Well…. there’s a lot to unpack with all that. I asked a question the other day, not specific to this shooting, but related to shootings just like this. And the the gist of it was asking if we, as people (but maybe also including people-of-the-media), allow our attitudes towards an event be dictated by the outcome. That’s to say, if a “shooter” had just shot himself, either at school in front of people or on his own time, and indicated that certain students (who may have been shot and killed in another scenario) were his tormentors, the whole narrative flips, and the would-be victims are now the villains who effectively bullied someone to death. Did you ever hear about Phoebe Prince? She lived a few towns away from me when I lived in Western Mass, and she unfortunately made national news for this exact thing, other than she committed suicide in some other way. In fact, I feel like it really kickstarted the anti-bullying movement, particularly considering things like cyberbullying, which is a foreign concept to olds like me, haha. But it’s fair to say if she lashed outward instead of inward, Phoebe Price’s name would live in infamy instead of as a sad cautionary tale against the seriousness of the effects of bullying. So I just think there’s an emotional response from humans where the details leading up to an event can be ignored, and they let the result tell the entire story, which I think is just symptomatic of most humans being highly emotional and lazy thinkers looking for a quick, fast answer.
Another important component is gun rights. No matter where you stand on guns, that’s a conversation that’s always going to be reignited when a mass shooting happens. I was EXTREMELY embarrassed for FoxNews the day of the shooting. I always check all the sites for major stories, to hear the spin on them, and to chuckle at who’s omitting this and highlighting that, because the news has just become a biased, partisan joke nowadays. Every station lets you know which party they support, and that’s honestly crazy. That’s not was news used to be, you used to be (hopefully) given all the facts, and left to decide on your own how you felt about it. Now the news just tells you the news how they think the tuned in viewer wants to hear it. Anyway, I checked CNN, the shooting was the top story, big picture (and to be fair, liberally-biased CNN probably had their writers furiously typing up anti-gun articles, that’s part of their agenda), it was rightfully the biggest story. FoxNews…. holy shit. Not only was it not the top story, it was down in the second tier of headlines, like I had to scroll down to find it. And the top story? Basically, “Chris Cuomo, that scoundrel at CNN, has been exposed and is being fired! Bahahahahahaha…I love it when the libs eat their own! Bahahahahahaha!!!” Huge picture, like Chris Cuomo matters a lick to anybody🤦♂️🙄 I mean, tell me you’re a tabloid without telling me you’re a tabloid😂😂😂 But the reason is, everytime these things happen, the conservatives get antsy that they’ll come for their guns, so it’s imperative to downplay it and spin it into an issue of mental health, not guns. It’s a defense mechanism, really.
Where I'm definitely on board is, if it wasn’t a white kid, it would be made an issue about the “problem” of diversity in the country, or a cultural attack on the values and upbringing of the shooter and, broadly, the rest of anyone who looks like them. If Ethan Crumbley was black, or an Arab…. yikes. You know how that would go. I’d say Tamir Rice makes me think more about Kyle Rittenhouse, who was allowed to stroll down the street openly with a rifle. Tamir Rice and Trayvon Martin, kids like that…. there wouldn’t be any trial they’d be gunned down on sight by authorities, and THAT’S something that truly disgusts me, just the double-standard of who constitutes a “threat.”
But yeah, I definitely agree that there’s a hurry to explain away a white shooter via bullying. Bullying IS serious, it’s clearly different and more severe than when I was a kid, and I think we should all be trying to be more kind, as a people. So I think we SHOULD take opportunities like this to highlight that and have conversations about it. It just needs to be done in true good faith, not because you’re afraid of gun laws changing or to excuse a white kid from doing where you’d quickly condemn a POC. I think humans have a tough time staying in their thought-lanes for these things. Many opposing things can be true at the same time. It can be true that a kid is a victim and a villain simultaneously. I’d just say I agree with you in that I resent the quickness with which this is done for a white kid when I don’t think other would be given the same grace.
People allow various form of media to think for them, instead of thinking for themselves. Changing narratives could cause people to think for themselves and cause more people to what the media is telling them. Changing the narratives away from shooters being victims would result in the above.
Think about this for a moment when various media outlets where going after video games, movies and music for reasons why columbine happened they where quick to glance over that the shooters had several bombs planted in the school. Bomb built out of large propane tanks that where built in one of the shooters garage. So my question is how the hell was the kids parents not aware of this? Trust me if people moved tools around in my grandfathers garage he knew and the person that moved them would hear about it. So where both shooters parents so disconnected that they didn't see the shit storm coming at all?
Also what happened to Tamir Rice isn't a black issue. It's a human issue. All the yelling, screaming and finger pointing pretty based on race, religious or sexual orientation isn't going to stop another family from going through the same thing his family is. A very large group of citizens could very much stop it from happening to another family. Only we can get that large group of citizens is to stop fighting each other and start having civil and honest conversation in place of the fighting.

