothing more. I was sick for a whole 2 days, and not down at all. You made the decision you felt was right for you, please don't presume to tell me what's right for me.
@Wade12345 I think I'll trust my doctor and not some random guy online. Mind your business.
@Wade12345 Let me start by saying that I took the vaccine - So I ain't biased against it nor for it - I genuinely don't care if someone takes it or not - But assuming that covid is one of the worst things that could ever happen to you is a joke - I had it literally a year ago I only felt bad for a couple of days (9th and 10th day) other days I worked out I did everything normally - the only reason why I stayed home is so I don't give it to other people - Or look at Kevin Durant when he got the dude said 2 days later that he wishes he'd be allowed to play because he easily can - People who have trouble with it are either unfortunate or have predisposed physiological/health problems
Also the only reason I took it was specifically because people were so afraid of it - some dudes literally were telling me their dicks went back after taking it - I told myself this stupid little injection can't do shit to me.. My balls are too big.. Which is why I went and did it
@Wade12345 You must get a cold every week
@Wade12345 did you see the vaccine adverse reaction reports that had to be released by court order for freedom of Information Act and then you want to talk about it just if you're allergic fuck off
Every human reaches a point where they have been lied to, up to the point, where they don't believe anything. Good luck on your journey. And I might observe that half of the democrats don't understand wealth creation and don't understand that what the government is doing now is fraud. We used to issue treasury debt into the public market and people would use accumulated wealth to buy it. Now we issue debt and the Federal Reserve buys the debt and prints money. It is a house of cards and will fail.
We don't distrust science we distrust large companies trying to sling their bullshit on us and the government trying to strong arm us into it.
And I dont care if the vaccine is safe and effective which frankly we don't have enough data to determine on the MRNA vaccines. The government does not have the right to force a medical procedure onto anyone. How whould you like it if the government forced you to get a vasectomy or your tubes tied. Your setting a precedent with this vaccine mandate shit that will enable them to do that to you.
Because they're authoritarians and have been told to distrust science for the last couple of generations.
That, and they're dying to own the libs.

People really get the wrong idea about the whole "question science" thing. Sure, you can question science, but you have to do it from a place of knowledge; you have to know what the science is talking about and how and why it reached the current position.
Questioning evolution is pointless, because the essential truth of it has been established over the last 150 years, with more and more evidence backing it up.
Questioning the role of carbon dioxide in heating the atmosphere is pointless, because the mechanism was discovered in the 19th century.
Questioning germ theory is pointless, because it's been around since the 19th century (displacing the miasma theory popular in Europe in that century). We can now "see" them and pull the little blighters apart into their component molecules.
None of this is to say that there aren't questions around the edges of science, but you have to understand the basics before you can expect your questioning to move things forward. Otherwise, you're just a distraction.
Tell me you don't understand what the word "authoritarian" means without telling me you don't understand what the word "authoritarian" means.
bahahaha... oh jeez... this is doublespeak that would make Orwell blush.
It is not authoritarian for a government to protect its citizens from companies trampling the citizen's rights.
Dipshit. Not having a mandate doesn't preclude anyone from wearing a mask.
@joeldalton Dipshit, it's not about a mandate, it's about Republican governors taking rights they don't agree with from businesses and towns. Authoritarian. You should not have the right to enter a business without following their rules; taking away that business' right to set the rules is authoritarian. Asking for masks in the middle of a pandemic is far more reasonable than insisting on a shirt or tie.
No, if a business is infringing on my freedoms, then the government has the right to step in and prevent them from doing so. Just like if McDonalds decides to require a shot passport, my governor put a quick stop to that bullshit.
@joeldalton You don't have the freedom not to wear a shirt in most (or trousers in almost all) restaurants. How are businesses who demand masks restricting your freedoms any more than that? The government making businesses *not* to do things that protect their workers and customers is clearly more authoritarian than making them do those things for the general welfare. What's next? Forcing bakers *not* to serve gay people or Jews?
I have the right to breathe freely. Period. A company forcing me to put on a muzzle is restricting that right.
@joeldalton You don't have to go into that business, same as if you didn't want to wear a tie. You have freedom of speech, but a business is allowed to throw you out if you're insulting people. Forcing a business *not* to protect their workers and customers is taking away their right to run the business as they will. Authoritarian.