Please Google "black school shooters" and ask yourself why none of them got national coverage. There was a school shooting in Arlington, TX a couple months ago that was pretty much just swept under the rug. The shooter was a black kid. You make it sound like the only people who ever shoot up schools are damaged white boys. Literally kids of all races shoot up schools. Sometimes the shooter is even a female! So look... they have to create certain illusions to keep us divided.
It's the same with police shootings/killings. Did you know that twice as many white people are killed by cops than black people, every year? No. You didn't know that. This is why we have to use critical thinking when analyzing data. Yes while people are shot by police more when just looking at the numbers but black people are only 13% of the population meaning we are still disproportionately being murdered by the police.
The same goes for statistics on school shooters, the majority are white men. These white men are constantly infantilized and painted as victims of bullying, gaming, etc. where as racialized black individuals are not given that same empathy by the media. Instead black individuals are criminalized even if they were shot unarmed the media always finds a way to rationalize what happened by saying they resisted arrest, or digging up their past criminal record.
My issue is Black people are not afforded the same empathy and compassion that white people are given because of years of blackness and racialized others being painted as dangerous and equating that to criminality which is an idea that continues to effect ideas, practices, and the criminal justice system to this day.
The Arlington Texas shooting was definitely not swept under the rug and it’s pretty dumb to compare the two when the shooter actually had evidence of being bullied. He was robbed and targeted by a group of kids, the shooting occurred after a physical altercation escalated.

Hearing stories of police officers in my town, it is a tragedy when a black kid gets shot for holding a toy gun. But you have to understand the police and the crime rate in an area. In my own city, there were a couple black kids doing drivebys and killed a young baseball star as part of a gang initiation, because they were "bored." As for this new shooter, I don't care if you're black, white, red, or a flying purple people eater. If you shoot up a public place, you deserve a life sentence. It's almost always more nuanced than the media makes it out to be, because they want more clicks. I consume both liberal and conservative media. Not for news, I do it for the critical analysis aspect. Both form narratives, media isn’t simply giving the facts. As a brown, Asian person who went to a majority black school, who can honestly say didn't even speak much to people, I was brutally bullied by my black peers rather than white ones. And I mean, close to suicide. Some kids kill themselves. Because they'd rather they be hurt than hurt someone else. Others are more upfront and seek vengeance any way they see fit. And it would be hard to fully blame them. Kids can be brutal. Now that being said, there are also nutcases who do it for no reason. They need to be condemned harshly.
I went to a majority black/Hispanic and used to be bullied by some of my fellow black peers so I understand the feeling. I’m mostly referring to how i find it hypocritical how the media paints these shootings as a video game or bullying issue when there are several victims of bullying like you and me who will never go on to becoming school shooters.

If you murder someone one time, your life should be forfeit. People should not be required to pay for a murderer's "life sentence" in prison. I think in this latest shooting, both the 15 year old "boy" and his parents should be prosecuted and sentenced as murderers. I have a strong suspicion the parents even helped plan the shooting.

These riots are an aftermath of the many black lives that continue to be lost by the hands of police so the fact that people like you and Kyle rittenhouse would rather care more about their property than a persons life is not only baffling to me but repulsive.
“Riots on private citizens and businesses” the funny thing is the only deaths that occurred during those riots were not due to anyone else but Kyle.
I will always believe lives matter over any type of business. Maybe if you were person of color and had to constantly see people like you being murdered and mistreated by the people that are supposed to “protect” than you’d have more empathy. Those white boys are dead or in prison. As for police shootings sometimes the officer go to prison sometimes they don't but as in the case of Tamir Rice and others the family sued the government, so in effect all white people in the area were held collectively responsible for the killing. That to me is far more than merely jailing one officer. And what about BLM, is welfare cut to pay for the damage their protests cause, are its leaders sued, when the Christmas Parade killer killed six white people including a child Vaun Mayes who has organized BLM protests called it the beginning of a revolution. What about the Tanner Holt case. Anyone who says only white people are allowed to defend themselves should review this case where an off duty police officer made some stupid racial remarks while drunk and a black man knocked him out. Instead of charging the black man the police forced the white officer to resign.