That sort of thing has also resulted in nearly 450 deaths per million more since June 2020 in states with Republican governors than in the other states. That's more Americans than died in Vietnam.
The stores in the states without mandates can put masks on their employees. If you don’t want to go into a store where some people don’t wear masks, you don’t have to do that, either. You seem to forget that not wearing a mask that restricts your breathing is the natural state. you REALLY forget that you libs were pissing down your legs because women in Muslim countries have to cover their faces for years.
@joeldalton Ah, so we've moved on to lying about what I'm saying. Republican governors have told businesses that they're *not allowed* to require customers to wear masks to protect their employees and other customers. That's both authoritarian and stupid.
Republican states have allowed 67,000 preventable Americans deaths. Just for political reasons. I know they were preventable, because that's the difference in deaths since June 2020, when it was apparent what worked. Republicans went with ignoring the science. Nearly 35,000 of those excess deaths have been since the beginning of July this year, when everybody had had a chance to get vaccinated.
Yes, we will always move on, because you are bullshitting with numbers to make a political point. As always you don’t give a flying fuck about the people who have died. You’re cynically using deaths for political points. And you can fuck right off about it. You don’t give a rat’s fart about keeping people healthy. You want to flex your unearned importance as someone who “cares”
@goaded - please stop with the doublespeak. I know you're doing it, and you know I know you're doing it. It's not going to work on anyone.
So where does a private company have the right to impede on my right to breathe freely? What are their credentials to decide healthcare decisions for me? And we're not talking about real hazards like toxic fumes. We're talking about your local grocery store.
@joeldalton Doublespeak? This from someone who's been lying about masks and vaccines and lockdowns for more than a year and says that I don't care about people's lives?
"No shirt, no service." Sound familiar? Businesses have a right to set rules about who's allowed into their premises. They also have a duty to take reasonable steps to ensure the safety of their employees and customers. Some Republican governors have chosen to *stop* businesses (and local governments) from doing so. That's authoritarian.
Besides, nobody's dragging you into their stores.
By the way, the crazy states that force people not to follow the federal government or CDC guidelines are these: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, and Utah
www.aarp.org/.../...avirus-state-restrictions.html
One of them has a Democratic governor, but his veto to the foolishness was overridden by the Republican legislature.
Looking at total deaths per million in those states, it's 2,583 to 1,930 in the rest. That's practically 75,000 unnecessary deaths. To score political points.
No one's dragging you into stores where people don't wear masks, either. So STFU. If you cared about people's health, you wouldn't support hospitals firing doctors and nurses "literally in the middle of a pandemic". Seems a teensy bit counterintuitive, doesn't it?
Who at your local McDonald's is qualified to give you health advice? What are their qualifications to pass a mask requirement?
@joeldalton Keep trying to twist things from authoritarian Republicans blocking people from following the experts' guidelines, why don't you?
If a store's owner or a county or municipality wants to follow CDC guidelines to save lives by requiring masks/tests/vaccinations, they should be allowed (encouraged) to do so. Some crazy states have *taken away* their right to do so. Not to mention the rights of those 75,000 people who are no longer breathing at all because their state's Republican politicians wanted to score political points.
The sane states have almost exactly the death rate of the EU (1,922), whose countries also followed the science (and made some mistakes). The extra 75,000 American dead are down to their states' Republican leaders.
Oh, so it's not a private business making a decision. It's a private business under coercion from the federal government making these decisions. Glad you were able to clarify. So let's try this again, this is government strongarming businesses into following their guidance. And the good governors are protecting their citizens from this government overreach.
I understand... I mean those girls who sucked Harvey Weinstein's dick weren't "forced". They just wouldn't get jobs if they didn't. They totally did it on their own accord.
You ready for your 4th booster, dope?
www.cnbc.com/.../...oses-sooner-than-expected.html
lmao. I'm not using the dead for my cynical political goals. Let's not forget I know what you're all about.
@joeldalton No, you just don't give a damn about how many people die in order to own the libs for political gain. Nor do your favorite authoritarian leaders. They didn't even just leave it up to municipalities, counties or businesses, they actively stopped them from protecting people.
lmao. You don't give a flying fuck about all the children whose lives you destroyed by advocating lockdowns and masks. So shove your sanctimonious bullshit up your ass. No one believes you.
Cost/Benefits of lockdowns
@joeldalton That image contains almost no information. The cost of a human life is generally put at about $10 million. 75,000 Americans needlessly died in the crazy states that outlawed enforcement or implementation of federal mandates.
www.npr.org/.../episode-991-lives-vs-the-economy
Then you need to read the studies referenced other than NPR's propaganada
@joeldalton Ah, yes, the "Fake News" defence. I notice you've not once challenged the numbers I've given, because you're either completely scientifically illiterate, or you know damn well I can back them up. Probably both. Authoritarian Republicans have caused the deaths of around 75,000 Americans by actively preventing people from following scientific advice.
Your numbers are bullshit and I’ve debunked them before so shove them up your ass.
Yup, your cherry-picked numbers.. shove them up your ass.
I’d rather watch you foam at the mouth over deaths you pretend to care about.
Lol, no, I’m rejecting your authoritarian (true meaning of the word) horseshit based on weak science to “protect” people from a virus with a 99% survival rate. And I’m telling you that you don’t give a flying rats ass about this virus or people getting sick. You only care about exercising control over people.
I’m going off the CDC’s numbers. Remember them? You love to crow all the bullshit they spew. The same CDC that has ZERO record of any person who recovered from covid spreading it to others.
@joeldalton No you weren't, you were going off one person's numbers. Professor John P. A. Ioannidis of Stanford University, California.
principia-scientific.com/.../
No, from the CDC’s site. Quit your bullshitting.
@joeldalton Not really. You see, I have this thing called a memory. Why don't you find me an archive page of the CDC that says what you say it said? Oh, and I also have search engines that show you saying the fatality rate is "about.05%" (165,000 Americans) How can Sweden never shut down their country but only 6,000 people there die while the United States was shutdown everything but many more people die? ↗ And that you explicitly linked to the guy I said you did: 🤔 Can any LEFT WINGER tell me the difference? ↗ (plus your classic "US will be at herd immunity by May")

We’d have herd immunity if those shots weren’t so shitty. You. Are correct, I was stupid to believe fauci when he said they’re 90% effective at preventing transmission. At 30% effective, your only hope for herd immunity is everyone getting the disease.
@joeldalton Wow, you actually posted some evidence for once! Shame it doesn't come close to backing up what you said (99.85% survival).
So, now you're upset that vaccines might only save 95% of the lives of people that catch the virus and not provide full immunity (which the US will probably never know because of the ridiculously low rates of vaccination, mostly because of lies like yours)?
That's clearly a good reason not to have them.
People like me? Dumb fuck, I’m more immune than you are. Let’s remember, yet again, the CDC has ZERO record of any person who recovered from covid getting and spreading covid to someone else. Your shots can’t come close to making the same claim.
60% of the us is vaccinated. 15% of the country has gotten covid and recovered. (Wow, 85% of the country hasn’t gotten covid). And that 15% doesn’t include these big scary asymptomatic folks who didn’t know they had covid and recovered. If the shots pulled their weight we’d have herd immunity. But we know how leaky they are. We know they’re spurring the variants.
We also know that you’re now scared of a variant that has no recorded hospitalizations and death and is classified as having “very mild” symptoms.
@joeldalton You will insist on calling anyone who's willing to take some basic precautions in order to save lives "scared". Are you scared if you look both ways before crossing a road?
Everybody can see you don't care about anyone except yourself. Yes, you recovered from covid, 5.3 million people did not.
Lets say the other 85% of the country have to get covid to be as wonderfully immune as you are. Why don't you think it would be better if reaching that point resulted in deaths in the tens or even hundreds of thousands rather than in the millions? "It's not perfect, so it's not worth doing" is a stupid attitude.
"We know [vaccines are] spurring the variants."
At this point, I'd usually ask if you're really that stupid, but the jury is in.
@goaded weird that the media is even turning against your BS
www.theatlantic.com/.../
Let's try this again. YOU can do whatever you feel is necessary to keep yourself safe. I look both ways before crossing the road. What I don't do is force you to do it every time I want to cross the road. You can wear 6 masks, a buttplug with fauci's face on it and ski goggles behind a face shield in a hazmat suit.
@joeldalton Of course you're only concerned about yourself. Why didn't you answer whether it's better to have 100,000 more deaths or 2,000,000? Is it because other people don't count at all?
Let's not forget that you're the one saying that states preventing counties, municipalities and businesses protecting they people they serve from infection or death is not authoritarian. Those policies have led to tens of thousands of unnecessary deaths.
And that Atlantic article? "Unvaccinated Americans will certainly pay the steepest price in the months to come, but the risks appear to have grown for everyone." Well, duh. It's hardly supporting your dumb positions.
Here's some more: "... two vaccine doses alone *might* still allow for frequent breakthrough infections and rapid spread of the disease—even if hospitalization and death remain *unlikely*. Getting three shots, or two shots plus a previous bout of COVID, seems to offer more protection."
Yes, you're responsible for keeping yourself safe. Radical concept.
oh FFS, stop being an idiot. A virus is a force of nature. You're responsible for keeping yourself safe from it. Period.
@joeldalton FFS, moron, normal people have always worked together in pandemics because that's the best way to keep the most people alive.
That's being proven by Republican authoritarians doing precicely the opposite, with deadly results. Or do Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, and Utah have anything in common not found in any other state, other than authoritarian Republican leadership?
Are you going to answer the question of whether 2,000,000 more deaths is a worse thing than 100,000, now?
Yeah, We'll work together. You take care of you, I'll take care of me, and together we're both being safe. That's working together.
WATCH OUT FOR OMNICRON!
War is peace, freedom is slavery
Science is continuous study and learning, its not always 100% accurate and is often manipulated by large Corporations for long-term financial security.
I am fully vaccinated and believe it was necessary, but I also believe adults should be free to choose vaccination and not be forced.
Because it’s been politicized. As soon as someone says the science is settled they break the first rule of science. The entire Covid pandemic I’ve been following people who the mainstream media label as “anti-science” and they’ve been months ahead of the government “experts” Every. Single. Time. It’s far beyond dumb luck. If some dude on YouTube knows better than the entire Covid response teams of most countries, we’re in trouble.
I'm with you one hundred percent on your statement there I've been a month ahead of everybody by listening to a doctor who only presents data nothing else not an opinion not anything but the data and I've been a month ahead of everybody and I also had covid before it was even in this country and I know it was because of the symptoms and I ain't putting no alien DNA in my body I'll tell you that much
@Seangreen yes but the equation to measure gravity g=GM/r2 is fact
Because they would rather believe their local, mostly self-appointed, representative of Christ-on-a-stick, than people with a scientific education and occupation.
If you have the proper humor, watch the movie "Religulous", by and with Bill Maher. But be forewarned! :-)
What do you mean what is causing this? In some people's minds, science, physics, facts, truth, etc. should support their political goals. So if they find some scientific research does not support their political arguments, they choose their politics over fact.
In today's society, everything is political. Vaccines, the law of gravity, economics, infrastructure, climate change, choosing coke over pepsi. . .
For some folks, their politics is their reality.
Your question is biased, and I believe you intentionally did that. Where in this poll does it say half of Republucans distrust science? Rather, it mentions that some Republicans, those who are skeptical of the vaccine, which is a minority, may not trust their doctor. You know, as far as the SARS2 virus and COVID go, science is still being discovered, and there are some people, Democrats as well as Republicans, that may be skeptical.
I’m quoting recent studies…
www.forbes.com/.../?sh=32f33ff716da
Because they think all Doctors are just weird lizard creatures trying to infect them with mind control through a vaccine.
Then on a whole they distrust science cause the facts goes ageist their beliefs and the refuse to accept facts that go ageist what they personally think no matter how much proof stacks up for the facts..
Well that statistic might be true, I don't know, but I think anyone could distrust science at some specific statements or experiment, after all no one has the full truth, there are exceptions to every rule. But yeah, someone who doesn't trust in science as a whole it's really a case worth studying.
I guess hard religious roots and lack of education are the key.
Firstly it's only a poll - never read too much into polls.
Secondly, republicans tend to be batshit crazy as a qualification. So never let them surprise you with how stupid one can get. You just saw the other day with a republican and family posing with guns as a "Santa" gesture despite a school shooting being in the news.
For me it's because the media and left only take one side of science. The side of Lord Fauci. Lord Fauci has been a fuck up for 40yrs. Contrary to what you're being told, there are scientists as well as medical experts that don't agree with most of what Fauci says. Why do you distrust them?
I'm an independent, and I don't trust "the science" on this one because I knew a good deal about immunology and virology before covid. They're lying to you, plain and simple.
You don't trust science. You trust "the science" that satisfies your confirmation bias, and you're only trash-talking people who don't believe "the science" because of your superiority bias. You don't even the science of the issue, you only know what you've been told.
Most science is funded by the government and You can pay anyone to give you any results that you want.
Like claiming the world is coming to an end from global warming and saying you can save the planet if we just had more research dollars allocated.
It's a scam, it's all about extorting taxpayer dollars.
Maybe because the recent scientific discovories are against the general belief of the republican party.
So instead admiting they are wrong they refuse to aknowledge science.
As usual, you've propagandized this. They distrust POLITICIZED science, i. e., Democratic Party talking points masquerading as "science".
Religion. Conservatism and Evangelical Christianity have been wrapped up together since the 70s and this anti science worldview has been stewing for years.
Maybe bc "science" is just a blanket term to constantly move the goal posts and justify tyranny. It's the fucking common cold with a survival rate of 99%... biggest hoax perpetrated on American public in history 🤡🤡
Your premise claims they distrust "science". All science? Electric theory? How about physics. Maybe some people believe their doctor is owned by big pharma or government regulators.
The simple answer is that the GOP has become a party in the hands of religious groups in very particular evangelical ones and they are anti-science.
In other places we see the same dynamics with different religions, but the gist does not change.
Science used to be about questioning everything. Now it’s not.
They don't distrust science - it is the source of that science that they distrust it is people like Fauci who swing with the political wind, telling those in power what he thinks they want to hear
Right how many lies is he up to now. Don't wear a mask, then wear a mask, then wear two masks , then one shot, then two shots, then 3 shots , then 10 shots.
Science isn't static it's dynamic. There used to be something called race science. Should we still go with that?
Yeah but what happened before it was disproved in all it's always just a theory and I don't think Republicans don't look at science I think the problem is just too many people are too quick to say "because science" and they think they win the argument because they heard some guy on TV in the lab coat say something. We all know electrons exist but it's still called the electron Theory we all know germs cause disease but it's still called The Germ Theory because it hasn't been proven 100% a might be 99.9999 but until they can prove every word or something it's still a theory
You mean by science anything Fauci says? Then yes I distrust that. Why does he contradict the CDC and admit to lying and you still believe him without even looking for other sources of information?
Its on both sides of the isle. There are a significant number of people who simply do not believe science in general.
Honestly as a republican I can tell you we Dont have a problem with science, we have a problem with political actors like fauci telling people he is the science.
Because half of them are liars and the other half are idiots.
Just keep believing everything the media tells you, sheep. You are only allowed to hear the science that has been approved for you to hear. You're on a need to know basis.
Because they can and questioning science is how science remains up to date. If that wasn't the case, then we wouldn't have the scientific method because then science would be objective truth.
Did you hear they invented the machine gun? Wonders of innovation, this will surely stop the bloodshed of wars
Point is not all technology is good/bad
Cool il see when long term (min 3-4 year data comes out) until then its not my problem
Who makes up this stuff. CNN or the New York Times?
What about all the liberal anti vaxxers during 2012-2017 with all the false spreads about autism?
You do know that doctors are paid by drug reps to push certain drugs right?
At this point with the damn virus fannisim I won't blame them. It's super annoying already.
Fannisism. Basically wild and blind support for the vaccine.
Yep lol
So if Science says one day you can jump off a sky scraper and live are you going to do it?
Politics infected science. Before it was disagreeable but still made sense. Now it's straight up unreasonable
Because they do their own science. And find that 2+x does not equal 5 every time.
2+2 can equal 5 if we so choose. S/o to anyone who reads Dosteovsky and will get this.
Also by normal mathematical terms, if you choose 3 every time, the answer is 5 every time.
Liberals only believe science when it fits their agenda. they do not believe science when science tells us and proves to us, that there are only 2 genders, and that transgender is a real gender
The left abuse the word “science”. Science is questioning all things.
Maybe because they are not the party of sheepleness and realize that "science" is a human process that is fallible, biased, and has been used to manipulate and lie to them before?
They don’t distrust science. They distrust biased “science” of a misleading nature intended to fit liberals narrative.
sadly, it is that simple.
